Fringe Operation (Spencer)

@[member="Spencer Jacobs"]

Annaj was a changing place. The capital of the Fringe was rapidly becoming a viable and powerful planet in its own right.
It was only appropriate that Tamara would end up there eventually.

Did the wanderer have a reason to end up on Annaj right at that moment? In fact she did. She had recently come into possession of some highly valuable items and was looking to do a trade. After all, even mysterious vagabonds needed cash. Plus, since the items she had to trade were highly valuable she had managed to get a high ranking member of the Fringe to meet her.

So at the appointed time she went to the appointed place and waited. She hoped she would not have to wait long….

Spencer wandered aimlessly for a moment till she found where they were supposed to meet. She hadn't figured there were any board rooms in the Annaj HQ of the Fringe, but every day you learn something new. Spencer entered the room and set things up for herself, a guard stood by the door just in case this @[member="Tamara"] woman was something she didn't say she was. Sitting in the chair she waved her hand towards one the guard and he went to get the woman. He towered over her for a moment and grunted which was obviously a sign for her to follow him. The Guard lead Tamara down a long hallway and into the board room. Another grunt which indicated that they were here and she should be good.

"Tamara right?" Spencer stood and extended her hand towards the wanderer. "I'm Spencer Jacobs of the Fringe Confederacy, pleasure to meet you."

Tamara looked up, smiled at the guard, and followed willingly. Scans had shown she was unarmed and her little shoulder bag contained only miscellaneous items, none of which were dangerous. Well, except for the item in question, stored in a sealed box. Having shown the guard it was not explosive though, she had been let in.

Now facing the somewhat famed Spencer Jacobs, she shook the hand warmly, smiled, sat.
“Ms Jacobs, a pleasure. I’ve been wanting to meet you for some time, but never had the opportunity. I have something here which might interest you, I hope. I’m not really an information broker, so apologies if I am not attributing the right amount of sleaze and graft on these proceedings. However, what I have here is information on an extremely valuable piece of, hmm, salvage. It is from the Dark Times, after the fall of the Old Republic to Emperor Palpatine, and contains Jedi artefacts and lore thought lost forever. Are you interested?”

Whilst she talked Tamara studied Spencer carefully. They appeared much the same age, but both had done far more than their mere ages might suggest.
As for Tamara herself, Spencer would be able to sense the Force about her, but the exact nature of it would be difficult to determine. Tamara was certainly no Jedi, but even more so she was not a Sith.

Spencer made note of the force signature, but this wasn't the time to play Qui-Gon Jinn and count the midi-chlorians of the woman before her. She thought about the lore and the artifacts before her, of course she would want the items to study and add to her personal collection. Yet, something in the back of her mind made her eyebrow raise wondering where the woman would have gotten them. The young Master folded her hands into her lap as she sat back down into her seat. Eyes studying the woman before her and she continued to smile.

"I would love the artifacts, I feel like someone might have tipped you off for my love of these things. Though I do have a small question for you @[member="Tamara"] , where did you obtain such things? How do I know that these are proper artifacts and not something ripped off? I know nothing of you, so please share your story with me." The master smiled through the entire statement, she waited of course to hear how the woman had come across the artifacts and hopefully a bit of background fluff.

“Let’s just say I had access to…inside information. The artefacts are genuine. There is a slight problem however; I don’t actually have them. The issue is that I know where they are, I’ve seen the wrecked ship, but I cannot get there. I have no ship of my own and none of the correct equipment. However, if you were to provide those to me I could recover these items with your assistance.”

“As for me? Well, I’m just someone who has an interest in ancient relics. I am, perhaps, a more genteel vagabond.”
Genteel indeed. Her clothes and gear were expensive but well used. For what it was worth, she seemed to be telling the truth, especially about the first things. Though of course, there were obviously things she wasn’t telling….

Spencer raised her eyebrow at this. The woman didn't have any resources to gain access to these relics nor did she even have the relics just information. Spencer leaned back in her chair contemplating the request, it wasn't like she was some Spanish Queen willing to offer a Christopher Columbus money and ships to find India or whatever place he was looking for. All she knew was that this woman was trying to get money and a ship from a government. Spencer narrowed her eyes searching for some reason to doubt this woman. Spencer eyed the equipment and clothing she wore which also raised red flags. One thing Spencer hated was being treated like a fool and she did her best to keep her emotions from rising to the surface.

"So, you need me to fund you? How do I know you're not a con-artist looking for an easy way to a ship and credits? What are you going to give me till you return - something of course you're not willing to part with? I need to trust you Vagabond." @[member="Tamara"]

Tamara spread her hands wide. “I don’t want to steal from you, Ms Jacobs. If you wish for me to go as an observer on one of your ships, or even as an escorted passenger. I do expect some sort of reward from this enterprise – but a reward you give me.”

“If you would rather, I can go and hire a pilot to take me there and bring the items back to you. Whatever the case, I don’t have a ship of my own, and I don’t have deep space gear necessary for this sort of expedition.”

“I have the location – you tell me how you want me to get there, and what part you want in it.”

She smiled warmly at Spencer, appearing to be entirely innocent in her requests.

"I don't trust you."

Her words were simple and she stood from her chair. Shuffling some papers she paused and then looked back at the woman. "I was born at night and it wasn't last night. Get a ship bring the goods here and I'll reward you." [member="Tamara"]

“Then so shall it be [member="Spencer Jacobs"].”
Tamara smiled, turned, and left.

This writer’s hopes for an actual adventure thread thwarted, a summary of what happened will follow next post.
Until then, Spencer was left alone to attend her duties in peace.
