DESCRIPTION |
Little was known of the Hapan Stella-class Frigate outside of the Hapes Consortium beyond it being a Frigate that entered service sometime around 44 ABY, and that it was produced by Olanji/Charubah. With closer relations between the Galactic Alliance and the Hapes Consortium beginning to pull the veil back on the Transitory Mists, more of these vessels are beginning to be seen in the greater galaxy which has led to the development and deployment of a Galactic Alliance variant of the Stella-class. The GADF variant excels in its focus on Starfighter Capacity, greatly surpassing its progenitor's capability of carrying only three squadrons as the GADF variant has utilized every space possible. This design focus on a smaller, carrier frigate has seen the GADF variant capable of carrying up to six total squadrons of smaller craft, with some capacity utilized to carry support craft. A similar design element of the GDAF Stella is the inclusion of the large, sail-like, retractable bridge armor which is more commonly seen on the Hapan Nova-class Battle Cruiser and its GADF variant - with this structure providing an additional defensive screen to the command bridge. Unfortunately, no Capital Vessel is perfect, and the same is true for the flaws that have arisen during the production of the GADF Stella. This can be seen in its limited aft-firing arc, with this limited coverage more often resulting in the Sublight Drive Systems being easily damaged. Additionally, due to its focus on carrying as many smaller craft as capable, the hangar bays of the craft are in locations that can be relatively easily accessed and, unfortunately, provide additional weak spots in the design of the vessel. A late-stage addition to the GADF variant is the inclusion of two Pulse Mass Generator Tubes, which allow the GADF Stella to deploy Pulse Mass Mines, specialized weapons that produce a similar effect to that of a Gravity Well Projector. As the Transitory Mists are slowly unveiled and the relationship between the Hapes Consortium and the Galactic Alliance becomes more solidified, it is only a matter of time until more Hapan designs and vessels are seen filling the ranks of the Galactic Alliance Defense Force. In this regard, the GADF Stella provides a means to deploy additional starfighter squadrons into a conflict, while also providing a slight boost in the overall firepower of a formation at the cost of speed and maneuverability. Its overall design and aesthetic will easily cause it to stand out amongst the other vessels fielded by the Galactic Alliance. |
