  • Market Status: Closed Market
  • Modularity: No
  • Production: Mass Produced
  • Material: Durasteel, Ionite, Reinforced Duraplast
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
  • Classification: Airburst EMP
  • Size: Very Large
  • Weight: Very Heavy
  • Explosive Type: EMP Burst/Weather Effect
  • Delivery Method: Fired
  • Effective Range: Average
  • Area Of Effect: Large ~ About 10 square meters
  • Damage Output: Extreme
SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Thunder In Your Heart: Modified from the Roar Grenade, the Thundara acts much the same, first releasing a massive EMP pulse at a pre-determined altitude, designed to potentially disable tanks or similarly sized vehicles, all while releasing a massive amount of pre-charged water vapor above the target zone, forming a thunderhead above the enemy.
  • Anti-Counter EMP: The Thundara is shielded with a reinforced duraplast shell, preventing the enemy from disabling the shell before it unleashes it's playload.
STRENGTHS
  • Shock and Awe: The EMP burst, designed to potentially disable heavy vehicles, is designed around an ionite charge, exploding in a massive burst of magnetic energy over an enemy formation, designed to with the potential to disable anything from shields, to electronics, to entire vehicles.
  • Thunderstruck: On top of the massive magnetic charge, the round releases a thunderhead above the enemy, by dumping large amounts of aerosolized and pre-charged water vapor above the enemy, forming a cloud above the enemy, before releasing a torrent of lightning down on the foes.
WEAKNESSES
  • Weather It: While the Thundara is capable of creating a rather large cloud, much like any other storm, once the storm has exerted it's energy, the cloud is quick to dissipate. The usual length is only a few minutes, though this can be extended through multiple rounds fired in sequence.
  • Grounding: While ion blasts and electrical storms are potent weapons, they both suffer from the same weaknesses. Vehicles or armor designed to negate an ion blast, would also work well against any form of natural lightning, thus acting as a natural counter to this weapon.
DESCRIPTION
With the defeat at Teta in the GADF's rear view mirror, Si Tech took the lessons of that battle into account in designing a new round for the mortars of the defense force. Designed to disable vehicles and equipment alike, the shell dubbed "The Thundara", took the miniaturized thunderstorm of the Roar grenade, and doubled it up with a massive EMP charge that would hopefully give the men on the ground an edge against enemy tanks and armored infantry.

Having looked through this submission there are several issues I would like you to address.

1. Absolute Language

The factory does not allow for absolute language such as "exploding in a massive burst of magnetic energy over an enemy formation, designed to disable anything from shields, to electronics, to entire vehicles." Please go through the submission and replace all the absolute language with language using possibly, potentially etc.

It is important to remember that the defender calls hits and damage and the sub should make that clear through the language used.

2. Canon basis

While the use of an EMP against unhardened or shielded electronics is a well known effect I have been unable to find a canon basis for this thundercloud effect. Could you please provide me with the canon or real world basis for this technology?

3. Weakness

I do not view "heavy" as a true weakness for a submission, so please add a weakness which an opponent could use in PvP.

Now, as for the canon basis, we see several instances of weather manipulation in canon. While they're never put much focus on, and thus aren't very fleshed out, they do exist.

This sub specifically I would cite the Verpine Atmosphere Generator as an example of a canon basis. As the generator isn't very well explained, I feel this sub does an adequate job giving a star-warsy esque scientific explaniation on how it could possibly work, by pre-charging water vapor to create an artificial storm. This is another example, in which the point of the tech is exactly to do what I am attempting to achieve with this sub. Given it's been 900 years since then, I would assume miniaturizing the tech to the size of a single mortar round would be possible.

Apologies about hte delay getting back to this.

Your argument holds some ground and this is just a fancy form of a tesla weapon which exists in canon.

I would, honestly be happier if you had miniaturized the weather control system you linked, but I'm not gonna quibble about that. I do just have one question for you. How long does the cloud remain?
