- Fully Automated: As expected from an N&Z ship, it comes decked out with its own AI in order to remove the majority of menial tasks from the hands of the pilots and gunners and usually can also take over the firing duties as well. Coupled with the ship's sensory array and connection to the datalink and hololink networks, the ship has automated distress call feautures which activate when the AI is forcefully rebooted or shut down without the proper procedure, thus indicating something being amiss.
- Well balanced: The Gala Fighter mk III prides itself on combining the plus sides of its forebearers and adding on to them, with proper armaments, adequate defense and very good maneuvrability and speed, this starfighter's a very usable and balanced example of what a starfighter should be.
- Compact: The Gala fighter is a short, light starship, allowing it to be stowed away efficiently in hangar bays, easily transported in greater numbers with enough room for mechanics to do their job without ever feeling cramped.
- Fully automated: As with the majority of N&Z ships, this ship has the automation both as a boon and a bane, for when the system works, it is an absolute godsent, but when it fails and the crew is shorthanded to handle the menial, but crucial tasks on the ship it could become a problem, especially when there is no experienced engineer or mechanic on board to keep an eye on the engines and reactor without the AI system keeping it all in check.
- Outboard engine vents: The engines exhaust vents and cooling vents are located at the rear and are only minimally shielded by plating, meaning that with the external shields down, these can be a prime target to cripple this ship.
As with the previous versions of the Gala Fighter series, the Mk III is meant to be a low cost, cheap mass produced vessel which can be deployed in large numbers and with relatively little cost to repairs and replacements after deployment. The design was solely based on the old Gala Fighter Mk II, with some small tweaks and changes to the internals. The most obvious change was the fact the Gala MkIII now utilizes a HAPU from the HPI consortium as its main power source rather than the old reliable FAR reactors from the N&Z. Also applying a much wider and much more inclusive electrical and cybernetical loadout thanks to the First AStral Engineering company, the Gala Mk III is still to be considered a very capable starfighter in its own right.
Where the MkI and MkII were cheap and disposable, this version may still be cheap, but it is no longer a completely disposable starfighter, as though it is lowcost and low maintainance, it can boast excellent speed and maneuvrability for its class and adequate defenses. It also has the added benefit that its relatively compact size allows for a much larger squadron count compared to other products of the company, thus further ensuring its use on the battlefield.
With its main structure being constructed out of the reliable Ersteel 145 with additional alloyplast moldings and a tetra-polycarbonite lamellar compound cockpit, the Gala Fighter MkIII does have the advantage of excellent thermal resistance and kinetic resistance, but does still have some drawbacks against EMP and ION weaponry.[/spoiler]
