This will be a collection of some of Viru's training under the holocron of Darth Krayt.

Still kneeling before the avatar of Darth Krayt, Viru raised his head. The ancient Sith Lord had said he’d take Viru under his wing. Viru could feel his muscles twitching in excitement, and like any other scientist he hungered for the knowledge that the holocron’s avatar would provide him. He could only imagine what secrets it held, what he would be like upon completing his training. How he’d make all those that once left him to die kneel. He would break people upon his will. All would come to either fear or respect him, he promised himself that. Only when he was trained would he reveal himself to the galaxy in force. “What’s the first lesson?” Viru asked eager to learn.

“Calm thyself young one. Before you can use the force or I can teach you, you must come into contact with it. You must feel its power flow into you, and learn to draw on it.” Darth Krayt said the gatekeeper as it motioned for Viru to rise. “Along with this you must come to understand the trappings of the jedi, and the Sith of old so as to not fall into the same traps.”

Rising to his feet Viru dusted off his pants. “How will I learn to do such a thing?” Viru asked. As far as he remembered he’d never used the force in anyway. At least not consciously, even then he could not think of any times. The jedi had denied to take him when he was a child due to his sickness which left Viru completely untrained and unable to use his abilities.

A smile touched the Avatar’s lips as it looked upon Viru. “Don’t worry my young apprentice, you will learn soon enough, and when you do you will learn just what it means to hate.” Krayt said.

Landing on the planet Tatooine Viru looked over to the holocron avatar that hovered next to him. He had to take the holocron just about everywhere with him when it came to doing what it wanted. The only time he deactivated it was when he needed to sleep or was in the middle of travel. Not that they were on the planet Viru wanted to know why he had been commanded to come here. “Why have we come to this place? I retrieved your holocron from here already? What other use is this dustball.”

“You shall not speak of my home in such a way.” Krayt said a deepening of his voice with a hint of danger behind it. Viru visibly flinched away as the avatar raised a hand in his direction. He had no clue what these holocrons were truly capable of and had no plans on angering the gatekeeper of it. If it was anything like the Sith he’d heard about he wasn’t too sure he’d survive. Nodding his approval, the ancient sith lowered his hand. “We come to this planet because it was my home at one point… Before I was reborn as a Sith. Before I knew of the power the darkside could provide me with. Before I ascended to rule the Sith. It was also the home of my father.”

“Was your father a Sith as well?” Viru asked the avatar as he grabbed the pack of supplies he’d brought with him for the trip to the planet. The heat alone would make it easy for one to become dehydrated and the nights were sure to be freezing.

“Regretfully no. My father was a great jedi knight. One of the greatest to ever grace the order of old.” Krayt said his eyes following Viru. “Leave the pack.” He commanded.

“Wait what?” Viru asked his jaw dropping. “You’re karking crazy if you think I’m going to leave this behind. I’ll die out there without this.” He said hooking his finger over his back and pointing to the supplies.

“My father survived this planet on his willpower alone. I do not expect you to be able to match him, however you will know the struggle that one faces in the desserts of Tatooine. It will break you down, take you to the edge of death, and finally when the darkside comes to you, when it offers you its help. You will accept it and be reborn. Molded by the desserts and the darkside of the force.” Krayt said his hands spreading as though a pariah delivering a religious message, and as I said leave the pack behind. I am all you need.” The avatar said his body shimmering as the light particles began to disperse. “Next time I shall not open by your voice, I will only answer to you using the force to awaken me.” The avatar said as it’s luminescent body vanished.

Are they all this dang insane? Viru thought as he struggled with whether to listen to the avatar or to take the pack regardless. He had no want to die, however if the pack would ruin the point of the quest it would be nothing but a waste of time. The gatekeeper even made it abundantly clear it would no longer answer to Viru when he called. He’d have to summon it with the force. Sighing he dropped the pack and snatched up the holocron tossing it up in the air once before catching it. Hitting the button Viru watched as the landing ramp extended. Final chance to turn back. To put all this sith stuff behind you.
Viru heard a voice in his head say causing him to pause at the top of the ramp. Looking at the holocron in his hand Viru was weighing his options, here he was being offered powered greater than he ever imagined, while on the other hand he could possibly lose everything he had already worked for. Then he remembered his days of living in the shadows, confined to a chair. Where he had to stave death off every day. “I can do this.” He said as he took the steps out into Tatooine’s wild wastes.

