Strengths:
- Sturdy: Designed to withstand a variety of temperatures, collisions, heat, and energy, the robust shields and armor of the Corellian Light Tanker made the small logistics vessel surprisingly sturdy.
- Rocket Fuel for Blood: Like most CEC ships, the FT-90 was a quick ship. Its rear was packed with engines that carried it quickly through the stars.
- Mobile Tanker: The FT-90 was a mobile tanker. Smaller enough to be carried on larger vessels like heavy cruisers, Star Destroyers, Star Defenders, and battlecruisers, it was able to refuel starfighters mid-flight and a properly equipped crew could even perform light repairs on starfighters mid-flight.
- Turn Radius: Its bulky form and powerful engines made it difficult for the FT-90 to maneuver both in space and in atmosphere.
- No Teeth: With just a laser cannon turret to defend itself it was easily overtaken and destroyed by most everything.
- Fuel Pods: When filled with fuel they could cause a violent explosion if assaulted.
- Ion Weapons: Has no protection against Ion weapons
- Brain Dead: While it did have a navicomputer, without an astromech jumps could take long periods of time to calculate.
- No Vacancy: Without a fully crewed vessel, the light tanker was as good as useless in the field
The FT-90 was a blue collar vessel at heart however and their captains loved them despite the close quarters of the crew. The tanker had space for six crew members: the pilot, co-pilot and navigator, gunner, engineer, repair tech, and fuel technician. Often supporting the crew were astromech or maintenance droids which were used to calculate hyperspace jumps, manage resources, and repair the tanker itself. The vessel's first deck was used to store a modest amount of cargo which usually included supplies for the FT-90's crew but could easily hold tools, spare parts for common ships, and other less reputable goods and contraband.
The success of the FT-90 would see its use extend long past what was expected of any one ship with many ship captains taking pride in being able to trace back their tankers to ancient battles and trade wars. Far past its prime, it was one of few old designs that CEC still produced new. Modern variants had moderately better technology but stayed essentially the same, propelling the design hundreds of years past its prime. The vessel saw extensive use within the Corellian Confederation's navy aboard large fleet carriers and remote space stations, keeping Corellian pilots fueled and repaired during long recon missions and extensive tours away from friendly space. It wasn't uncommon to find these vessels in the hands of smugglers, pirate fleets, and in private use for wandering repairmen.
