It wasn't often the heads of the GA's industry met. Today was one of those rare days however. Si Tech, a relatively new face on the industry stage, had put out an invitation for a meeting of the minds, allowing the best and brightest of the Galactic Alliance to meet and brainstorm ideas. The location? A rented out conference hall that was normally used for company meetings, now converted to bean open floor for meet and greets. While the invitation had been vague about the host, it was sponsored by a jedi, one Jonyna Si , the face of Si tech.

Objective One: Brainstorming

With so many heads of industry meeting at once, Si Tech has made an open floor for the technical heads to share ideas and formulate the future of GA industry. Socialize, brainstorm, and allow the ideas to flow.

Objective Two: Meet and Greet

While not all of the heads of industry act as the brain behind their operation, the floor has been opened for those wishing to meet other like minded individuals allowing for industry heads to finally meet. The conference ballroom has been fancied up for a great meeting of the minds, and of egos.​

Objective One: Brainstorming​

Sitting in the back of what would be a VIP room of the conference hall, a teenage cathar looked over a blueprint. It seemed to be some sort of armored vehicle, though it seemed to have a twin barrel rather than the single barrel one would be accustomed to.

"Damnit Gress, why do you have to make my life hard?" She muttered as she looked over it once more, before groaning and pushing it aside for a fresh blueprint. "Alright, new ideas. Come on Rara, we've gotta impress the folks. What do we got, uhhh...maybe a new firespeeder? That Service Corp member could use some new gear..."

She seemed to be in her own head, unaware of anything going on around her. While she was supposed to act as the host, she always seemed to get tunnel-visioned like this when it came to projects...

This was not his cup of tea.

Conferences like this were meant for “R&D”, but they were working. Theriac was the “day to day” person for things, but she was busy as well in budget meetings, why now? He could not ask Vanagor to do this. The Jedi Master may be the “Majority Owner” but it was meant to be a “hands off/silent partner” thing, and a way to spend money he never really needed in the first place. This was going to have to be his gig, it would be good press, and a good way to ingratiate G.A.L. into the more galactic stage, not just a Concord.

It would be a couple of nice days off, so to speak, coming here, talking with “talking heads” and eating free food. Sure, there probably was going to be an open bar, but he was still on duty(not to mention new and didn’t want to make a ridiculous first impression). He would need some ideas to bring. His datapad was full of blueprints already in working order of items currently in circulation. However there were some others.

There were more, but they needed some work.

The back room that was apparently the “entrance” to where the concierge was sending him was home to a single Cathar, she looked to be young but intelligent. Her focus seemed to be on work, so he would not interrupt, Liram would just pull a laptop out and connect his datapad. As he worked, the Admiral simply spoke up so that he could be at least a little neighborly.

Why do I sound like I’m bragging?​

"Rara Gowisi. Si Tech," She said curtly, peeking over to the man's laptop. A VIP speeder...that could be worth her time. "I could help with the speeder. I'm working on...uhh...." She looked over the blank blueprint she had in front of her, and the armored walker under it. "...I was considering designing a new walker for the GADF. Something that would supplement the Thundercat and Sphinx. You're the soldier, what do you think?"

Objective Two: Meet and Greet

Making the trip out to Coruscant for the technological showcase seemed to Arla to be well worth the effort and then some. She'd had somewhat high expectations, and had found herself still quite impressed. While Boss Kalinka had set up a small Remnants medical showcase, as well as next door, several UGF stalls spruiked the ever burgeoning UGF Navy and Army, Arla toured the facility alone, taking it all in.

She intended to check in with the NSLR kiosk, while it was in good hands, she owed it to those putting in the effort to work the event to make an appearance and thank them for their hard work. The representatives from the UGF military she knew less familiarly, technically she was part of a different branch of government. In reality, military and intelligence tended to have a lot of crossover and overlap, often working in combined efforts. Today though, she was here representing the New Star League Remnants, as its Commander, her role as a UGF minister taking a back seat.

The technologies on show were impressive across the board, and Arla intended to check in that Qena Drive Yards were aware of some of the developments being made elsewhere. She was particularly interested in medical and defensive technology, but the arms and armaments were always of at least passing interest to a life long soldier.