It was only a few hours into the journey and Viru was already cursing himself for not bringing his pack with him. He could feel the twin suns beating down on him as the heat took what energy he had. Draining the young man, even wearing the loose clothing and the turban to keep himself protected from the heat Viru could feel his legs tiring. An hour of marching through thick sand had begun to take its effects. The air was dry and he wanted nothing more than to be back on his ship where he could eat and sleep. The only thing he had brought with him had been canteens of water due to the probable rarity of water on the planet.

Looking back to where he had come from Viru looked to see a large cloud of sand building up on the horizon. It seemed to be rolling across the landscape picking up more and more speed. Being a scientist Viru knew exactly what it was without having to be told by anyone. Sandstorm! He thought as he turned dredging up what energy he could. While there were large boulders everywhere, there were no cracks or crevices to hide in. The nearest mountain was at least a mile in the distance. He’d never make it in time.

The storm was beginning to pick up speed and the wind alone threatened to send Viru flying. Making a mad dash for the nearest boulder Viru did the worst thing one could do. He looked back, it had only been seconds and the storm was upon him. He leapt with all his strength and went flying over the boulder where he hit the thick sand. Using his hands to cover himself Viru scooted near the boulder using it as cover. In the blink of an eye the storm fell upon him, the wind whipped at his loose clothes threatening to strip him of them. The sand flew by and it felt as though he was being cut all over where flesh was exposed to the environment. The pain was something he could deal with, but that didn’t make it hurt less, and that did not alleviate his fears as sand began building up all around him. HE couldn’t run out into the storm as he’d be snatched away or at least that’s what he thought. The sand at first had covered his feet, but a few seconds later he was buried up to his knees. Fighting against the sand Viru feared he would be buried to death, forgotten in this dessert. “NO!” Viru screamed out as the sand continued to bury him.

Finally, the storm passed and all that remained of where Viru had been was sand, nothing could be seen besides a slight shifting in the sand. Suddenly a hand shot out of the sand grasping what little bit of the boulder remained. Followed by another. Exploding from the sand breathing heavily Viru climbed out of his makeshift grave. The dessert had tried to kill and bury him. If it hadn’t been for his quick thinking, he probably would’ve died. Using the turban as a mask Viru kept himself from suffocating while he climbed to the surface. IT had been his will to live that had helped him survive. Laying on the baking boulder Viru tried to rest before feeling around to ensure he hadn’t lost the holocron.

The holocron was still safely tucked in the clothing. Releasing a sigh of relief Viru looked in all directions, the sun was beginning to fall and soon enough it would be night. He had to find some place to stay before then, if he didn’t he’d surely die in the dessert. He’d have to at least make it to one of the nearby mountians. However, he did not have the energy to run to the mountain, his arms and legs were sore from the effort it had taken to climb out of the grave. You’ll never make it. The voice in Viru’s head said trying to warn its owner. “We still have to try.” He said growling not willing to give up. Despite the cries of his muscles Viru fought on intending to survive.

Sometimes though your willpower won’t matter, Viru did not make it in time and as the suns set the temperature of the planet had dropped drastically. Huddled near yet another boulder Viru laid on his side. His tan skin had begun to pale and his body shivered. He had no strength left to draw on, he was hungry, he was weak, and worst of all he was scared. Everything he had worked for in life would be gone, left for others to fight over. No one would come looking for him, and even if they did they wouldn’t search Tatooine. His body would be buried and Viru wouldn’t be remembered.

