STRENGTHS
  • Strong as Steel: The upgraded Vardium Steel plating allows for a much higher defensive rating than the Nemean it was based on. While this is not meant to replace the Nemean, it is vastly superior as a set of armor.
  • Ammo for Days: The Manticore, like it's older brother the Nemean, is designed with the heavy needs of GADF soldiers in mind.
  • Marathon: The Manticore was designed not for your average soldier, but for specialized troopers, men who would be getting into the thick of combat. Thus, the Manticore was designed to augment it's user, allowing them to lift more, run faster, and generally be a better soldier.
  • Rated for Space: The Manticore, much like the Nemean, was designed for both space combat, and boarding actions. Allowing the user to not only walk around in a vacuum, but maneuver freely with the help of repulsor boots and micro thrusters in their gloves.
  • Moral Boost: Those using the Manticore Armor are recognized as the elite of their squads, allowing for a clear distinction between ranks, and a sense of trust in those using it.
  • Living Tank: The Manticore's several heavy armor hardpoints allow the user to customize their loadout with equipment normally reserved for vehicles. Mounted to the exoskeleton, and operated partly by the user's neural connection to the suit, the men inside the Manticore Armor can double as armored support for units normally unable to support vehicles.
WEAKNESSES
  • Big and Tall: Simply put, in order to even operator the Manticore, the user must be of a certain height to simply fit the armor. As well, the Manticore is designed with heavy, extremely fit men and women. The massive exoskeleton and armor requires it, lest the user fall into extreme fatigue.
  • Massive Target: Needless to Say, the Manticore skits the line between vehicle and armor. As such, regardless of it's armor capability, it's biggest downside is that you're going to be shot at.
  • Armor Lock: The Manticore, unlike other suits of GADF armor, is more reliant on it's exoskeleton than any other piece of armor in the GADF arsenal. As such, any sort of failure within the system can cause the user to lose mobility within parts of the armor, or entirely.
  • Not a One Man Army: Unlike a vehicle, the Manticore is not designed with true autonomy. It's ability is limited to it's internal ammo capacity, which is limited purely due to space within the suit, and a reliance on fellow soldiers to reload weapon systems due to the bulk of the suit.
DESCRIPTION
Following the Battle of Tython, the GADF's Overhaul Program requested an alternative to light walkers within specialized units, such as airborne or heavy infantry units. The result was the Manticore II, a fusion of light walker tech, and infantry exoskeleton. While the user is still required to stand, the internal, neural linked exoskeleton does the majority of the lifting, and the external prosthetics allow the user to lift weapons normally requiring vehicle mounting to be operated.
