Private From a Distance

Kesh was a world Seo Linn had never been to. Sometimes it seemed that wars never ended. There was always the need for the Jedi to answer the call of those in need. The Force brought her here and she now stood looking across the ruins of what was once a beautiful city.

Their culture here appeared to be set a little back in time, but who was she to question this? All the Knight knew was aid was needed and that was why she was here.

So far, she was among the first to arrive. That was probably because of the Voice that told her to come here. Not a voice in any physical sense, but more the will of the Force. Listening to that almost more than the Masters, she didn't even know if any additional aid was going to come or not.

Wearing clothing not typical of a Jedi, she would better fit a desert than the city around her. What she did wear were tones of tans and browns. Around her neck was a scarf and mixed through everything were some gold threads. On her hip was a lightsaber hilt and that was the only sign of what she was.

Brushing hair back from her golden eyes, she bent down to start work. A gust of wind brought in the sound of other ship arriving. Finishing picking up the debris that was in front of her, she added it to the growing pile and looked up to see several ships coming in for a landing.

A small smile appeared on her lips. These were Jedi ships and were here to help. She wasn't going to be alone in this task. Approaching the first ship, she waited not too far from it and watch the troops exit. It would be nice to see a familiar face, but that was too much to hope for. Besides, Seo hardly spent any time with them on Kashyyyk, she didn't actually know many other of the Silvers.

The first transport emptied and the next one landed. More of the same type exited, but she was keeping count. How many had come? This was a bit of a surprise, but she was quite thankful for them. Finally, the last one landed and a few more people got off. Something was different here, these people weren't the same as the others. Here there were Knights and Padawans. People she could easily converse with.

One of the last people to leave was an extremely tall individual. He was covered from head to toe. Finding this a little odd, but not unheard of her, Seo was very curious about him. Normally, she would try to hide her interest, but among the Jedi, most of her mask changed and she was more open. Today was no exception to this rule. Surrounded now by the troops, she felt confident in being open.

War was a dark business. Death was in of itself a regrettable thing that almost every being in the galaxy would eventually have to go through. War turned that regrettable event into an equation. How many people could you kill, how many lives can you destroy, and how many destinies can be lost for the least expenditure of the same in return. War was something that the galaxy would be better off without, but it would never be gone. All one could do was try and help pick up the pieces after the fighting had stopped.

And that was exactly what Darius was doing.

Kesh had been hit hard recently in such a conflict. Multiple different organizations had rolled in and torn into each other, fighting a conflict that was not unique. Lives had been lost, homes destroyed, victories gained and lost. In the end, they left, some in triumph, others in bitter regret, but the people of Kesh had been left to deal with the aftermath. The Order had taken it upon themselves to send relief supplies and medical personnel to try and help the people of Kesh rebuild and to treat those in need. Darius had been eager to volunteer for the expedition and had been in one of the first ships to leave. Oddly enough though, he had been stuck on one of the last ships to land.

As Darius walked down the ramp of the ship, many of the other medical personnel and Jedi moving out of his way, he locked eyes with Seo Linn Seo Linn across the clearing they were in. She had been watching the new arrivals as they disembarked, and at first glance might have been confused with the locals. However, Darius could feel the familiar connection and strength of the force flowing through her and around her. The lightsaber at her hip was also a clue. Breaking through the milling troops and doctors waiting for further orders, Darius approached Seo. Stopping a few feet from her, he gave her a brief bow, appearing to almost tip over due to his body's natural state of leaning forward.

"Friend Jedi, it is a pleasure to see another of us here to help."

The troops seemed to know better what was needed of them than the Jedi. It appeared that this might be the first time some of these Padawans had actually seen the effects of war in person. Some of them must have lead sheltered lives and this was their first exposure. Some doctors had also come to see to the injured and this also pleased her. Help was help and anything could be used. If she had known medics were coming, she would have arranged to have a medical center set up. Too late now. They would have to get that set up and that might be why the Padawans were present.

As they grouped up to get their instructions, the tall figure broke away and approached her. He gave her an odd-looking bow and she returned it with a nod.

"I could say the same thing. I'm glad you're here. My name is Seo Linn."

Tuning out the conversation going on around them, Darius had her attention. If he expected her to show any outward reaction to how he looked, he would be mistaken. People came in all shapes, sizes, and races. She just accepted and welcomed him to these activities.

Giving him a slight smile, it was sometimes difficult for her to show emotions. Growing up on Lorrd, she had been taught not to give anything away. Kinetic speech and body language were things she knew and understood as well as Basic. Give her a few days on a planet, she would be able to speak almost like a native and fit in as one. That time wasn't given to her on Kesh, but she didn't need to. Her job wasn't to infiltrate but to help.

"Where do you want to get started?"