Though as the darkness swam at the corners of his vision Viru could hear a new voice, a dark voice at the back of his mind. “Use me… You do not have to die here. You’re stronger than this. Let me help you.” The dark voice spoke its honeyed words trying to draw Viru in… And it was working, Viru didn’t want to fight anymore, he didn’t want to die. He wanted to live. “Then live!” The voice said as a new strength welled up deep from within Viru. “You do not need others. You survived over a hundred years off your will alone! Will you let this planet break you?! Will you die with a whimper like some mongrel pup?!” The voice asked chastising Viru.

“No.” Viru said his voice weak and frail.

“That is not how the strong speak! You sound weak! You will be lost in this dessert! You will die on your own! Alone! No one shall miss you. You are nothing!” The voice said.

“NO!” This time Viru said it with more power, his voice grew deep as his rage at the voice in his mind reached its boiling point. “I am Viru Lentus! Heir to the Lentus family, student of the Dark Lord Darth Krayt! I will not die here!” The rage fueled him, his body felt as though it were on fire as a new strength filled him. Reaching into his clothes Viru freed the holocron. He knew what he now had to do. He could feel the dark energy coursing through his veins his eyes now a golden hue. “I call on you Darth Krayt!” His voice filled with strength as the dark energy he now felt traveled through him and into the holocron.

“Yes!” the gatekeeper said as the Avatar of Darth Krayt came to life. “Now the true training can begin!”

Even with his rage and hatred fueling him Viru could still feel the freezing air of Tatooine’s night air. He moved slowly through across the sands with nothing to guide him but the light of a glowstick. The wild winds whipped at his clothes, and sand hit his face. However, the young man soldered on remembering what Darth Krayt had said the last time he had awoken the holocron. “You must make your way to the Junland Wastes. Once it served as my home, and till I deem it so it shall be yours as well.” The avatar had said.

“Kriffing Sith making me walk through this dessert.” Viru growled as he reached the base of the mountain he’d have to scale. The moment he did he’d be able to cross the top and see the Jundland wastes from it. Summoning up more of his hatred towards the jedi, and towards his tormentor that was Darth Krayt, Viru began the climb. “You fool! You kneel to a simple avatar! You are better than this.” The dark voice said chiming in as Viru drew on the dark energy to power his body. The insides of his palms felt raw as he climbed the walls the sharp rocks cutting into him. “I need his knowledge.” Viru said trying to justify his compliance to the avatar’s commands. “Without that holocron I will return to being nothing… I was nothing before and spend years hiding in the shadows. Soon I will no longer have to.” Viru said as he flung himself towards an overhang. Grasping the end of it he was able to pull himself up but just barely.

Even with all his rage and the dark energy that powered him Viru still tired. Laying on his back Viru looked up at the rest of the climb he had left. It would not be easy to reach it by morning. If even possible. Eyes glancing over Viru saw a bunch of glowing red dots coming from within a crevice in the side of the mountain… No not dots, those were eyes. Only now did he hear the growls and shrieks of what was hidden in the crevice. His blood chilled as he drank in his surroundings. Only now did he notice the Tusken raider corpse its robes near destroyed, the gardaffi staff at its side. It was to late to start climbing again, they’d catch him if he turned his back to them.

Rolling onto his stomach Viru kept a careful eye on the creatures in the crevice. He made no sudden movements, but his hand snaked closer to the gardaffi stick. With another shriek the creatures revealed themselves as they pounced at Viru. They were large rats, many of different sizes. Viru even saw some as long as his leg was, with all of them reaching above his shin. Snatching up the staff Viru quickly brought it across in a slash using the sharp spike on the end. Time seemed to slow for Viru as the spike sliced through one of the creatures its red blood splattering his face. Still eight remained and they did not stop upon seeing a comrade killed. Another pounced its mouth wide to take a bite out of Viru’s face while two of the others aimed to bite at his ankles. “No you don’t.” Viru snarled as he spun the staff slicing the one aiming for his face in half. Bringing the blunt end around he swung it like a club. The force behind it was enough that the sounds of the creature’s bones cracking reverberated and they went tumbling over the edge.

