Strengths:
High Speed: Like most escort frigates, the Freedom is exceptionally fast for its size, which is augmented by its Nimble-class Ion Engines.
High Cargo Capacity: Much of the Freedom's internal space is dedicated towards a single, large cargo hold. This allows the frigate to transport cargo and passengers alongside the freighters it is designed to protect, albeit it does not carry as much as many bulk freighters can.

Lightly Armed: Like most escort frigates, the Freedom is lightly armed for its size, with much of its armament being focused on lighter weapons for use against subcapital ships and starfighters that often used by pirates and other raiders.

Description: The Freedom-class Escort Frigate is Lucerne Labs attempt to capitalize the multipurpose small capital ship market that the classic Corellian Corvette has dominated for so long. Like that vessel, the Freedom is built for speed, using a large bank of Lucerne Lab's own Nimble-5 Ion Engines to propel it at high speeds through space. The Freedom likewise has enough armament to make a viable defense against many lighter craft or act as a commerce raider. It's large central cargo hold likewise incorporates modular architecture and capable of being configured to function in several different ways. Typically, the Freedom uses its cargo hold to carry up to 10,000 metric tons of cargo, about half that of a bulk freighter. Lucerne Labs intends to market the Freedom as a cost-effective convoy guardian to corporations. In carrying cargo, it can offset some of its operating costs. Like the Corellian Corvette, the Freedom can be outfitted as a fast passenger liner or troop transport, in which case it can carry up to 1000 passengers. Other configurations may include acting as a diplomatic vessel, yacht, or as an exploratory craft. Lucerne Labs intends to capitalize on this modularity to make it more attractive to multipurpose buyers and corporations, though it remains to be seen if this will be a successful gambit to break through the dominance enjoyed by the CR90 for so long.
