DESCRIPTION |
Like many of the Hapan Ships that serve in the Hapan Royal Navy there was little to nothing known about the elusive Hetrinar Assault Bomber beyond flying alongside Miy'til Starfighters and being deployed by Nova Battlecruisers for defensive purposes. It was only more recently when the alliance between the Galactic Alliance and the Hapes Consortium was forged that the design of the Hetrinar Assault Bomber and its capabilities became known outside of the Hapes Cluster. These Assault Bombers were designed to be a heavier counterpart to the smaller Miy'til Assault Bomber and were often only deployed to make a statement or to gain early control of an engagement and prevent it from becoming a slog. This is accomplished in thanks to its heavier design which prioritized armaments and defenses over speed and maneuverability, with the GADF variant being noted as difficult to maneuver in all but the most skilled pilot's hands. The GADF Hetrinar Assault Bomber is flanked on either side by large ordnance pods similar to those of the older Imperial TIE Bombers. However, due to their size and their location, these ordnance pods are known to limit the firing arcs of the vessels and prevent their SW-4 Ion Cannons from firing into either the Port or Starboard firing arcs. Though equipped with SW-4 Ion Cannons as an added defense, these weapons have an unfortunate design flaw which often sees the firing maxtrixes being shaken loose from the vibrations of normal flight and require additional repair time and maintenance to get the weapons operational again. Additionally, the sheer size of the Hetrinar also limits the numbers in which these craft are deployed, meaning that there are few of these bombers in a given squadron or among a fleet formation. With a heavier armament and a focus on defensive capabilities, the GADF Hetrinar was designed to withstand some of the thickest fighting and heaviest of blows as it slowly approaches its target. Though more than capable of handling these punishment, they are often only deployed upon unsuspecting individuals or when a clear avenue of attack has opened up that can be capitalized upon by an observant flight commander. It remains to be seen if the GADF Hetrinar will become a core element in the fleets of the Galactic Alliance Defense Force. |
