DESCRIPTION |
The Hapes Consortium is known for its warships, many that have been seen and many still yet to be seen by the Outside Galaxy, the Beta Cruiser falls into the former category. Serving alongside other Hapan Capital Ships during the Battle of Fondor, many of those vessels were destroyed by the firing of the Centerpoint Station, though their design lives on in a new line of successors. Enter the GADF War Drake, a smaller companion built to complement the might of the GADF Battle Dragon and GADF Nova Cruiser. The design of the GADF War Drake was focused on increasing its speed and maneuverability to provide a nimble fast attack craft that could also double as a scouting and reconnaissance vessel to assist larger formations via preventing ambushes or reporting on enemy movements and formations. Due to the size of the vessel, the GADF War Drake is otherwise incapable of supporting smaller craft, this can also be seen in its lack of a single craft hangar or external docking clamps or boarding tubes that other corvettes are known to carry. This, coupled with an armament that is geared more towards capital ships, often requires the GADF War Drake to be accompanied by a starfighter escort to provide assistance against enemy starfighters. Likewise, due to its designation as a Corvette, though equipped with anti-ship armaments, it is still ill-advised to pit the GADF War Drake in a toe-to-toe confrontation with a larger warship unless deployed in greater numbers. Internally the GADF War Drake is influenced by design aspects of the well-known CR90 Corvette, which can be seen in its ability to be easily reconfigured internally as required of its mission role - with the most common reconfiguration being that of a transport or diplomatic courier. As conflict is slowly on the rise once more in the Galaxy, the GADF War Drake is a fine addition to the overall roster of Starships already fielded by the Galactic Alliance Defense Force. Centered around providing a fast-attack craft to further assist its larger compatriots, its use as a reconnaissance craft will prove to be invaluable to the Galactic Alliance. The GADF War Drake carries with it a new heritage as more and more Hapan vessels are refitted and produced for their new allies in the Galactic Alliance. |
