Fringe Force Order

I know, I know, this has been brought up before and shot down. But before you start ruthlessly firing your AA cannons let's kick around the idea a little more.

A Fringe Force Order would do two things. The first is that it would help to better organize the Fringe and give better cohesiveness to the Fringe Forcers who we have. The problem with organization is that nobody wants a stifling bureaucracy. It's why many of you left whatever faction you were in in the first place and came to the Fringe. Trust me, I don't want a Big Brother order either. But as we continue to grow we need something that brings us together specifically as Force Users and gives us some accountability.

The second benefit is that this would help bond old members and attract newer members. Go look at the CIS Templars. You might think "well that's silly" but a well ordered, nice-looking system is extremely attractive to new members. I'm not suggesting we become Templars. Or build our own templar order. What I am suggesting is that we kick around the idea of having our own force order.

This Force order would have to be one that brought our many backgrounds together under one banner that, while unifying, does not strangle our freedoms.

The first order that comes to mind is the Potentium:
http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Potentium

There is no light, there is no dark. There is only the Force and the Force is good. Each individual has the capacity to do right and wrong and that individual alone is to be held accountable for their actions.

Not only does it get rid of these nasty Light vs Dark divisions, it also presents a banner under which all can unite.

Thoughts? Alternative Suggestions? Flaming? Trolling?

No thank you, Smaug.

Okay but seriously for a second. Part of what drew me to Fringe was the fact that it had no big Force Order. Its a huge melting pot of Sith, Jedi, Neutrals, Dark Jedi, etc... and honestly i love that.

Potentium is not at all a melting pot. Its a specific set of beliefs following the view of the living force. I for example would not at all fit into the Potentium view of the force.

You know, I like how the Fringe lets you go train as you please. It's one of the things that I'm stoked about here. Having a Fringe-Specific FU community seems a bit redundant to me, as it's not like we could have character tags which specifically state it.

What would be the advantage?

Not hating at all here, I just love the fact that the Fringe having no Force Order means no stringent commitments. You get to be your own man in the Fringe, that's what makes the faction what it is.

My strong suggestion would be that whoever wants to do Potentium or Gray Paladins or Prophets or whatever can do that. We can feature it, we can support it, but we'd never make people conform their characters to something they might not be.

@[member="Rave Merrill"] <Jon knows whats up. Really I like the idea of having no real order, because then we get the part about the fringe where its all fair game. And people only work together out of respect instead of just being told that they have to. it just works bettter that way in my mind.

I can see the merit to having an organized grouping of the Fringe FUs, as it will give people a little bit more guidance, especially new members joining. IME joining the Fringe can be a bit overwhelming because it's kind of a free-for-all. Unless you already know someone, it can be somewhat difficult to work your way into the thick of things. Of course, that can go for any and all factions.

I can also understand what the others here are saying. Having no limitations as to what you can do with your character is a big draw for the Fringe. It's one of the faction's unique claims to fame. There's really.... no other faction that has this.

In the end, if it's a creative endeavor you wish to pursue I will support my fellow writers and do what I can to help make it happen. I may or may not join it, ICly, but endgame is a good story, is it not?

The Omega Protectorate, despite being designed to have a very top-down structure, does not have an organised order of force-users either. Well, the Omega Order would sound a bit...lame, to me at least. But you are quite right in general, no other faction offers the same amount of freedom as Fringe.

Regardless, I agree with @[member="Rave Merrill"]. If people want to organise their own force-using group by all means - given the inclusive nature of Fringe I could in theory see a plethora of orders rising up, speaking strictly lore-wise - provided it is not compulsory.