“Cursed rats.” Viru said turning to face the remaining four womp rats. He had never known they could be so aggressive. Saliva dripped from their wide mouths and Viru scowled. They certainly weren’t pretty. That was certain. None attempted to approach him though. They seemed to even be backing away back to the crevice from whence they came. No they had come after Viru and he would finish the job. Pouncing after them Viru swung wildly with the staff till all that remained were shreds of the creatures. Never attack another if you weren’t ready to finish the job. Slumping to his knees Viru felt incredibly exhausted. He had spent what other energy he had fighting off the creatures.

He needed food. His water supply was still fine though. Looking around Viru could think of only one option… He’d have to eat the rats. His stomach turned at the mere thought. How could he be lowered from eating the finest of cuisines to now eating the rats of a dessert world. He was tempted to just let himself starve, but beggars couldn’t be choosers. Setting to work crafting a fire Viru used the remaining Tusken Raider cloth as a base. Bundling it up he stood above the clothes trying to get two rocks to create a spark. “Come on…” Viru thought as he rubbed them together again. Finally, a spark jumped off and caught the cloth on fire.

Not sure just how long to cook the womp rats Viru ended up burning the first two, while the rest came out fine. The rank smell assaulted his nose, and he could feel his stomach already denying the food. But this was for survival. Biting into the meat Viru had to gnaw and pull to get a chunk of the thick meat to tear off. Munching on it Viru’s face turned into a frown. The meat tasted absolutely rancid, but it was all he had. Continuing to eat the scientist debased himself for survival. Is this what it means to become a Sith? Viru thought to himself. To let myself be broken down? The voice from earlier had retreated during his meal however now with a full belly Viru threw the rest of the meat off the edge. He’d need rest if he aimed to reach the Jundland wastes the next day. I hate this… I hate the jedi, I hate darth krayt, I hate this world. Viru thought as he closed his eyes to get some rest.

Soon enough Viru could feel the planets twin suns rising. The cold of the dessert was washed away while the suffocating heat returned once more. The fire Viru had made had died out some time during the night, and the meat he had cooked smelled even worse than it had when he cooked it. Bugs buzzed around assaulting it getting their fill. Eyes fluttering open Viru sat up and looked out to the rising suns. His journey would have to once again continue. This time however he had the mask of a dead tusken raider. The mask humidified the air he breathed in and would keep Viru from dehydrating as fast. With his loose clothes he almost looked like a Tusken.

I will make it to the village before the end of the night. Viru thought to himself as he jumped up grabbing onto a rock above the overhang. His muscles were still sore from the climbing he had done the night before but the energy Viru had called on before was back with full strength this time. His callused hands pulled him up while he gained his footing ensuring he wouldn’t fall. Casting a look out in the direction he’d have to descend Viru watched as the light crossed the land. IT drove away the darkness in its wake causing the man to scoff. “You’ll never wash away the darkness completely.” He said as he continued his climb.

When Viru reached the top of the mountain the twin suns were high up in the air. Now however he did not feel as drained. With his body completely covered and the mask of the tusken he needn’t lose so much strength due to the heat. This wasn’t even counting the power of the force that flowed through his being driving him on. The mountain would be a long climb down. Much more dangerous than climbing up in his opinion. Especially if any more of those rats were waiting.

Standing on the edge Viru looked down to the sand. He did not wish to spend another night in the wastes of the dessert. Nor did he want to expand energy descending. “You’re going insane!” The voice in Viru’s head chirped in fear. “You’ll kill yourself.”

“I died the moment I stepped foot into this dessert.” Viru said as he took the step over the edge. His once violet eyes were now a golden as he fell. The air whooshed in his air as he fell through the air his loose clothes flapping. Then as the ground began approaching rapidly Viru swung the Gaderffi staff stabbing the long spike into the mountain. At least he tried but the first time it bounced off the mountain face. A look of shock on his face Viru could feel himself nearing the ground. If it didn’t work this time he’d be nothing but a Viru pancake. Summoning his strength and his rage Viru felt his muscles tighten. Swinging again the spike penetrated the mountain wall and Viru’s motion slowed. He could feel the staff shaking as it struggled to deal with the friction of Viru still falling. But his speed eventually came to a stop. Only four meters over the ground Viru released a sigh. He did not think he would come that close to death, actually he had already thought that several times during this trip. Just how many more would he? Yanking the staff free Viru fell to the ground where he landed in a roll so as to not break his legs.

