Technical Specifications
Classification: Multipurpose Warplate (Vacuum/Hostile Environment.)Weight: 30 Kg (Including Kit.)
Quality: Eight
- Energy Weapon Resistance: Utilizing the three-fold method of protection provided by the Duraplast armor plates, the armorweave bodyglove, and the flex-armor, the GADF-BDU-01 allows the armour to safely withstand/disperse a Blaster's particle bolt. (Provided it's not fired from a canon or a disruptor.) Due to the duraplast and armorweave materials used in the construction of the battle Dress Uniform, it provides a moderate amount of protection from lightsabers. (Glancing blows only.)
- Kinetic Resistance: With the metallic density of the duraplast plating reinforced by the addition of flex-armor, the GADF-BDU-01 is able to absorb the lethal trajectory of an archaic projectile and safely disperse it's kinetic kickback over a small area. This has been noted to stop the bullet, unless rated at .50 calibre or higher, but is unable to stop the forces of Newton's law from keeping the soldier within truly safe from harm, which more often than not, results in heavy bruising, and/or internal bleeding around the impact site.]
- Melee/Shrapnel Resistance: Through the use of the heavy duraplast plating, flex armour, and the armourweave bodyglove, the GADF-BDU-01 provides excellent resistance to various melee weapons ranging from primitive to the more exotic (Depending entirely on where the soldier is struck, obvious flaws in this claim come from the moderately protected joints and the weapon being used.) as well as protection from shrapnel/flechettes (Depending entirely on where the soldier is struck, as various governments employ differing variants of grenades and flechettes, which may result in hamstringing the soldier if caught in the open/ within the detonation range.)
- EWAR Resistance (EMP/Ion): As the Helmet of the BDU contains sensitive electronics to assist the bearer in battle, EMP/Ion resistant materials were woven into the delicate latticework to protect the integrated digital systems from a myriad of E/War attacks (EMP's, Ionic Discharge, Etc.) so that the soldier may continue to operate with little to no interruption in the constant feed of tactical data displayed across their visor.

Strengths: - Infantry Armour: With the use of reinforced Duraplast plating over the antiquated Plastoid and Betaplast materials, this heavy metal can provide a Soldier with additional protection from enemy fire, be it plasmatic, kinetic, or sonic, allowing them to operate safely in front of, or behind enemy lines. As the density of the metal is much thicker than that of durasteel, the armor's exterior can deflect glancing blows from lightsabers - however, the plating is unable to withstand direct penetration and thus will fail when either attacked by a skilled duelist. Though the plating itself covers much of the soldier's form, for the sake of mobility, the GADF-BDU-01 utilizes Flex-armour to cover the joints so that the most vital areas of a Soldier's range of motion are offered a modicum of protection that the Duraplast could not cover. Thus, while not as effective as higher classifications of battle armor available to Commandos and Private Military Corporations, the GADF-BDU-01 retains it's rightly earned a place as one of the most advanced suits of armor in the galaxy.
- Flex-Armour: Designed to act as a lightweight and flexible textile, through the weaves of durasteel and reinforced ceramics, Flex-armour can withstand incoming blaster fire and kinetic projectiles. However, despite the apparent strength, it's weakness lies in the material's inability to protect from harmful weapons like armor-piercing slugs, heavy blaster rifles/cannons, and various heavy weaponry, therefore making the joints of the armor priority targets for enemy snipers or skilled marksmen/duelists.
- Training Requirement: Because the GADF-BDU-01 is a heavy armor, and comes with a plethora of highly technological advancements, there is a significant training pre-requisite needed before a Soldier can fully operate the suit to it's fullest potential in the field. This drawback means that more strength, endurance, and cardio training is required by the Soldier's that wear this armor to counteract the increased strain that's placed upon their bodies. With the addition of a sophisticated suite of military-grade electronics within the pressurized helmet, a secondary training regime is needed so that a Soldier can familiarize himself with the automated blink commands that filter through various visor modes and functions of the HUD.
While the body portion of the battle armor could be easily produced in large quantities at any given time, the complexities of the delicate circuitry built and programmed into the helmet caused issues during the initial phase of construction, meaning that man soldiers were bereft of their buckets for a short period. Thankfully there were no injuries reported amongst the troops during this acclimation period and resulted in the increased automation of the workforce in that sector of production. As that hurdle was overcome, and the suits were rolled out in one complete package, they were first employed by the Galactic Alliance Defence Force in a Skirmish with a local sect of pirates near the Federation's proverbial core. The training that they had gone through to familiarize themselves with the tech in the helmet, and the overall weight of the armor, had proven the effectiveness of the armor as the soldier bonded with his newly forged shield. Able to stave off blows from blaster bolts, light repeating blasters, slugthrowers, shatterguns, shrapnel, flechettes, and even turning aside glancing blows from lightsabers, the GADF-BDU-01 had seen a remarkable decrease in battlefield mortality rates as less and fewer soldiers were incapacitated or killed in the line of duty. This, also, saw an uncommon boon to morale and personal heroism, as more soldiers began to feel invincible while clad in their heavy armor. (Addendum: Though heroism is acceptable regarding battlefield discipline, it should be noted that the suit does not make a soldier godly and that recklessness on the battlefield will bring about their untimely demise.)
Though the suit was designed the larger Humanoid population of the Federation, the nationalized company of I'att Armament has seen fit to produce various alternative kits to provide those who do not fit such slender profiles. Meaning that the Inhuman population of the GADF receives not only the same protection as their Human counterparts but a comfortable environmental suite that is tailored to their species needs. This may alter the suit visually through various exterior mountings and draw more power from the backplate mounted power pack, but doesn't greatly interfere with the newly minted iconic design of the battle dress uniform. Thus, with the advent of a new era - the Twilight of the Sith - the Galactic Alliance finds itself in possession of a highly advanced suit of armor that offers several degrees of protection for the multiple races that comprise the army and special forces branches of the Defense Force.
