Good Ol' Scoundrel
Image Source: DeviantArt, but pretty sure it's from CoD: MW3.
Intent: To create the first product of Corondex Arms' portfolio of energy-coated slugthrowers.
Development Thread: If Needed
Manufacturer: Corondex Arms
Model: G-35
Affiliation: Closed market. Sold via marketplace thread or IC thread.
Modularity: Modular in terms of the fact that it has a universal rail system on top and bottom for scopes or grenade launchers.
Production: Mass Produced
Material: Duraplast, bowcaster components (explained in description), slugthrower components.
Classification: Energy-coated Slugthrower // Assault Rifle.
Size: Handheld
Length: 0.89m
Weight: 3kg (with full-loaded magazine)
Ammunition Type: Energy-coated slugs, similar to wookie bowcaster bolts.
Ammunition Capacity: 35 slugs per magazine. 65 if drum magazine.
Effective Range: 300m; Maximum: 1km.
Rate of Fire: Fully-automatic
Special Features:
- Energy-coated slugs: Within the chamber, the slugs pass through a highly energizing field after the trigger is pulled. The mechanism of firing the slugs is the standard spring-primer-propellant unlike the magnetic fields used in the wookie bowcasters.
- Rate of Fire: At around 1000 rounds per minute, the G-35 is a perfect weapon to deliver suppressive fire upon opposition.
- Ammunition Type: The energy-coated slugs not only possess high stopping power but the thermal energy released from the miniature explosions when the slugs hit is capable of creating small dents on heavier armors and piercing lighter armors.
- Hard to deflect: The ammunition, although can be stopped by a lightsaber dead in its tracks if one can withstand the kinetic energy behind it or match its speed, cannot be deflected. It is simply disintegrated within the containment field of the lightsaber.
- Reliable and cheap: Cheap to produce due to using ancient technology, the G-35 is also reliable. Although ion damage will disable the energizing field within the chamber of the weapon, the fact that the rifle utilizes the ancient mechanical way of firing the bullets makes the weapon still capable of firing slugs, although not energized anymore. Additionally, it could be used as a bludgeoning weapon if complete disabled.
- Unbelievable recoil: The G-35 is very, very poor when it comes to recoil. The kickback the user receives from this weapon makes it very inaccurate if one is shooting quicker. The rifle will bounce around like an untamed beast. With more controlled firing, it can deliver average-to-good results at its optimum range but never excellent.
- Loud: The G-35 is not a stealth weapon. With most contemporary weapons which utilize technologies such as the magnetic field in shatter rifles or simple blaster rifles where the sound emitted from firing is nothing too much, the G-35 is the complete opposite. Firing it sounds like missiles hitting the ground.
- Ion/EMP: Ion or EMP damage will disable the energizing field within the chamber and turn this into a simple quick-firing slugthrower.
Gad Ignashevic, the creator of this rifle, created this with the sole focus on the three points that describe the company's products - cheap, reliable, deadly. It uses standard mechanic firing methods to propel the slugs within the rifle greatly decreasing the cost per unit but also making the weapon reliable in situations where blaster rifles would be completely disabled. The energizing field within is directly influenced from the notorious wookie bowcasters.
With high stopping power and rate of fire, the G-35 is capable of being used in all sorts of environments making it a very universal weapon. One of its greater drawbacks is the recoil that the weapon delivers making it perform poorly on accuracy tests. Spraying a target with a magazine would most likely result in 1/4 to 1/2 actually hitting the target and even then it is important where one hits the target.
The energy-coating, just like the energy-coated quarrels, results in a miniature explosion when hitting a surface. This makes it a dangerous weapon against lightsaber-wielding foes or those with heavier armors. The thermal energy released is able to create small-to-average dents in heavier armors while it would also shake the grip of the lightsaber wielding foe. The slugs not being able to be deflected is also a plus but they cannot pass through a lightsaber as well, simply being disintegrated into the lightsaber's containment field.
Compared to contemporary technology and competitive weapons, the G-35 is very loud. It could be easily heard all around and serves like a beacon to its source making it an unreliable weapon in commando/stealth-types of missions or when one is attempting to escape greater odds by surgically striking and moving along.