Then as he stood Viru could see the spiraling stone pillars that were the landmark denoting the Jundland Wastes. He was almost there.

Entering the wastes Viru activated the holocron of Darth Krayt to guide him the rest of the way to the village. “Hmm you survived.” Darth Krayt said a hint of curiosity in his voice as he looked down on Viru. “You wear the mask of my people. You would fit in just fine if my clan still lived.” Pointing towards one of the pillars Krayt guided his apprentice.

“What happened to your clan?”

“They were sadly broken apart, upon my fathers death… I was able to gather them once again however I was soon forced into exile by a jedi that did not see the point of my mission. He thought he was doing the right thing to exile me.”

“Who was this jedi?” Viru asked looking up at the intimidating avatar. It looked like one would be hard pressed to defeat him at all.

“It matters little… It was before I was reborn as a Sith. Before I knew what true power was… Much how you were reborn from your journey.”

Following the direction Viru went to the pillar and walked past it as he did so he came across what he could only assume to be a graveyard. All around pillars of stone stood erected.

“The burial place of my clan members… Surprising that it still stands.” Krayt said waving his hand to the hill. “My past village will be just over that hill. No need to focus on the lost.” Turning Viru walked away. He did not care about the savages of the dessert. They were no kin to him, and had done nothing for him. That had been purely for the avatars sake.

Crossing the hill Viru saw what remained of the Tusken village. The huts that had been build were mostly destroyed from time and wear. The few that did remain would have to be suitable for Viru to live in for however long he stayed here.

“Yes… My home.” The avatar said before spinning to face Viru. “Your old self has died in the dessert and here I will mold you into a Sith.” The gatekeeper said. “Rest now, as this was just the beginning.”

“To begin to truly utilize the force, to truly experience its power you must be able to completely open yourself to it. To give yourself to it, and then bend it to your will!” Darth Krayt’s avatar said its arms tucked behind its back. “You must use your emotions and let them give you strength! This was the foolish jedi’s error. They preached detachment, they made themselves weak! That weakness allowed me to destroy them.” Reaching out and balling his fist the gatekeeper stared at Viru who now sat cross-legged before the gatekeeper.

Viru’s hands rested in his lap as his head slumped forward brow furrowed in concentration. He dare not say a word as the holocron’s avatar spoke. Viru meditated but he did not understand how to truly call upon the energy. To let it come to him as it kept avoiding him. Every time Viru reached out for the force it seemed to recoil away from him. Similar to how a child would a stranger.

“You must not assert your will at first. You must allow the force to come to you, only then, and only then do you seize it.” Krayt said looking down at his apprentice a frown on his face. “Only after truly learning to call upon the force will you be able to assert your will at your own leisure. As of now you are nothing. Nothing to the force, nothing to this planet, and nothing to me if you fail.”

Hearing the words Viru’s heartbeat began to pick up. Would the gatekeeper really leave me? Viru thought as he tried once again to will the force to him. He heard the avatar’s words but Viru found it even harder to give himself over to the force. He wasn’t one to leave himself open to anything, yet here this Sith Lord was telling him to open himself to the force. Lips pressing tightly together Viru tried to stop trying to will the force to him but he just couldn’t. Opening his eyes Viru looked at the ground a frown on his face. “I can’t!” He yelled. “It won’t come to me!”

“IF you can’t do it then there is nothing more I can teach you.” The avatar said its body beginning to shimmer. The tale-tale sign that it was about to return to the holocron. If it returned now Viru wasn’t sure if it would answer to him again. It could possibly remain closed till it found someone else worthy. Viru would be left with nothing, nothing but his growing hunger for knowledge and power.

