Forging Othrys

For a long while, Taeli had been looking to expand Aurora operations to Commenor. It was a bustling world of trade, a bright point among those worlds in the Colonies to aspire to be like. It was often spoken of in the same terms as one of the Core Worlds. Taeli, as much as she had wanted to establish operations there, had been distracted by one thing or another and had yet to do so. That was being corrected today.

She had read up on the recent... governmental change that Commenor had undergone, with the former president [member="Lady Kay"] declaring herself queen of the entire system and the unfortunate deaths of the Elders of the planet. It had been accompanied by a more... oh how to put it... militaristic bend towards her policies, more centralized control. She had to ponder what had brought about the woman's sudden change, but perhaps she would discover what that was in time. She had an inkling when she saw who one of her Ministers was, a certain former Jedi Master named [member="Connor Harrison"].

Strictly to business though, she was hoping that an audience with the queen would bear fruit so Aurora could place one of their more... gray facilities in place on the world to tie in with their secret project. Outwardly, Taeli had sent a proposal to the queen about Aurora opening a bioengineering and medical facility in conjecture with the University of Commenor much like their arrangement with the university on Rhinnal. As her ship landed in the capital's spaceport, she would make sure to be dressed for the part and only take her concealed shoto saber for emergencies.

Kay drummed her fingers on her desk as she looked over the proposal on her datapad. Another medical facility, and bioengineering as well? Well, with the addition of a resident Doctor to the Palace and his need for a bunch of staff, having more brought in from elsewhere to fill in the gaps and then some, it would be worthwhile. She chewed the inside of her cheek and granted permission for [member="Taeli Raaf"] and her team from Aurora to arrive.

"Have them escorted to the main meeting hall after security checks them through, Olivia."

"Yes, my Queen." The older lady, one that ran the Palace staff bowed her head and stepped out of Kay's office to get everything prepared.

Kay meanwhile headed to her ensuit and fitted herself with dark grey contacts to cover the yellow speckles in her eyes. Her mind drifted as she got herself ready, fixing her hair and decorating it with elegant pins. There have been a rather large number of people questioning her lately, people that were not Commenori. Did her Master foresee this? Whereas he would have taken a brutal approach, Kay's stance was of a more strategic one. She had to play her part if Commenor was to remain safe.

A small part of her was getting worried. Kay tucked a few stray hairs behind her ear while she gave herself a final inspection in the mirror. "This is all a test. Another thing to overcome. Just have to take it one day at a time...One day at a time." It was a new mantra to stave off her feelings of uncertainty.

With a nod to herself and plastering on a confident smile, Kay made her way out of her office, shrunking her Force signature down to that of a small tree nut, and headed down to the main meeting hall. She could already smell the Sapir tea brewing in the pot.

She gave a smile as she and her team were escorted to what was called the main meeting hall by the Queen's guards. There wasn't going to be much for security to check, but all of her people would comply with the searches. A few credit chips, datapads with details on what they were hoping to achieve today and connection to the Holonet, and a pair of reading glasses. As she passed through herself, the security sensor would be tripped and she revealed the concealed shoto.

She wouldn't say a word, just keeping her pleasant smile on her face as she unscrewed the bottom and took out the power pack in front of security to show the weapon was not for possibly assassinating the Queen. That would be counter-productive after all. Once it was shown she wasn't going to be a threat, at least with her lightsaber and datapad, she and her team would continue their escorted walk to the meeting hall. Idly, she pondered whether or not the security recognized that as a Master of the Force, she would still be a danger if the situation called for it. Something to ponder... but not her primary concern. She could smell tea being steeped and that gladden her heart.

She had to wonder what [member="Lady Kay"] was like in person, considering they hadn't interacted before as far as she could remember. And she had to wonder if [member="Connor Harrison"] was actually here or was out... doing things. Entering the hall, she gestured for her team to find seats while they waited for their host to arrive.

Kay normally saw to it that she would be the first in the meeting hall, but not this time. Sometimes one can get consumed with everyday things and time can slip away. This was one of those days.

As she stepped into the meeting hall, she was not only looking to [member="Taeli Raaf"] , but a team of others as well. Normally she's just met with one or two individuals, but no matter. Kay carried no weapons on her person of course, she had her guards to fulfill that role. The overall risk was very small anyways.

She bowed her head to her guests, displaying a warm smile. "Welcome to Commenor. Please help yourselves to some tea." As if to prove that there was no poison of the sort, Kay poured a cup of tea for herself and then sat down at the head of the table. She took a refreshing sip, gave herself a moment to savour it, and then turned to Taeli. "I read over your proposal. I can't say that there have been many like that coming across my desk. But it does intrigue me. So let's hash out some of the details, shall we?"

