- No hyperdrive, requiring a carrier to carry it from one battleground to the next
Description:
The Wakizaki-class Starfighter was based upon designs of the Saboath Starfighter as well as remnants of the Galactic Empire's modality of combat: overwhelming the enemy with superior force. In order to reduce production time and cost as well as allow for more powerful engine systems, the hyperdrive and shielding systems were removed from the design. Furthermore, the two laser cannons were replaced with ion cannons in order to allow the Wakizaki to be used as a tool of enforcement, rather than combat.
An impressive starfighter for intercepting enemy starfighters, the Wakizaki provides the crucial anti-starfighter capacities necessary in order to enforce effective system control, considering that the opponent simply has small vessels. In larger combat settings, due to the presence of more extensive anti-starfighter weapons on larger warships, the Wakizaki loses its effectiveness and thus, falls out of favor from officers. Thus, the Wakizaki has fallen into the role as an enforcer and patrol craft within secured systems.