“Wait!” Viru shouted his arms splaying out before him. “I’ll try again!” Seeing the look of reluctance on Krayt’s face Viru needed something else to keep the gatekeeper interested. “If… If I fail, this time I will give you to the true Sith. Another that can utilize your teachings.”

“This is your last chance boy.” The ancient Sith said turning to watch Viru once again. “Release that arrogant pride of yours and it will come easier. Remember your teachings in the sands. You are nothing, the force is what will create you, while my teachings will mold you.” The gatekeeper advised once more.

Closing his eyes Viru tried to calm himself. To set aside his fears of the avatar leaving and sealing itself away with all of its knowledge. He had to succeed in this endeavor. One way or another he had let the force flow into him. Ever since you stepped onto this planet… No ever since you opened that accursed holocron you’ve went from pillar to post. Things have done nothing but gotten worse. You could be back in your lab creating clones, an army to fight for you. Yet hear you are groveling before some imitation of a Sith.” The voice in Viru’s head said. Trying to sow doubt and dissention into the man’s mind. Viru almost felt as though the voice was that of his old self. The one that had been refined to a chair most of his life, that had struggled to live. No… That Viru was dead, and all that would remain was the new one.

I dismiss you. Viru shot back in his mind as he finally relaxed letting his guard down. For once he did not move to control or to create. Instead he left himself open for the force to flow into him.

“You cannot dismiss me! I am you! Without me you would be nothing!” The voice screamed. Though its voice seemed to grow more and more distant each second till its wails had disappeared. Then for Viru all there was, was the presence of the force. The cool energy flowed through him, filling his being, and as it did so he finally seized it. Like an animal after its prey Viru seized the energy unwilling to let it go. The force thrashed around trying to escape but Viru imposed his will trying to keep it in line. The battle was long and hard as the duel of domination continued. The force energy slowly began to grow hotter till Viru felt like lava was flowing through his veins. However, he bared the pain and finally after what felt like an eternity the force gave in to his wishes. When he opened his eyes the next time the golden hue had returned.

“I have never felt power like this before.” Viru breathed as he looked up at the Avatar.

“Yes the force is a limitless energy, it fills us, flows through all living things. However, we Sith are the highest manifestation of it, through the force we gain more power than even the jedi could imagine.” Krayt said motioning for Viru to rise. “There may be some benefit in training you after all.” The gatekeeper said and for a second Viru thought he saw a smile touch the avatars face but it was gone in an instant.

Viru was losing track of just how long he had been on the blasted planet learning from the holocron of Darth Krayt. His water supplies had been depleted long ago, and he had been forced to scavenge the wastes for enough scrap pieces to repair a moisture vaporator. It was surprising that Krayt knew how to do it, siting that he had to once when he was a youth. However, that did not solve his food problem. Every day Viru had to spend hours hunting for food to eat. Often times it ended up being Womp Rats. With how fast they went bad he had to hunt often.

Walking back to the makeshift camp he had set up in the village Viru entered the hut and sat on the ground as he began prepping the fire. He had just returned with a sack filled with dead womp rats, it was almost horrible how he had given himself over to living the life of a savage. He barely spoke some days unless it was to the holocron. He had begun to crave interaction with others, not with the avatar but with living people. Pulling off the Tusken mask Viru scratched at his face. His face hadn’t aged due to the mask protecting him, but there were bags beneath his eyes. His golden eyes, and he had grown a thick beard that dominated most of his face. It was quite the sight. He almost looked the part of a savage.

After the fire was lit Viru simply looked over at the holocron that sat perched upon a pile of sand. It awaited him. Once every few days he’d consult with the gatekeeper to follow its teachings. However, sense coming into contact with the force and learning to summon it Viru had been instructed to familiarize himself with it. Till it became like second nature to call upon it. Flicking his wrist Viru summoned the dark energy and released it at the holocron. With Darth Krayt’s figure appearing a few seconds later.

“You’re getting better.” The avatar said looking upon Viru as he began roasting the Womp Rats he had captured. "I believe soon it will be time for your next lessons. I will begin teaching you how to utilize the force, to interact with objects with it.” Krayt said.