"Thank you for receiving us, your Majesty," Taeli said, returning the smile and bowing low to the woman in a show of respect. "I've always held what you've done for the Commenor system in high regard, and it is a pleasure to finally have a reason to come here. But yes, to the business at hand."

She would pull out her datapad and activate its built-in holoprojector, showing the designs for the facility Aurora would be building... well almost all of it. There was a secret copy of the plans back on Erilnar that detailed a deeper level to the facility where experiments for Project TITAN would take place. Ostensibly, it would show off what each floor of the facility would entail and the state-of-the-art technologies that would exist within the structure's labs.

"So as our proposal stated, we're looking to expand our bioengineering and medical divisions to the planet," she continued saying. "We would construct the facility using local construction groups, while the staff itself would be pulled from both those already on my payroll and researchers from your planet as well. We are looking for this facility to be a flagship for our bio-augmentations field, and thus only the best technologies will be put into it. We are also looking to enter into a partnership with the University of Commenor, offering the teachers there access to our facilities for their own research and opportunities for students there to find employment or internships."

Kay blinked in surprise at [member="Taeli Raaf"] holding her work in high regard. People didn't often tell her that, or at least, not that she could remember. No doubt memories of that sort were removed from her mind as well. But, it was nice to feel at least a little appreciated. She bowed her head in thanks.

Her eyes were then drawn to the holoprojector and the blueprints on display. The building itself seemed to be a large undertaking. With all of these new Embassies, temples and bases, Chasin City was growing at quite the rate. At least there was room to expand.

She sipped her tea as she overheard the proposal. Thankfully it wasn't word for word of the proposal that she had read. That was a good thing. She liked the idea, most especially the part about the conjuction with the University. However she had some questions. "What kind of bio-augmentations are you looking at pursuing?"

Taeli smiled as she accepted some of the offered tea, even if it wasn't her favorite blend. Bastion Black tea was slowly starting to become available again with the damage done by those zealots finally being repaired. She took a sip before answering [member="Lady Kay"]'s question... definitely not her favorite blend but ah to be polite.

"The bio-augmentations we would be looking to develop here would focus on enhancing the abilities and health of those implanted with," she answered. "Nerve damage regeneration, nerve enhancement to increase reflexes, muscle and bone strengthening, organic prosthetic arms and legs, that sort of thing. We're looking to market these towards those who suffer from debilitating physical conditions, such as war veterans or those suffering long term in the hospitals."

What went unsaid was the secret research that would be undergone in the hidden level of the facility on more... extensive bio-augmentations based on the research and development done in the public areas of the facility.

Kay nodded as [member="Taeli Raaf"] answered her question. It all sounded quite good. Although Commenor hadn't participated in any wars for a very long time, it didn't mean that they didn't have anyone that could use those services. There were many visitors to Commenor. Plus with the mines reopened, construction of the shipyards, military bases and secret projects, the chances of injuries at the workplace had increased. Having others here to handle the influx of patients would be a great bemefit. She'd be a fool to turn it down.

"That sounds wonderful. You'll be the first to enter into that sort of field here, so you needn't worry about competition." Next on the list was where to put the centre. "Would you like to have your own building on the University grounds? Or have it near one of our hospitals?"

"We have a location in mind for where we want to construct our facility," Taeli answered. "About three klicks south of the University campus so it isn't too much of a strain on the students and professors coming to and fro. It's a large enough space and, to make it easier on patients and doctors at the nearest hospital to have access to our research and technology, we will develop a system of speeders to ferry them to our facility."

It might be further to the nearest hospital, but she was more interested in accessing the minds of the students and professors at the University. They would be the ones coming up with new ways to approach procedures, not saying doctors did not of course, but she wanted newer minds to work with. She was sure [member="Lady Kay"] would understand.

Kay tilted her head to the side a bit as she visualized the location that [member="Taeli Raaf"] was speaking of. There were apartments for students both in and around the University, but not quite that far. It was still with city limits and near enough that she could keep an eye on it if she had to.

She sipped her tea, once again going over the proposal on her datapad and mulling it over before she looked up to Taeli and nodded. "Everything looks in order. You are welcome to have Aurora operate here. I look forward to your research and wouldn't mind a tour when the first project gets underway." Kay is known for making surprise inspections as well, to be sure that no one was breaking the law.
