Galactic Republic Weekly News

In many ways it's been a quiet week. We still have two Dominions running and so if you get a spare fifteen minutes, head over to one or the other and create a post. Just the one - it'll make all the difference.

The second thing to note is that a random conversation got us thinking about Padawan skills - or more importantly what the typical Padawan might start with. So expect to see something about that in the next week.

So, a much shorter news than normal, but no less reason for you to stay classy Galactic Republic...

Woooo!!! Let's finish those dominions (I owe a post or two!).

As far as the Jedi Academy Network is concerned, I think it is a good idea to keep promotions in house. If your a member of the Jedi Order it is the Jedi Order's responsibility to see to promotions and nominations.

I think Jedi are transcendent. If a Jedi is training a Jedi, they have that ability to promote who they think worthy. All Jedi are responsible for their own actions.

Let's not reduce ourselves to segmentation -- it's a Network for a reason. A promotion never harmed anyone.
Additionally, if a teacher is considering promoting a student they have the ability to forewarn that student and get their thoughts on it. If a teacher from the network is spending their time and energies on a person, they have the right to hold that conversation.

All due respect, but I disagree. The Jedi Academy Network is an amalgamation of various Jedi Orders. We don't all agree about things nor are governed by the same philosophies hierarchical structures. Perhaps we share similarities, but we also have differences.

As such, I would never presume to promote a Silver Jedi Padawan to Knight, because I am not a member of the Silver Jedi. For this reason, I don't think we should be told when members of The Jedi Order are to be promoted to Knighthood or when Knights should be promoted to Masters. It isn't a decision for the JA, it is a decision for the Order you are a member of.

I have no problem with someone not connected to The Jedi Order saying they believe one of our Jedi is ready for promotion, but that decision should be up to the Masters of our Order, not the masters of other Orders.

Oh, honey, just wait until the Sith Crusades are finished. Something tells that the lack of abductions will be made up for in full...
Agreed.

Anyways, seeing as how I am new, does anybody from the Jedi order feel like training with me? I mean, if I am going to be fighting sith, then I need to learn more about fighting against lightsaber combat and the force. So if anybody is up to it that would be great.

Aren't you, you know, going on Spring Break soon? (You should totally come to WA for a few days :D)
On a different note, I'm slightly less busy than I thought I would be. The fam is giving me more slack on socializing with our guest than I thought they would (that's a good thing).

I'd be up for a thread. 'Bout time the two of us had one and finished it, lol.

I don't remember the two of us ever finishing a thread. But if you wanna talk more, send me a PM or leave me a comment on my profile. This probably ain't the place to discuss this sorta thing.