A part of him wanted to correct her in that he was not a “soldier” but a “sailor”, he was technically an “aviator” or “pilot” but that was splitting hairs. If he did so, and was worried about sounding like a braggart, it would be worse after the grammatical correction. Besides, she was offering help on his design as well as asking his opinion. The design was well done, he was not a fan of “walkers’, but ”The Cerebrus” was a nice one. That made him wonder about the power allocation.

You say this is to supplement other walkers, I’m assuming the “Thundercat” and “Sphinx” are classes of walkers, but it didn’t matter. My question is are you looking to use them as “cover” for the other walkers? For example focusing on smaller vehicles that would be able to target the larger? Or maybe…

Pulling up designs for the Ethereal Marines, he brought up the Saraquael Fighting Vehicles as well as
A-2319 Tanks, "Haniel" Tank Mk II, "Gundark" Multi-Purpose Vehicle,, and Jackhammers.

The tanks are the “heavy guns” of these, but all work in conjunction with each other. Where a Saraquel will be supported by a Gundark, it can act as support to a Haniel. A Haniel can cover and take weapons fire so that a Gundark can slip around behind.

Looking back at her walker design, he went back to his question.

So, I have to ask what the purpose of the design is meant for. It looks to be efficient, make no mistake, I’m just curious.

Objective Two: Meet and Greet​

Vulpesen Torrevaso was a man of many titles. Valde. Arch Wilder. Master Jedi. Sith lord. All of them had been earned at some point in his life, and sued in varying degrees. The one he seemed most often to forget however, was the one he would be using tonight. CEO of the Vitae Security Forces. Of course, his company also moonlighted as a way of spreading his people's influence throughout the galaxy, but it was by no means an absolute front. Afterall, how else could money flow into Veradune if not through the innovation of their research into arming their soldiers and allies.

Glancing about the area, he snatched himself a glass of champagne while one hand lifted to fidget with the edge of his coat. Even his current attire attested to the thought put into his products. A unique piece, the Twilight Coat shimmered with the phrik dust which lay underneath a nocur oil adhesive. If nothing else, the formal wear which had served him many times on a battlefield, would serve as a nice conversation starter.

Her eyes were resting as the speeder descended to the landing bay where the summit was being held. She was on the clock for AIL and this time it wasn't for a consultation. Ever since she became chief consultant, Ysennia had to sit in numerous meetings with lead engineers who did nothing but complain about their stagnant progress or how incompetent their engineers were. The process to completion was never a problem, AIL always met deadlines. But ever since Ysennia came in to help streamline the company's development process, a lot of the lead engineers have been trying to outdo her while failing miserably at it. So far no one has fucked up bad enough to cost AIL any profit, but the banging of heads between leads and constant badgering that Ysennia received was infuriating.

As the air speeder touched down, Ysennia gave thanks to the droid that drove her and made her way to the summit. The place was less extravagant, fitting for the industrial sector. It made her smile a bit if she was being honest, maybe this whole summit wasn't going to be as uptight and proper. The fact that a droid showed up to escort her to the back entrance was only more charming.

In the conference room, Ysennia could overhear a lot of discussion. It was reinvigorating to be in a space where everyone was sharing ideas.

One conversation in particular involved military tech, something she was all too familiar with.

"From what I've seen and witnessed firsthand of the Alliance's armor capabilities, there needs to be more diversity in its arsenal. While walkers are versatile in serving different purposes, maybe some more low-orbit craft could complement our main armor contingents with air support." She then noticed the admiral's insignia on the older man and quickly saluted, "Oh sorry-- Major Ysennia Lee, Galactic Alliance Defense Force, representing Alliance Industrial Labs. We have a few military craft in development currently including low-orbit gunships and artillery."

"See, that's what I was thinking. But then that opens the question, Rocket artillery or traditional? I'm not sure traditional works with what doctrine we're using. Most of the time, we've got orbiting capital ships floating around willing to provide bombardment, yeah?"

