Freeing the trapped

Exiting hyperspace in my Domicus-Class Starfighter I watched as stars popped back into existence around me . Checking over the coordinates once more I made sure I was heading to the right planet. Yavin IV had quite a history from what I had studied. Everything from wars waged on the planet to old spirits coming to life and haunting the galaxy. It was so intriguing, but the main thing that brought me here was the thought of the possible knowledge stored on the planet. I broke through the planets Stratosphere with a violent jolt and before I realized it I found myself flying at a massive tree that reached high into the sky.

Feeling my heart jump into my throat I clenched the steering yolk and pulled it back and to the side sending the ship into a barrelroll where I barely dodged the tree though that didn't help to much as another appeared before me. Barely dodging the second the sound of metal screeching filled my ears my cockpit shaking. Within seconds there was a solid jolt causing the air to be knocked from my chest. I had lost control of my descent, the way my ship circled through the sky made me want to puke though I held onto the yolk trying to stabilize the ship. Righting the starfighter just in the nick of time I hit the ground dirt and gravel flying to either side.

My heart was going ninety to nothing as my ivory hands held onto the steering yolk in a death grip shaking uncontrollably. I had never experienced a scare like that in almost all my years of living. It was a struggle to let go of the steering yolk and exit the starfighter. Turns out things weren't as bad as I thought the ship had survived the landing with only a few dents, that could be fixed easily enough. "I just bought this ship and already crashed it." I grumbled to no one in particular as I brushed the silvery white hair out of my face and tried to smooth it back down.

As I worried about my appearance a howl filled my ears causing a shiver to retreat down my spine, and then soon after more joined it. I knew that sound and the owner was something I didn't want to run into. Quickly sealing my fighter I drew my curved hilt saber activating the red blade. It was my fault, due to my transformation into a Force vampire it had turned me into a perversion of the force that radiated like a nexus and attracted monsters easier.

I didn't have to wait long as three Tuk'ata exploded out of the underbrush rushing me with extreme speed. I got a good look at the beast as their shiny black skin almost blended in with the dark and their large sharp teeth dripped with saliva. In unison the three attacked at once the lead springing up in a pounce at me while the second swiped it's claws at my stomach and the last went low trying to bite my legs. Reacting quickly I did a backflip that allowed me to dodge the two at the bottom then midway through I rose my legs to intercept the one that had pounced using the leverage to send it careening over me though it reacted fast enough for one of its claws to dig into my left shoulder ripping through my flesh leaving a huge wound.

Looking over my shoulder I saw the three re-coordinating for another attack, but I didn't give them time. I made a mad dash into the woods running as fast as my legs could carry me. Due to my better physiology then most human's I was faster and could last longer running at full speed, but the Tuk'ata didn't seem to be having that much of a problem keeping up with me. Though using my saber I cut through a nearby tree causing it to fall behind me. A sharp yelp followed me letting me know I had hit my target but soon after I could here more feet coming towards me from almost every direction except forwards.

Calling upon the force I sped up a bit making a full out sprint ahead where I exited the woods to a large ruins that reached high into the sky. It was obvious that at one point it had been a base, but it looked to be uninhabited now. Not that I cared, just needed a place to stay for the night so I could set back out in the morning. Dashing up the steps I heard the Tuk'ata exit the forests, and by the time I was at the top they had reached the stairs about to come up after me. This time however there were about nine of them. Turning to the doors that stood before me I saw the security panel to the side. So I stabbed my lightsaber into it frying the circuits and making the door open.

The tuk'ata were hot on my tail reaching the top of the stairs at around the same time the door opened. I dove through the door as fast as I could and turned stabbing the panel on my side causing the doors to close. The lead Tuk'ata leaped but just wasn't fast enough as the heavy durasteel doors closed around it's middle causing the beast to be ripped in half. The half of its corpse on my side fell to the ground with a wet thump. Looking down at the corpse I spit on it turning my back on the creature and began to walk into the building observing my wound. The tuk'ata had ripped straight through my black cloak leaving a huge tear in it where I could clearly see the claw marks.

Considering lights were on and the building was still being powered I would've thought that there would be others, yet all I felt was one presence in the force. Following the direction it lay in I found myself looking at a bacta tank where a women floated in the healing liquid unconscious. How long had she been here? Why was she here, and where were the people to let her out. Walking over to a nearby console I punched in a few buttons draining the bacta from the tank and freeing the women.

