Pyke Exile
Frej Thylvan in his signature protective envirosuit.
OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
- Intent: To create a villain for a future thread, and expand on the lore of Doan.
- Role: The ruler of the planet Doan, whose authority will be challenged.
- Permissions: N/A
- Links: Envirosuit, Doan, Bacta Tank
- Age: 37
- Force Sensitivity: Non-Force User
- Species: Pyke
- Appearance: Frej Thylvan is a 1.96 meter tall Pyke. He has a rather bulky frame by Pyke standards. His physical appearance is mostly concealed by his protective envirosuit, which he wears due to an accident he had several years ago. Under the suit, he is horrifyingly disfigured and covered in acid burns, but he never lets anyone see this.
- Name: Frej Thylvan, Supervisor of Doan (official title), “Supervisor Sootsmog (nickname among Doan’s populace)”
- Loyalties: Pyke Syndicate
- Wealth: Thylvan is reasonably wealthy, but far less so than other Pyke planetary supervisors. He is not concerned with personal material wealth, and is content with a proportionately meager salary from the profits of Doan’s mining operations.
- Notable Possessions: Thylvan’s most noteworthy possession is the protective envirosuit he constantly wears. While he technically does not need it to live, it relieves a great deal of his physical pain, and allows him to move around much more easily. The suit also gives him enhanced strength comparable to that of an adult Wookiee, thanks to the unusual presence of hydraulic systems in the suit’s limbs, not unlike those of Phase 4 Dark Trooper Armor. He also owns a Bacta Tank in order to bathe in, as his acid burns prevent him from taking a bath or showering normally.
- Skills: Administrative Management, Blaster/Hand-to-Hand Combat, Spice Production
- Languages: Pyke (primary language), Galactic Basic (fluent), Huttese (fluent), Durese (fluent)
- Personality: Thylvan is a very somber and humorless individual. He is task-minded to a fault, and goes out of his way to make everyone around him adopt a similar attitude. More than anything, he hates engaging in small talk. With all of this seriousness, he does not take kindly to jokes made at his expense, either. He is very loyalty to the Pyke Syndicate, but this loyalty does not come from traditional patriotism. Rather, he is loyal because working for the Syndicate gives his life purpose and direction which he would be aimless without. He is rather callous with those under his authority, mostly seeing them as resources to achieve larger goals.
- Weapon of Choice: A heavily modified CC-420 Pistol.
- Combat Function: Thylvan is usually content to issue orders to his troops from the distance, but if he is personally confronted by an enemy, he will not hesitate to fight back. His personal CC-420 Blaster is modified to have an increased rate of fire and ammo capacity, effectively turning it into a semi-automatic weapon. For close-range, he is adept at hand-to-hand combat, and his suit’s enhanced abilities mean that he is nearly impossible to win against with bare fists and feet.
- Force Abilities (Force Users Only): N/A
- Enhanced Strength: His protective envirosuit’s hydraulic systems give his strength far beyond what Pykes are naturally capable of.
- Durable: The suit can take a good deal of damage before being breached. This includes several high-impact blaster shots, and even a lightsaber would take a few seconds to cut through.
- Analytical: Thylvan is naturally good at deductive reasoning, and drawing conclusions based on what he observes.
- Pragmatic: While Thylvan is by no means principled, he never goes out of his way to by unnecessarily evil.
- Anti-Social: Frej Thylvan does not willingly socialize with others. He will find just about any excuse not to accept invitations to social events, and for those he cannot wiggle out of, he will just stand awkwardly in the corner of the room, waiting for it to end.
- Envirosuit Can Be Damaged: While Thylvan’s protective envirosuit has internal armor plating, it can be breached with a sufficiently powerful attack. If this happens, he will be incapacitated with overwhelming pain almost instantly.
Frej Thylvan was born on the planet Oba Diah to a pair of rather unremarkable parents. Like many youths on his planet, he joined the Pyke Syndicate in his teenage years. His skill for management and lack of personal greed caught the eye of his superiors, and at the age of 25, he was assigned to manage an important spice factory. Under his leadership, the factory increased its output by a large margin, earning him further recognition. However, this also made him a few enemies within the Syndicate. Perhaps then, it was no coincidence that a barrel of industrial acid spilled onto him during a routine tour of his factory’s floor. Thylvan nearly died in this incident, and took months to recover. Even then, his wounds left him in constant pain, so the Syndicate outfitted him with a protective envirosuit. He has worn the suit constantly since then, only taking it off for things like sleeping, bathing or eating.
Thylvan maintained his position as factory manager for a few more years, before being promoted to manage an administrative region of the Pyke-controlled planet of Mon Gazza. In this capacity, he worked directly under Baroness Lansha Aontis, the ruler of the planet. When she became involved in a plot to overthrow the Syndicate’s current leadership, Thylvan managed to learn of this, and reported it accordingly. This directly led to Aontis’ arrest and imprisonment. As a reward for this, Thylvan was given yet another promotion. This time, he would be assuming control over the newly-acquired planet of Doan.
In his new role as Supervisor of Doan, Thylvan doubled down on his ruthlessly pragmatic approach to management. He imposed increased ore quotas on the planet’s miners, and approved the use of mining methods which resulted in increased ore yields, but rather extreme environmental consequences. In fact, thanks to him, Doan’s atmosphere is now classified as Breathmask Recommended. This has earned him the nickname “Supervisor Sootsmog” from Doan’s populace. He personally detests the nickname, and has issued a decree to censor it from the media.