Despite the girl being only 14, clearly she had access to some form of GADF insider. "Sorry, Si Tech. We're the new weapons developer on the block. I'm their technical head." She offered a handshake to Ysennia Lee "The company head should be in the ballroom if you're looking for her."

The Admiral sat looking through the information he had given while pondering what was just said. It took him a moment to realize that the woman was saluting him. Quickly he returned it, though a little more relaxed, after all, this was supposed to be an informal setting, that and the varnish hadn’t even worn off the stars yet. Don’t worry about it, Major. We’re all friends here. Read Admiral Liram Angellus, recently transferred from the SJDF. Logging into the overhead projector, He brought up his information to the screen on the wall.

Guardian Authority Ltd. was created by a Jedi who had a family trust fund that he never used, or needed. He is pretty much “hands off” unless it has to do with specific tech. There is a lot of civilian and philanthropic work being done, but the military related is smart tech, as well as designed for rapid deployment and response. We focus on being able to land a force into a region of a planet quickly to either take it, secure it, or both. SI Teach, in my opinion, has the market cornered on Walkers, so a lot of our future R&D has been shifted back to what we are working on. We’ve never really designed artillery, as we have several models of close air support, gunships and attack fighters.

Ysennia gave back a smile as the admiral responded to her casually. Here she knew that the chain of command was just a burden and that everyone was here for the same reason. She turned to the child who she didn't pay attention to until now. There was a bit of a shock on her face as she shook her hand. Was this legal? Wasn't this technically child labor? If it was anything she did seem willing to be here and was probably really intelligent if she could be a leading member of Si Tech. Ysennia couldn't help but feel impressed about the girl's demeanor.

"You seem pretty well informed with R&D, so I don't mind talking shop with you. While orbital strikes are devastating and effective, I've noticed that triangulating targets from orbit while targets are moving is a very redundant task because what if a target moves out of the field of fire, the target is intact and the gunners are stuck triangulating new coordinates. Also, orbital strikes have a larger area of effect so we risk friendly fire. Surface artillery can fire more precise strikes on targets with smaller ordinances that can take out specific targets. Artillery can be effective anti-armor units when coordinating with our forces, and I feel like they can break stalemates easily."

She turned to the admiral, "I've studied a bit of Guardian Authority's arsenal. I must say the cherub gunship is a pretty effective close-air support vessel, especially in infantry battles. Your company's profile on military aviation is astonishing. At AIL we're mostly working on military craft to act as a compliment to our main battlegroups which seem to revolve around heavy vehicles and infantry. Artillery is one aspect we're focusing on as well as lighter vehicles and close-air support."

"Doesn't answer my question though. Should we do traditional artillery or focus on mobile rocket pods? I've equipped our newest line of Thundercats with rocket pods, but those were originally designed as an anti-air defense more than anything." The teen explained, pulling out a design she had been working on. "I did have an idea for a rocket platform, both for further air defense, and long ranged strikes..."

"Was thinking about calling it the Lioness. But after some thought, I figured between Close Air Support and Orbital strikes, the GA probably didn't need it. You think it's worth a second look?"

The Admiral smiled at the Cathar. Liram was never known as a truly patient man, but he was trying to be here. That and she had a right to act the way she did. I was actually getting to your dilemma. I got my start as a starfighter pilot… . Glancing at Ysennia. Hence the focus on aviation. Getting back to the subject at hand, he brought up some flight logs.


The problem that I have come across with rocket based artillery is that it is easily defended, relatively speaking. My squadron could shoot cruise missiles down at a click and a half. So I would stick with shells. Or plasma. Looking over her design, he liked what he saw, and was getting images of Gundarks in his head with something similar. I would use these as anti-air, or maybe multi-purpose, like our Gundarks. Take a look annd give thought to interchangeable weaponry.