Her consciousness had returned. Slowly, her systems started coming back online. She was leaning with her knees bent below her at the bottom of the now empty tank, her soaking body unclothed and shaking slightly. Her black hair clung to her pink-tinted skin. Slowly, her eyes opened. They flickered a bit, and then began glowing a bright pink. Her emotionless gaze rose from the bottom of the tank to the smooth rounded glass wall containing her. She rose to her feet. Resting a single hand against the tank, she summoned a small bit of Force energy and sent it into the glass. It shattered, but did not fall to the ground. The glass would temporarily hide her, so only her eyes and her sillouette were visible. Then, an arm punched straight through the weakened barrier, and it crumbled to the floor. She stepped out into the room, and her features became more visible. Tiny vein-like streams glowed the same color as her eyes, and peeked out from underneath her skin on her face and other places across her body. Metal implants dotted her figure like patchwork. She was a truly strange sight to behold.

I watched the women lay there inside the now empty tank but before I could even open it she forced it open herself and walked out her naked form apparent to me. My first thought was to drain the force out of the women but something felt off as though she wasn't fully human. The shards of glass covered the ground beneath the women's feet but she didn't seem to be in to much trouble. Getting a good look at her though I finally realized why she didn't have a stronger presence in the force and I didn't have a urge to feed on her like I did other force sensatives. She wasn't completely human. It was quite intriguing how the metal patchwork on her body went with the vein like streams of pink. Taking off my robe I decided to be courteous and hold it out to her. "You're going to need that till we can get you actual clothes. "But who are you?"

Her eyes shifted to the man standing near her. She scanned him, noting his features, his physical structure, and his weaknesses, and then logging the results in a data bank should she need to use them later.

"Humanoid Male. Aged 25 years. Physical structure built for melee combat. Fast-healing wound would suggest long-living species. Force Sensitivity.... Nexus."

Her voice peaked slightly with a bit of interest in her words. She hadn't known that someone could have such an obvious abundance of Force energy. It could be considered as both a strength and a weakness. She logged this as well.

"Greetings. I am Voruu. Subject number 19 of Project Chrysalis."

Hearing the words age 25 come out of the cyborgs mouth I couldn't help but smile. I had appeared close to this age for hundreds of years, and who knew how many more hundreds I would continue to look this way. "Well thank you for the compliment, but I'm not a day beneath 700 add or take a few decades." I joked though I honestly had given up with keeping track of my age. There was no true point to it anymore. "Project Chrysalis? What is that? Is that why you are... What you are?" I asked begining to circle her taking in her full appearance from head to toe. She was quite the interesting being. "What do you remember before being put inside that tank? How old are you?" I asked becoming even more interested in the women by the second. She was almost like me, both nothing but creations though I had went through my own on purpose in search of power. Finally after seeing she wasn't going to take the robe I placed it over her shoulders and quickly backed off scolding myself. I'm not some kiffing, bleeding heart jedi. Why was I still here?

Voruu's eyes tracked his movements as he made his way around her. "Project Chrysalis was enacted by Mother sixteen years and three months ago. After eighteen failed attempts at human synthenization, Mother turned to her Daughter as a final desperate act. She was successful in her experimentation. I was her only, and greatest, creation." She accepted the robe after her eyes scanned it to make sure it had no hidden weapons or mechanisms of any sort.

Walking back infront of Voruu I couldn't help myself at covering the look of disgust that covered my face. Not at Voruu but at the thought that someone would use their child as a test subject. Who would do that to their own child? Even I who walked a path darker then most wouldn't stoop to that level. "Where is this mother now? Where is everybody? Why is this place abandoned? Shouldn't someone been here to care for you?" I asked. I was keen to get to the bottom of this. No one should've done this experiment. I wanted answers and I wanted them now but I was sure Voruu wouldn't be able to answer them all.

"I do not know," Voruu said. "With the acceleration serum, Mother made my body fully mature in a mere eight years. She then added a slowering agent to my cells so that I would age slower than other humans. She claimed that I was almost complete. That I was lacking something. The bacta tank was so that I could fully regain my strength and heal every wound on my body. I would assume that somewhere in that time, three months to be exact, Mother left. It is obvious by the emptiness you claim of the building that she has not returned."

Wait if this girl aged slower then regular humans just how old was she and how long would she be able to live? Now that I freed her how would she survive? There wasn't much I knew about her, and she didn't seem to know what had happened to the others. Sighing I only had one option. I had to help her off the planet, I couldn't just leave her here to starve or be killed by Tuk'ata. Holding out my hand to her in a greeting I said "Call me Sosu. I guess I'm your savior and your caretaker till we get off of this planet." Or who knows how much longer. I thought to myself.