“Hmm.” Was the only response the gatekeeper got from Viru as the man’s eyes focused on the fire. It burned bright red like the flame in his heart. The one that urged to finish his training and return home. Beating his doubts back down Viru steeled himself. Over the time he’d been on the planet he’d learn to seal off those negative thoughts. Or at least hold them at bay. “When shall we start?” Viru asked as the smell of the roasted meat filled the hut. He wasn’t even effected by the smell anymore. He saw it as nothing else but nourishment. The creatures were there to feed him, that was their only purpose in life.

“After your meal.” The ancient Sith said. “However while you eat I shall continue to tell you the stories of the jedi of old.” Krayt said as he began to tell stories about the Jedi of his time. Of how he had been apprenticed to the first knight to ever willingly be put on the council, and how he was also taught by one of the most esoteric jedi that had ever come to exist. It was like having a living data depository as the gatekeeper recalled the memories as though it were the actual Sith Lord.

Standing in the clearing surrounded by the rubble of the Huts that had not survived the wear of time Viru looked at the avatar. “Yes it is time for the part of the force that all jedi and sith learned. Even the younglings were taught it in my time.” Krayt said waving his arm at the rubble of a nearby hut. “Reach out to the rubble, not with just your mind but with the force. You have practiced long on drawing and controlling the force. This is the next step.”

Looking over at the rubble Viru reached out with his left hand, his eyes closing as he focused on it. Slowly the rubble began to wobble and Viru’s eyes furrowed his focus increasing. Some of the larger pieces shifted however they did not lift off of the ground. Opening his eyes Viru was shocked to see how little progress he had made.

“It is fine. Not all are gifted at such a thing at first. It takes focus, and you must not focus on the weight, but on the force. It is not you lifting the object but the force. The force is a limitless energy, though your ability to use it is not.” Krayt advised before nodding his head. “Again.” He commanded.

“Yes master.” Viru said his voice gruff. This time he raised both of his hands, fingers splayed wide Viru took Krayt’s advise in. Instead of focusing on how much the rubble weighed he instead focused on simply using the force to pick it up. The energy flowed through him as the invisble grip seized the rubble in its grasp. Viru could feel it, and slowly flipped his hands palm up and started raising them as though trying to lift the rubble. The strain was weighing on him as sweat beaded on his forehead and slid down his tan skin. He continued to hold it just a bit longer before dropping the rubble breathing heavily. His face flushed Viru had only been able to lift the rubble a few inches off the ground.

“It is a very humble beginning, but I feel as though you can do better…. Again.” The gatekeeper commanded not even looking at Viru but at the rubble that remained.

Nodding Viru obeyed the avatar’s commands. He did not need to waste his strength arguing with the gatekeeper. It hadn’t gotten him much of nowhere so far, so it was pointless to continue the uphill battle. Closing his eyes once again Viru called upon the awesome power of the force, and allowed it to flow into his body. Goosebumps rose on his skin as he spread out his hands letting the energy flow through him again.

To Viru it felt almost as if the dessert was a new home to him, he had left his company in the good hands of his friend Grudge to take care of during his disappearance it wouldn’t be shocking if people began to think he was dead. If his math was right he’d been on Tatooine for months learning beneath the holocron, and yet he had only scratched the surface of its teachings. Of the knowledge that it held in reserves to teach him at a later date. His beard had grown much thicker as he had not yet shaved it, and his dreads had been undone quite a while ago. His long brownish-red hair billowed in the wind as he let it free. Once he returned to civilization he’d be sure to get them redone.

Viru had noticeably become much more muscular as even through the loose clothes one could notice his mass. The veins in his neck visible. He had become a new man on Tatooine. Krayt had not lied, the dessert had killed off the old greedy Viru, leaving behind the vestiges of a young man with a vast amount of intelligence, and a growing talent in utilizing the force. Viru stood before the rubble of a new hut and raised both of his hands and at first the rubble startled with a little rumble as it reacted to his will, but soon enough what remained of the hut was lifted free of the ground floating at least a meter off the ground. Now comes the hard part. Viru thought as he swung one of his arms and breaking off from the mass of rubble one of the chunks of stones flew off into the distance. Splitting his concentration even for the fraction of a second it took for Viru to throw the other stone almost led to him dropping the rubble.

