As the Empire expanded, Fort Rex's role as a training station became more and more prominent until eventually it was designated as the home of the Imperial Infantry and Stormtrooper Corps and would train up new Imperial trainees from civilians to elite soldiers through various courses and training exercises.
The Citadel: The main garrison and fortification of Fort Rex, located at a central position on the base's complex it is where the base's conventional forces and support staff reside, hosting their living and eating spaces as well as several other facilities required of long term stationing. HISTORICAL INFORMATION
"It's either too hot, too cold and always raining."

After the New Imperial Order's expansion allowed for Fort Rex to shed its role as a vital defensive point and be utilized for training purposes, it began to gradually grow in size to the immense complex it is today as it serves as the primary vessel for cycling Imperial civilians into fresh Stormtroopers. Across the Empire it has grown a reputation as one of the harshest and toughest places in the Empire, largely due to propaganda of the treatment of new Stormtrooper trainees in their first few weeks of training. The reputation stands beyond that however, beyond the Citadel, living conditions are comparably poor- made so on purpose to make trainees grateful for life's luxuries and gain 'true grit' by going through hardships otherwise inexperienced by most who decide to enlist in the Corps.
Its main function is undeniably Stormtrooper Basic and Advanced Tactics Training, a grueling process which takes under normal conditions, twenty-five weeks to develop civilians into fully trained Stormtroopers. For infantry troopers, it is the only training required for combat deployment while other specializations require further advanced training either on Fort Rex itself or on other Imperial training posts.
After trainees are processed at the adjutant general station, which takes about four hours to provide prepare them for training before eventually providing them their camouflage fatigues sporting little but their Stormtrooper designation letters and numbers and two Imperial symbols sewn into each shoulder, training is split into three phases. Red, White and Black. Each of them focus on a particular area and skill set needed for the untrained civilians to become Stormtroopers.
Red Phase : The 'harshest' phase is gotten out of the way first as drill instructors from the ranks of corporal to sergeant, almost universally war veterans break down the new trainees with harsh corrective training and abrasive psychological conditions to allow for them to mold the civilians into soldiers. During this time, the main objective is to bring new recruits to the drilling, physical and overall military standards setout for new Stormtroopers before they can be trusted and allowed to operate any more complex tasks. Completion of this phase rewards Stormtroopers with their duraplast breastplate.
White Phase : In this phase, Stormtrooper trainees typically focus their training on marksmanship, being issued their service rifles and sidearms- instructed on how to operate, take apart and reassemble each of them before undergoing several range exercises to get them proficient in using their weapon while also honing in basic navigation and survival skills, alternating with different companies between 'field' days and 'range' days. In training, Stormtrooper recruits do not wear the iconic armor of their craft, instead- using rudimentary head mounted heads up displays intentionally designed to convey merely a fragment of the information and battle assistance than Stormtrooper helmets do. Completion of this phase rewards Stormtroopers with their duraplast pauldrons.
Black Phase : The final phase, concepts introduced in earlier phases reach a more advanced level with small unit tactics, basic combat first aid, more in-depth navigation and survival skills and several combat simulations that lead up to the final culminating event known as 'The Gauntlet' which places Stormtrooper recruits in an immensely realistic warfighting scenario. Those who pass, graduate. Completion of Stormtrooper basic training allows for the recruits to don the full Stormtrooper kit for the first time.
