SPECIAL FEATURES
- Improves on the original design of the 240 by incorporating new manufacturing technologies, materials and the larger resources and brain power available at Freebirds Industries. This includes using Phrik-A, FM-002 to make the overall construction lighter, more durable and even more reliable.
- Phrik-A construction of the rounds allow for each individual round to be lighter than standard 6.8mm rounds while enabling the larger charge and more powerful round. This allows for each round to deliver the same ballistic trajectories as the 240 with the increased stopping power and penetration offered in a 10 mm round. This makes each round sent down range much more effective and accurate as with the heavier rounds atmospheric and weather conditions have less effects on the ballistic trajectory.
- Total analog construction of the weapon system means that regardless of whatever environment you are in, this weapon will function, even underwater (range considerably affected underwater). This means wherever you go, whatever you are doing, you can count on this machine gun to put rounds down range accurately and effectively.
- Stock collapses and folds allowing for ease of stowage inside a vehicle, or even for vehicle mounted operations. And since the stock contains no parts necessary for the weapon to function you can even remove it for vehicle mounted operations to give you more room inside of whatever it is you are shooting from.
- Use of the Shield Piercing Ionite-A rounds makes this weapon effective against even droids or shields meaning that no matter the job, the LWMMG has your gunners covered.
STRENGTHS
- Reliability - The total analog construction combined with the high quality of materials utilized in this weapon means that regardless of what terrain or environment you find yourself, this thing will not only function but do so effectively. So don't be afraid to be rough with her, because she loves being man handled. And don't forget to keep up your rates of fire to swap out barrels regularly, that way you can keep slinging tungsten rounds down range.
- A Medium Machine Gun in a Light Machine Gun package - This weapon system at its core is a medium machine gun. It takes bigger rounds, and shoots them rapidly down range to hit enemy targets hard and keep them either suppressed or dead. It does this while being lighter than your average medium machine gun and is adaptable to most situations that people will find themselves in from a dismount in the field to a commander on a vehicle. Whatever your need, the LWMMG will serve and serve will dishing out hate and pain at range.
WEAKNESSES
- It's a slug thrower - Ammunition compared to most other "standard" weapons out there are much heavier. This is because with slugthrowers you have to actually carry each individual round into combat, rather than charge packs with hundreds if not thousands of shots. This makes carrying a weapon like this a significant commitment, meaning a lot of weight in your kit is going to be dedicated to supporting this weapon system.
- Note barrel changes - Even though this weapon system uses Phrik-A and Alusteel in the barrel, you need to do barrel changes that scale with how fast you are shooting. This is because the hotter that barrel gets, the more it begin to bend and droop because of how soft the metal will get. And if that wasn't bad enough if you get the barrel hot enough through firing you can actually strip the threads off of the spare barrel or worse, break them off in the weapon system. This means that the weapon itself is completely out of action. So always bring spare barrels, and if you're going cyclic, you MUST and I mean MUST, do a barrel change every 60 seconds. Because if you don't, either your barrel will start to melt and deform, rounds will cook off inside the weapon, or you'll be sending a barrel down range with your last round.
DESCRIPTION
With the update for other weapon systems initially designed and developed from TDW, the M-240 also received its own review and development. First thing they did was update the materials of the design, incorporating Phrik-A and FM-002 into it's construction. This would lower the overall weight of the weapon while also allowing for it to be larger and thereby use even larger rounds to allow for harder hitting and more accurate fires to be generated by the weapon system. With a larger and more stable ballistic profile this weapon system is by all accounts a major improvement over the M-240.