His right hand visibly shook as he tried to refocus his will to holding the rubble. “Yes good.” Said the voice of Darth Krayt behind Viru. The holocron had been active most of the day and this was Viru’s third attempt at lifting the rubble and splitting his focus from the large mass to the singular pieces he’d been commanded to break off. It was meant to help him multitask when using the force. Though it was not something easily taught.

Focusing on another one of the stones Viru waved his hand and it flew into the distance as well. He bit his bottom lip as he watched the pile of rubble hover over the ground. Remember you’re simply guiding the force. It’s the force doing the hard part. Viru reminded himself as it was the same advice the gatekeeper had given him when he had first begun his journey into the use of telekinesis.

“Good, that is enough for today. No need to wear yourself out.” Darth Krayt said looking over at the suns as they fell. “Not much daylight left anyway. Return us to the hut so I may speak with you about your training and what it means to be a Sith.”

“Yes master.” Viru said bowing his head.

Sitting in his hut Viru looked at the avatar who had shrunk to fit inside. “For one to be a Sith one must first understand the code of the Sith.” Darth Krayt started his voice powerful. “It is something that most Sith have followed.” Looking down at Viru waiting for any questions he nodded his head in approval when the scientist asked nothing.

“Peace is a lie, There is only Passion.” Krayt started. “This is the first line of the sith code and it speaks true to the galaxy. There is never peace, even as you told me the galaxy is embroiled in war. There can never be complete peace without order. An order that it is up to us Sith to create and guide. All beings are led by their passions, by their emotions. To deny such a thing is the folly of the jedi. These emotions are what not only make us what we are, but as sith is what gives us our power. Anger, hatred, lust. These emotions give us strength and there are others we can draw on. This is the first line of the code.”

“Peace is a lie, There is only Passion.” Viru quoted bowing his head and pondering the words that the gatekeeper had said. It was quite upfront and easy to understand.

“Through passion, I gain strength.” Krayt said but did not continue and instead looked at Viru. “What does it mean?!” He snapped.

“As you said once before master our passions gives us our strength. Our emotions give us power over the force, it allows us to bend the force to our will and to control it.”

“Yes. Through strength I gain power. Our strength in the force and the acceptance of our emotions give us power over not only the force, but over those that do not understand its ways. Us sith are the highest manifestation of the force and it serves us. It bends to our wills and those beneath us are meant to obey. Only the strong may rule.”

“Through strength I gain power.”

“Through power I gain victory… This is perhaps the simplest line of the code to understand. Being what we are we will use our strength and power in the force to make those that deny us whats ours kneel. To break them upon our will.” Krayt said his fist balling.

Nodding his head Viru did not say anything and from the tone Krayt was taking it seemed as though the lessons on the code was coming to an end.

“Finally. Through Victory, our chains are broken. The force Shall free us all.” Krayt said his arms spreading. “Eventually all our enemies shall kneel before us, and either they will obey or perish. The force shall free us from this mortal coil, from this mundane life that we lead. It will guide us to a new path. Repeat it.” Krayt commanded.

“Peace is a lie, there is only passion. Through passion, I gain strength. Through strength I gain power. Through power, I gain victory. Through victory my chains will be broken, the force shall free me.” Viru quoted his head bowed.

“Yes my apprentice. Etch these words into your mind, into your heart and follow them. They will guide you on a better path.” Turning away from Viru the avatar looked out the hut door. “Tomorrow we return to your ship and you may go home. The first step of your training has been completed. It is time we moved on to bigger things.”

Feeling his heart leap in joy Viru held the excitement end not showing it on his face. He could not show such weakness as soon as he had been declared ready to leave. “Yes my master.” Viru said bowing to the avatar.