Voruu looked down at his hand, and then back up at his face. Her expression was blank. She didn't really know what to make of Sosu's hand being offered to her. No one had ever showed her what that meant, or even done it for her for that matter. She observed her surroundings, and then looked toward the door. "Full systems alert. Defensive programs online." She walked over to the door and slowly opened it. There were no other lifeforms besides the two of them inside that section of the facility at the moment. Stepping out into the hallway, she began making her way toward the small weapons cache near the end of the corridor.

I couldn't help but be shocked as Voruu simply looked down at my hand and then back at my face. It seemed as though she were more machine then human. She could've had a normal life, lived like normal human's enjoying their time, who knows she may have even been able to become a Sith or jedi. Shaking my head I followed her watching her carefully. "What do you plan on doing?" I asked "I have a starfighter if you want to get off of this planet." I offered.

Voruu made it to the sealed doors of the weapons cache. The entrance keypad next to it was down, and there was no way to turn it on. Her eyes found that the seam where the doors met weren't structurally sound. So, she placed both hands on the seam and wedged her fingers into it. With one movement, she pulled the doors apart. It would have taken a crowbar or explosives to open the door, and yet she pulled them apart with ease. Stepping into the tiny space, Voruu picked up a single double-sided electrostaff. She turned to Sosu. "Weapons collection is advisable. Take what you can wield."

Quite impressed by Voruu's display of strength I walked into the armory behind her examining the room and all the weapons that laid with. Rifles lined the walls along with electro staff and other types of armaments, but none of it was appealing to me. There was nothing I truly needed in there. "Don't worry I have my own weapons." I said patting the three lightsabers that were clipped to my belt. "Though what exactly do you plan on doing? You can't just run out there into the wild naked."

Voruu considered this. It would be rather dangerous to expose her still mostly human body to the jungle without some sort of protection. But other than the robe Sosu had given her, there were no clothes around. She'd just have to make do. "Clothing is not a priority at this time. Exiting the facility is my main objective." She took a sniper rifle and secured it onto her back with a strap that went diagonally across her torso. For the time being, these weapons would do fine. Then she began heading toward the main hall, which led to the exit. She did not know if Sosu would follow her, and it wasn't really anything she was concerned with at the moment. She just wanted to GET OUT.

Slapping my hand against my face I ignored the sharp pain it brought and tried to center my mind. What was this women thinking. I had just got my arm clawed by a Tuk'ata and she wanted to go out there naked. Why was she so insistent on exiting the facility now? "It is nightime out there and there are predators, there is no reason to go out just yet. Just stay here till morning and I'll take you to my starship and we can leave this planet." I offered.

Voruu's emotions flared for a moment. She stopped and looked at Sosu, her luminescent eyes glaring at him. "If you spent your entire existence in this facility, with the same walls and the same treatments and the same faces around you, locked away from the rest of the world, how long would you stay when given the chance to leave? How much would you hunger to see the beauty of the moonlight, or to hear the rain fall against the leaves in the trees, or to feel the sunlight kiss your skin?" Her words were oddly passionate. "You can wait in here to your heart's content, Mr. Deviron. But I have waited long enough." With that, she swiftly continued walking, leaving him behind her.

Jerking back as though I'd been slapped I was shocked by the amount of emotion that Voruu had just shown. She was still human somewhere deep beneath the skin and circuits that ran through her. She just wanted freedom like everyone else, and somehow I had forgotten that emotion. It may have been centuries but I still had a vague notion on when I was imprisoned upon a ship and wanted nothing more then to be free. Walking forward a few steps I walked beside her instead of following her. "You're completely right, but I can't let you go out there alone."

"My systems are functioning at 100% and rising steadily. I require no assistance at this time," Voruu replied, her monotone voice returning. She was not one to ask for help of any kind. She knew how to get the job done, thanks to her Mother's brutal training tactics.

"Who said you had a choice in the matter whether I helped you or not?" I asked Voruu as we together. "You're not going to be able to get off this planet without some type of help and considering I didn't see anyone else I was officially nominated. I joked with her a bit. Though I was actually somewhat concerned and still interested in what type of creation she was. It had to of taken years to have accomplished something of this magnitude.

Voruu looked at him questioningly. "I was not aware that there was a board or council voting upon the matter." Yeah. Humor wasn't exactly her strongest point of thought. Finally, they reached the door. Her eyes scanned the remains of a creature's severed remains in front of it. "Species: Tuk'ata. Pre-mature male. Fatal injury: Severance from lower abdomen." She bent down and swiped up some of the blood on her fingertips. She held her fingers to her lips and licked them. "The temperature and flavor of the blood would suggest that death was no less than thirty minutes ago."
