STRENGTHS
  • Heavy Armaments - The focus on the design of the GADF Quasar-class resulted in the addition of heavier armaments and the capacity for additional systems resulting in a higher armaments rating than its predecessors.
  • Interceptor - Further extensive retrofitting and redesign of the Hapan Nova Cruiser has led to the development of the GADF Quasar-class, with this variant being known to retain the nimble maneuverability of its predecessor though has been noted to have a higher speed at both sublight and light speeds compared to other Heavy Cruisers.
  • Pulse Mass Mines - A continued mainstay armament that has been equipped to the myriad of Hapan Capital Ships and their GADF Variants. This specialized space mine was originally developed by the Hapes Consortium and produces a similar effect to that of a Gravity Well Projector when deployed. The GADF Quasar was outfitted with multiple launch tubes to ensure that it was capable of deploying these weapons.
WEAKNESSES
  • Fuselage Connector - The design of the GADF Quasar-class retains similar design elements of the preceding Hapan Nova Cruiser such as the connector between the bridge and the inverted V-shaped main body at the rear of the vessel. Though this section is noticeably shorter than previous designs, it still remains a structural weak point in the overall design of the Capital Ship. Sufficient damage to this section has the potential of splitting the vessel in half or preventing the crew from traversing throughout the craft.
  • Sublight Drive Systems - Located along the center-point of the port and starboard wing-like structures that extend from the main section are the primary Drive Systems that propel the Capital Ship forward. The location and ease of access to the drive can result in damage, crippling the vessel.
  • Light Starfighter Capacity - The design of the GADF Quasar-class favors armaments, speed, and maneuverability at the cost of hangar capacity. The Capital Ship is thus only capable of fielding a singular starfighter squadron from its hangar bay.
DESCRIPTION
The continued relationship between the Galactic Alliance and the Hapes Consortium meant that it was only a matter of when, not if, the designs of the Hapan Capital Ships were retrofitted or redesigned in an attempt to overcome some of the drawbacks or produce a larger variant. Enter the GADF Quasar-class Heavy Cruiser, itself a variant of the Hapan Nova Cruiser that was further redesigned and retrofitted to ensure that it remained a capable interceptor and kept up with its predecessors. A surprisingly nimble and agile Capital Ship, it is capable of reaching higher sublight and light speeds when compared to other Heavy Cruisers. However, in order to achieve this, other aspects of the design were sacrificed as can be seen by its limited hangar capacity. Much like its predecessor, the GADF Nova Cruiser, the Quasar-class is only capable of fielding a singular starfighter squadron from its limited hangar bay.

Further, focus was placed on its armaments as can be seen by its increased weapon coverage and weapon systems over its predecessor designs. These weapon systems also include the capability of deploying a uniquely Hapan-designed weapon, the Pulse Mass Mine thanks to the inclusion of the proper launch tubes to deploy these weapons. The GADF Quasar retained many of the design elements and overall aesthetics of the Hapan Nova Cruiser as can be seen by the design which separates the bridge from the inverted V-shaped main body with a connecting neck-like structure. Though this area was noticeably shortened compared to the standard Nova Cruiser and its GADF variant, it still remains a structural weak point in the Quasar-class, with damage to this section having the potential of ripping the ship in half.

As more Hapan Capital Ships and their GADF Variants were deployed, the mentality behind the Quasar-class was to provide a heavier variant of the Nova Cruiser that was also capable of acting as a command vessel. The primary purpose of the GADF Quasar is to be deployed alongside GADF Nova Cruisers in wolfpacks and draw enemy fire away from the lighter defenses of the GADF Nova Cruiser, bearing the brunt of an attack whilst the smaller and more nimble Nova Cruisers strike at a target.
