The VIPb-1 self-defense bracelet was created under private contract, by Royal Guardsman Dyrn Grav, with the intent of supplying the item to his charge Supreme Leader Fortan. He utilized Royal Guard finance, as it was a business cost, and ensured that it had a range of immediate and effective personal defense equipment. The aim was to have a device that could be worn for mostly any occasion, being richly designed, while also small enough to not be a nuisance. The bracelet utilizes basically every small phrik compartment of the item, interconnected with phrik latches, and houses various components and parts for the task.
The emergency beacon is the primary focus, as it allows the Royal Guard to hone in immediately, due to their receivers being hardwired as a transmission point on activation. When in passive mode (no beacon), there is no frequency or network connection, meaning no amount of hacking or tracing will reveal location. The dissuasion field functions as a typical one does, with the addition of a quick activation/deactivation via wrist flicking. When active, one of the diamonds changes color to light green; when inactive, it remains clear white. Additionally, the personal shield has a concealed button known only to those who use it, and requires manual toggling to spread around the user up to a radius of two (2) meters. The shield is energy resistant, and is aimed toward protection from blasters and similar energy weaponry. Finally, the materials the bracelet is made from make it extremely physically durable and protected against EMP/ion damage. It can also release a stun charge, if required.
Due to the size, micro-power cells were used, which don't contain as much power as larger cells or packs. This results in the energy shield, which draws a lot of power, being useful for around five minutes before depleting. The dissuasion field can last activated for up to thirty minutes before depletion. If all power us consumed, direct plugin or indirect recharge options are available, as well as a passive solar collection function; however, the solar power gain isn't substantial and is more aimed toward replacing small amounts of used power, and also requires daylight to work.
The bracelet acts as a call for assistance from the Supreme Leader, while offering survivability protection until that help arrives. It's untraceable until the beacon is activated, is small and highly durable and insulated, but also lacks the power required for extended use. Still, it serves its function well, and gives Lady Fortan another level of protection, should the presence of bodyguards be unwanted or limited...
