Aurelian Sigismund marched down a corridor in the Spire of Eternity towards the Halls of the Empress. He was alone, no guards or companions, no detail of staff to accompany him. There was no requirement for either, this was the home of the Eternal Empire, everyone except for the one who he was to visit, was his to command and he would do so without hesitation, without second thought for there was a greater duty to the Throne and the Wardens.

He was the new Overlord and while they met at the Hirkenburg Accords and afterwards to outline their cooperation, there was much to discuss between the Eternal Empress and Aurelian. Dressed in a black set of robed armor with a golden trim, a rather subtle change from his usual golden armor though he still carried his sword in a sheath on his back. He moved through Wolfguards and several Wardens as he entered the personal residence of the sovereign. Knowing the layout by merit of having its defensive problems and solutions imprinted in a corner of his mind, the tall Zakuulan moved with clear direction to a meeting room.

A conversation which very well might impact the Galaxy for generations to come. For Eternity.

Ingrid was in the throne room, which is perhaps a little ironic, because since the Empress was head of the Eternal Empire, no one has ever seen her sitting on the throne. To the red-haired woman, these were just things that were tangible, she was more of a soldier and an assassin. She had no attachment to things like thrones or other things that had to do with ruling or rank. That is why she always wore uniforms without honours or rank, even in parades. She still believed that she didn't need these outward trappings to serve the Eternal Empire and its people.

To serve.

She has always thought of ruling in this way, that she does not rule her people, but serves them as a high-ranking military person, as best she can. It was the title of Empress now, a long, long time ago. She held this title longer than Darth Tacitus built and ruled the Eternal Empire. She had many similarities with the first ruler, but they also differed in many ways. Which would have been the better method will probably never be known, given the late emperor's disappearance and probable death. But to return to the other matter, Ingrid always received emissaries, or whoever came to her, in her own office. If the meeting did take place in the throne room, she received her guests at the long table in the middle.

When Aurelian entered the room, because the guards at the door had let him in, Ingrid was still at the long table, above which was now a holographic image of the galaxy, showing live where there were clashes in the galaxy, as the newly ascendant Mandalorian faction had already appeared. If he approached, only then did she look up from the holographic images and turn to face him, and she saluted, clenched fist over her heart, in the manner of the Eternal Empire military.

<"Overlord!"> she greeted the man with a nod, then turned back to the map. <"One of the Galactic Alliance's puppet states has failed, but another has risen from nowhere. The Mandalorian puppet state has been replaced by a new Mandalorian Crusade. The other state, the Tingel Arm Coalition, has already attacked the Empire of the Lost…">

The redhead's voice is still cold, firm and emotionless. She looked at the pictures for a few moments longer, then turned away from the table again, this time completely, and gestured with her hand to one of the chairs for him to sit down. She was now wearing her usual black uniform, without any rank insignia, this time without even the Eternal Empire armband on her arm. Her hair, as almost always, was in a bun, perfectly.

<"Why did you ask for the meeting, Overlord? What do you want to talk to me about?" she asked him.

Aurelian offered a swift and precise but brief bow, the fist over his heart as he laid eyes on the Empress. The grey eyes had taken in the projection though and had his focus immediately shift onto it.

The to the point, business-first and direct approach of the Eternal Empress were among the qualities he valued the most. She was not caught up in petty protocols and focus on titles and courtly manners, she has been a soldier of the Empire first and always, even after her ascension. The Zakuulan was to a considerable degree impressed with it, despite him not finding any actual warmth in his heart for her. She was at the helm for several decades, she led the Eternal Empire to defeat the Bryn'adûl and saw the victories over the Maw.

Yet he did not return for her sake, but for the Shroud. The goal of the Wardens must not be forgotten, the vision of Valkorion and Tacitus not lost to politics. Aurelian reclaimed his seat at the table of the Eternal Empire, the production of Vandemar and wealth of Zakuul behind him after he waged wars alongside petty imperials and short-sighted knights.

"The Alliance will always spawn lickspittels in every corner that believes freedom is a goal achieved and liberty a good claimed. Poverty is a breeding ground for petty promises. Whereas the Imperial ideology will last simply through their idea of defiance and corrupted order, be it the Lost or the Dark Empire. They will pose the threat to the Alliance they are meant to do. Though I cannot deny the intrigue the Neo Crusaders offer, if they are true to their original ideals, they might prove useful in more than one way."

His gaze calmly shifted to her with a slow blink. "That is why I am here. To discuss how we proceed to reclaim our dominion."
