Heinrich's thoughts drifted beyond time and space, to the vast emptiness of the meditative mind. Within the emptiness, he sought the moment of clarity that would often be provided by moments such as this. His thoughts had long been distracted by the trappings of the physical world, and he welcomed the time to get back in touch with the light of Ashla. As he prayed, Heinrich witnessed a sea of images, from both the past and the present. Pleasant and horrific memories both flooded his mind as he maintained his meditative state. It was almost enough to pull him out of the trance, and yet he endured.
It had been so long since he truly took the time to commune with himself on such a level. Distractions and necessity had prevented him from doing so, constantly pulling him away. Even before his imprisonment, Heinrich had known struggle. For years he had served Ession as a loyal knight, and for years he had fought the Sith. The path of the warrior had consumed him to such an extent, that it had almost become his very identity. In all of those years, Heinrich had lost sight of what made him who is was.
His mind flashed forward to the present; to the countless lives already saved by the Crusade. He found himself being pulled between the justification of their cause and his own needs as an individual. He did not know if Ashla was trying to tell him something, or if he was just a man stuck between two worlds, forever at war with both the Bogan and himself.
Suddenly, a thought hit him as if his very body had been slammed through hyperspace in an instant. His struggle was because he sought to separate his two lives. He yearned for a life devoid of the constant fighting, and yet wouldn't even think to leave the holy cause behind. The reality ended up being more simple than all of that...
His world would never be at peace, nor would his soul, until they met their goal. No one in the galaxy could truly see an age of peace until they had wiped away every trace of the tainted essence of the Bogan. No... he wasn't living two lives... they were one in the same. He only felt as if they were separate because of doubt, fear, and insecurity. In the end, the only thing that would bring peace is victory. The only way out, would be through.
With those thoughts, Heinrich felt a calming warmth surround him, as if he were in the embrace of Ashla herself. He didn't notice, but a smile had found its way onto his face as he continued his prayer. Perhaps this inner peace would follow him in the battles to come.