"Right... Well, I don't see how we can't incorporate both rockets and gun artillery on the field. As the admiral said, you could theoretically incorporate a multi-purpose launch system, especially with the support of traditional gun artillery. If the lioness for instance had to switch to its anti-air capabilities with enemy air-craft overhead, another artillery company further from the front could bombard the area in its place. With enough tuning, I believe the lioness could be an effective frontline vehicle. Maybe add an anti-infantry weapon for "

It was pretty clear that the GA's military doctrine revolved around being on the offensive considering that it stood uncontested in the galaxy so far. Plus Si Tech was a leader in producing military tech for the GA, so there was an opportunity for AIL to break out into the market much more easily with their cooperation. "This might seem like an odd question for you both but does Si Tech and Guardian collaborate with other contractors with certain projects?"

"...I could do both." The teen pondered, before pulling up another design. "This was another project I was working on. It's practically done, but all our staff is out for Life Day, so I haven't put it into production yet. The Lynx was gonna be my answer to the GA's lack of heavy ground transport, since the Mandos are gonna be using hit and run tactics anyways. Airspeeders aren't gonna cut it, and we aren't gonna wanna waste resources putting tanks in all our convoys. I could repurpose the chassis as an artillery platform..." We actually have two transports, other than the Cherub transports themselves, the Saraquel and the Mauler Mobile Command Center both double as troop containers. So, yeah… they’re tough and fast and serve our purpose of “rapid deployment”. Then when asked about collaboration regarding other companies, Liram did not really want to answer that, he knew it was fine to, but he did not want to involve Gir Quee in a situation that he might not want to be a part of. That was the difference between these companies, and actually an aspect of this conference that he liked. Liram did not care much for the day to day and such, but seeing the mission of other companies, this was a good direction to take the company in.

When starting out, we did have a partnership to an extent with Lucerne Labs and to some level we still do, but they helped with a lot of technology until we were able to start designing and building our own. .

"It'd be fair to show you what we're currently drafting and what we have to offer." Ysennia pulled out her holopad and showed one of AIL's projects.

"The design team doesn't have a name for it yet. The blueprint is just "Camo tank." We're currently designing a camouflage matrix that will allow the tank to blend in with its surroundings. If you notice the panels on either side, that's the matrix. We were thinking of making it a light tank to maneuver around the enemy's main force to cut off reinforcements, flank heavier armor, or ambush convoys. The camouflage matrix will only work if the vehicle remains stationary. We're a little behind schedule, our engineers are still working out the kinks on the matrix itself. We haven't gone around to designing the actual beam cannon. We were wondering if you wanted to put your name on the finished product by helping out the weapons system."

Ysennia then pressed a button to switch to the next project.

"We're callin' this one the Onyxwing. Our most ambitious project yet. Close air support gunship with Gatling laser cannons on the side and a concussive missile launcher in the front. We can also use her as a transport for cargo and troops. We were thinking of putting a self-repairing module on board although we're unsure if it'll be practical. The craft is powered by a fusion reactor you see on the top of the craft which we have in development to power our other larger military craft. The actual lasers and missiles themselves however are taking a backseat in our development. If you noticed a lot of our resources are being poured into experimental technology like camouflage and power sources, but weapons aren't our main focus. I was wondering if Guardian or Si Tech had any weapons tech we can utilize in our craft and AIL can provide you with our tech."

Rara looked over the designs, frowning slightly. "Si Tech has a beam cannon I designed a while back. The Horn wasn't exactly designed for ambushes though..."

She looked over the Onyxwing, her frown growing. "I've got a missile pod in the works right now, but it was designed for starships and tanks. Rotary cannon....rotary cannon...I could cook something up in that regard. I've already got a Blaster Cannon if you can deal with it not spinning..."

I like the camouflage matrix, but the problem with that is you run into civil liberties issues. Not to say that we would do anything like that, but unless they are used in a specific manner they can lend to a populace belief that we are watching them, and not in a good way, You know?

Looking at the information otherwise, he liked the transport/gunship design, it reminded him of the Cherub. Then the mention of weapons, especially a rotary cannon, it was his turn to press a few buttons.

The ROF Rotary Cannon is one of our mainstays. This thing is mean, with high level damage in our Sovereignty Heavy Assault Fighter but also seriously effectively in defensive terms like in our FALANKS-Spcwz Anti-Ordinance Generator (Capital Grade) and FALANKS-Spcwz Anti-Ordinance Generator (Mobile Grade).
