DESCRIPTION |
The Hapan Stinger was known to be an escort vessel that was produced on Hapes though was largely absent from the Greater Galaxy as it was likely only common within the deeper reaches of the Hapes Consortium. With the Galactic Alliance and Hapes Consortium opening dialogue and diplomatic channels to further increase their alliance and open the borders of the reclusive and often isolationist Consortium, more of these vessels are being seen and the Galactic Alliance has begun to field its own heavier variants. The GADF Stinger is a heavier Escort Frigate that was designed to focus on armaments and armor to provide an Anti-Capital Ship escort to larger fleet formations. However, due to its focus on these armaments and defensive capabilities, the GADF Stinger is only able to accommodate a single squadron of support craft. This lack of any notable hangar capacity often requires it to rely more frequently on dedicated carriers for starfighter and bomber support during engagements. A rarer piece of weaponry that each GADF Stinger is outfitted with is the Magnetic Railgun, an artillery piece that was originally developed by the Galactic Empire during the Galactic Civil War. Though no longer commonly utilized in the Galaxy, this weapon is known to fire a solid projective via electromagnetic force and can have devastating results if the weapon strikes true. Unfortunately, the capacitors that are utilized to power the weapon require a longer duration to properly cycle and recharge, resulting in a lower firing rate of the weapon. Likewise, the GADF is not known for its maneuverability and generally lacks in this field. Each GADF Stinger that is produced and fielded in the Galactic Alliance Navy further serves to strengthen the bond between the Alliance and the Hapes Consortium. The GADF Stinger is poised to provide an additional punch to any Alliance fleet and is more than capable of handling its designation as an Escort Frigate. |
