- Military Base Name: Fort Stonespire
- Classification: Fort
- Location: Lantillies
- Affiliation: Silver Jedi, Lantillian Planetary Security Forces
- Population: Moderate
- 3rd Lantillian Artillery Regiment (~3500 individuals)
- 90th Silver Jedi Expeditionary Army Regiment - NORCOM (~3500 individuals)
- Various starfighter pilots, ground crews, and support personnel (~2000 individuals)
- Demographics: Around half of the base's population is composed of native Lantillians, most of whom are baseline human or near-human. This element includes the entire 3rd Lantillian Artillery Regiment as well as amny of the support personnel. The 90th Expeditionary Regiment has a smattering of citizens and species from across the galaxy in federal Silver Jedi service, but the vast preponderance of the unit is actually composed of synthetic soldiers, who are actually droids.
- Accessibility: Fort Stonespire is glaringly obvious to find, being situated just across from the planet's capital city and containing a major star port within its walls. Fort Stonespire itself actually only consists of the walled fortifications that enclose Puran Star Port. While it's easy to gain access to this star port as well as the land around it, access into the fortifications of Fort Stonespire is heavily restricted through the use of energy fences, blast doors, automated sensor beacons, sentries, and roving patrols 3rd Lantillian Artillery Regiment and 90th Expeditionary Regiment. Visitors must either be government affiliated or have received clearance from both the Lantillian Planetary Security Forces and the Silver Jedi in order to access the base through a special pass document. Even then, visitors are subjected to search upon entry into the base and are accompanied by armed escorts from the fort's troops.
- Description: Fort Stonespire is the site of ancient walled city that has gradually evolved into an enclosing fortification for Puran Star Port, the largest space port on Lantillies. As Lantillies is home to both the Lantillian Spacers Brotherhood and Lantillian Shipwrights, this port has become a strategic interest to both the local government and the Silver Jedi. Fort Stonespire's impressive defenses reflect this interest. Not only are the walls and towers of this fort exceptionally dense and durable, but Fort Stonespire has an octet of massive railguns that can successfully duel with star destroyers in orbit. This impressive battery in turn is backed by the hundreds of railguns and mobile warhead launchers of the 3rd Lantillian Artillery Regiment. These weapons in turn are backed by a small theater shield and several squadrons of starfighters. While the fort's owners do not expect it to repel an invasion on its own, it is hoped that these defenses will allow it protect the space port and to a lesser degree, the capital city, until allied forces can arrive in sufficient numbers.
POINTS OF INTEREST
The 'Spires' (officially 'Control Tower Alpha', Besh, etc): Located intermittently between the rampart sections are nearly twenty towers that rise up to form a landing pad at their apex along with a cluster of sensor rods and communications arrays. These last items are dual military-civilian purpose. The communications and sensor arrays allow the star port to detect and direct flight traffic. The military uses these same items to find targets for its artillery and coordinate operations with friendly forces. Officially, these towers contain the flight traffic control stations for the contained Puran Star Port. This is true. Flight control centers occupy the uppermost levels. Unadvertised though, however, the lower levels including the sub-basement contain facilities needed to maintain the fort's troops, to include barracks, armories, op centers, mess halls, gyms, clinics, communications centers, vehicle hangars, and other maintenance facilities (note: not every tower has every single one of these, but generally has 3-5 of these).
The Walls: Not merely 'walls', these are actually fully operationally buildings in their own right filled with magazines for guns, hidden compartments and firing platforms for the 3rd Artillery Regiment's Capricorn Railguns in another example of the Carigan Defense technique. Some walls also contain Plumbata Defense Batteries arranged as vertical launch cells for use against small enemy starships and other like targets. An internal repulsorlift tram on the lower level allows the garrison to quickly move units to and from sections of the wall as needed by the situation. As far as actual defenses are concerned, the outer wall (inner, outer, and roof) is composed of 3 meters of permacrete reinforced with mirrsteel rebar. With Lantillies rearmament process with Lucerne Labs, a thin shielding layer of agrinicrete has been applied to the inside sections of the walls and corridors to provide protection from radiation and ion weapons.
Gun Towers: At mostly regular intervals between the spires are massive gun towers, each of which supports one of Fort Stonespire's eight Scorpio-class Artillery Emplacements. Beneath each cannon is an extended magazine with separated armored compartments that autofeeds to the gun above. In order to provide extra protection to the internal structure, solid slugs occupy the higher echoleons of the magazine, forming another impromptu layer of armor within the fort. Plasma containers thus fill the lower levels. Like the wall, each gun tower is built out of 3 meters of permacrete reinforced with mirrsteel rebar, making it tough enough to sustain some enemy vehicle fire before giving way.
Fighter Hangar: At the northern end of Fort Stonespire, the relatively narrow cross-section of the fort gives way to a large bunker built the same way as the walls and towers of the fort, with the exception of a series of large Argentum-series Matrix Armor blast doors. This hangar contains two squadrons of Gale-class Heavy Fighters in Hunter-Killer configuration and another two squadrons of Vortex II-class Interceptors. This large mass of fighters is responsible for helping to enforce traffic and customs laws around Puran Star Port as well as to rapidly react to incursions by enemy spacecraft.
Theatre Shield Generator: Despite modernizing most of the base, Fort Stonespire still uses the same theater shield generators installed almost a hundred years ago, a collection of jury-rigged World Armor-4 defensive shield generators. Located at the southern edge of the base, this structure has its own power source buried beneath in the form of a reactor taken off a decommissioned Venator-class Star Destroyer. The shield generator is controlled remotely by a station in the lower levels of Control Tower Cresh. In terms of actual performance, this relatively small power source only provides enough power for the shield to cover Fort Stonespire and Puran Star Port inside with good protection from orbital bombardment. In theory, it could be extended to cover nearby settlements to include the world's capital, but doing so would make very brittle and likely to easily collapse under sustained enemy fire.
SECURITY: Medium

- 40 Vortex II-class Interceptors
Millenia ago, when the inhabitants of Lantillies were still in their feudal era, the site that is currently Fort Stonespire was a walled city. As years passed, technology and society progressed forward. The walled city became more prosperous, and while the walls were maintained for historical preservation purposes, they served little to no military purpose. Such remained the state of the fort through the Galactic Civil War. The following Gulag plague changed everything. As societies broke down, the walls were once again pressed into the service as air defense weapons platforms. Subsequent attacks by raiders damaged and destroyed much of the walls, which led to a cycle of rebuilding and subsequent rebuilding. Gradually, the defenses of walls became more complex, gradually evolving from merely a a wall into series of interlocked walls, towers, and other buildings: a true fort. Even as the fort changed, the city inside changed, eventually becoming almost entirely a commercial district now subservient to the nearby budding and much more cosmopolitan capitol. The reemergence of some semblance of intergalactic trade, despite the near constant turmoil of war, finally changed the ancient Fort Stonespire into almost its current state. Trade permitted the necessary electronics and raw materials to allow the now prosperous world to turn Fort Stonespire into the megalithic structure it is today. It also turned the commercial district entirely into a space port. Now modernized with the world's allegiance to the cause of the Silver Jedi, Fort Stonespire continues to serve as an important defensive stronghold, safeguarding the world's largest star port and the nearby capital city.
