Unit Description: A planetary militia regiment of light infantry built out of necessity to protect Danutan mining claims in the sector. Until recently the unit acted as a reserve regiment, providing support where needed. With the re-organization and centralization of the Concordia government, the Danutans have made use of the increased funding to augment their ranks with additional soldiers, upgrade their equipment, and bring experienced soldiers into the command structure to help with additional training.
COMBAT INFORMATION:
Unit Size: Large (approximately 1500-3000 depending on current enlistment)
Unit Availability: Uncommon
Unit Experience: Trained
Combat Function: Light Infantry, Rank and File
Strengths:
- Motivated: All members of the Danutan Volunteers are there by choice. With the exception of being on deployment, there are no time service contracts and members can choose to come and go as they please. As a result, no Danutan serves if he/she/they do not wish to. This means that morale within the regiment is generally pretty high and somewhat hard to shake.
- Tough: Danutans are miners by trade and as such a very tough and hearty folk. They do not give up easily, and though they may lack the training and specialized equipment of other more advanced regiments, they are determined to pull their own weight.
- Old Equipment: Being a planetary militia, the Danutans generally have to make due with whatever is currently in the Silver Jedi's surplus stores. While the added funding that has come from the newly centralized Concordia government has allowed them to upgrade some of their equippment, they still tend to be armed with older and sometimes obsolete equipment.
- Green: Since their inception, the Free Danutan Volunteers have not been part of a major engagement. While some of their number have fought off world, the vast majority remain untested. This plus their somewhat lackluster attendance policies during exercises means that the regiment's overall training level is a little uneven, though the addition of off-world officers has helped round out these edges.
Built out of a need to keep safe the extensive mining operations on the planet Danuta, the Free Danutan Volunteers are a volunteer only planetary militia regiment. Their mandate is to guard their world and in so doing to keep secure the worlds surrounding it. This means that when necessary they are willing and able to lend troops to various operations throughout Silver Jedi Concord territory. In recent months, they have taken advantage of the increased funding alloted to military forces from the Concordia government to increase their standing numbers, upgrade their equipment and take on experienced officers in command positions to increased their level of training. Though as of this date have not been part of any large engagements, a small element of Danutan Volunteers participated in the defense of the Shield Outpost during the Battle of Yurb.
