STRENGTHS
  • Zippy Boi: The SkyViper is designed with Maneuverability and Speed at the forefront. It's speed and ability to manuver allow it to dodge incoming fire, and allows it the ability to outrun some starcraft.
  • Built Si Tough: Designed with the intention of going head first into a combat zone, the SkyViper is designed to shrug off anything short of heavy anti-air. Between the heavy shielding and the several layers of armor, The SkyViper is a tough bird to knock out of the sky.
  • Sight Beyond Sight: The SkyViper's sensor suite allows it to see for miles beyond it's own range, and this can be extended beyond that with the deployment of recon probe droids from it's rear. It's LIDAR is capable of picking up invisible ground targets, and cutting through foliage. This also includes a superb warning system that allows the pilot to react to incoming threats instantaneously.
  • VTOL: The Skyviper is perfectly capable of hovering in place, as well as holding entirely still for the unloading of the squad it can carry inside it's rear cargo hold. It's ability for verticle take off allows it to deploy right off the back of star ships or tanks,
WEAKNESSES
  • Not a Space Ship: While the Skyviper is designed to be space worthy, it's not designed for space travel. It requires larger ships to deliver it from planet to planet, and is only designed for short extra-atmospheric flights.
  • Firepower Lacking: While the SkyViper is designed to act as a heavy air to ground asset, it's ability to defend against dedicated air-to-air fighters is lacking.
  • High Skill Ceiling: Much like a starfighter, the Skyviper requires extensive training in order for the pilot to truly grasp the level of maneuverability this vehicle has.
DESCRIPTION
Following the Invasion of Coruscant, Si Tech did an extensive inquiry on the failures of the GADF during the defense. While the GADF held strong, one of the determinations of the aftermath was a lack of heavy air-to-ground firepower that could have assisted in the urban hell of Coruscant's many corridors.

The solution was the SkyViper, a VTOL Airspeeder that was designed to act as a squad-based transport and fire support for the boots on the ground, with all the same technology as it's sisters the Ziio and Roc. The added benefit being it's exceptional maneuverability and speed, allowing it to zip around any environment, and allows it to engage enemies from low altitudes without worry of reprisal.
