Forging Ahead

Location: Sullust

To call Sullust hot was to call water wet. The planet was volcanically active in many areas, and as a result the atmosphere was noxious and almost unbreathable at times. Additionally, there were occasional blackouts due to collections of ash. Thus most creatures lived beneath the crust, in cooler tunnel warrens with fields of lichen and pools of clean water, not to mention clean air. Most who went to the surface did so to work at the factories that dotted the planet. The Galactic Alliance had its Capitol here; like the rest of the planet, much of it was underground but there was some exposed to the surface. Battles had been fought for countless years - the planet's position as well as the presence of the SoroSuub Corporation made it highly coveted.

Audren had been present for many of those more recent battles. The Alliance didn't hold his primary allegiance, but their goals and those of the Sanctum were rarely at odds. His skills and efforts were not wasted here or in any of the other arenas where he'd had occasion to join the Alliance.

Yet he was not present on Sullust to relive past battles. There was good reason that SoroSuub was headquartered here (other than being primarily made up of Sullustans, of course). The volcanoes were a ready-made source of heat and metal as well as other materials. For his part, the Sephi knew absolutely nothing about forging. His curiosity in the matter had been sparked in the single Alkahest session he'd attended with some other Jedi. Phylis Alince had showed them the sword Dawnbringer, forged by her own hand and modified through alchemical means to become what it was. This wasn't Sith Alchemy either, it was purely Light-oriented.

His interest was personal and not. The sword had been capable of resisting lightsabers, according to Coci, and he had seen with his own eyes the stream of Force energy it had released. Additionally, Ceredir Industries was just starting up, and if he could add forging or alchemy to his repertoire - even if it was basic - the company could branch out somewhat. But before he could learn the alchemical side of things, he needed to learn how to forge. Not only how to take metal and shape it to his desires, but how to do so in a way that produced workable results. A blade that couldn't cut was useless, as was a piece of armor that shattered at the first blow.

For his part, the Knight was dressed fairly conservatively. Robes without tabards or cloak covered most of his skin yet were nondescript enough to not announce him a Jedi, and a breath mask allowed him to see and breathe without issue. His hair was tightly tied back, not a strand loose. Even his lightsaber wasn't visible, tucked horizontally into a pouch at the back of his utility belt. He'd been told there was a forge somewhere up ahead, one that had a smith that might be willing to teach him. There hadn't been much luck anywhere else, and he didn't want to burden any Alliance smiths with his curiosity, they were busy enough.
