- Description: From the outside, the cavern looks fairly standard beyond a gated entrance. Inside the cavern, the tunnels have been reinforced and fortified. Tunnels are used for transportation and for running any lines for power, plumbing, and lighting. Off the tunnel system there are larger chambers where harvesting of rainbow gems occur.
Landing Pad : Situated away from the rainbow gem mine, a large landing pad is situated within the compound to make shipping of the gemstones easier and safer. The landing pad was put in place after the purchase by Aina Holdings and was not part of the original agreement from the previous owner.
Entrance : Sealed, security monitored entrance greets all those trying to enter the cavern system. Keycards, facial recognition, or pre-approved guest status is required to enter. Not only does it protect the cavern system, but also the miners and other workers who can be found on site.
Cavern System : Internally divided by the ‘new’ and ‘old’ collection sites. With tunnels fortified by Aina Holdings, the cavern system has expanded under new leadership. With many of the old veins of rainbow gems completely harvested, new tunnels and branches of the mine have been added in order to continue production in the years to come.
SECURITY
Low. Hapes itself is a relatively safe and isolated. The mine has sensor and ‘trip wire’ like silent alarms in place that would alert a central security database of any trespassers. There are a few guards at the main mine entrance at all times to provide an extra set of eyes and ears. Beyond that, it would be easy to overpower the guards and destroy the security system and enter. The mine relies heavily on Hapes’ isolated nature and low crime rate.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
Historically, the mine was in the possession of one family for generations, passed down from mother to daughter for nearly one hundred and twenty years. In the possession of an elderly woman who viewed it as a pet project for her husband. With the husband passed on, the children viewing the mine beneath them, the elderly Hapan woman had to make a choice.
A name drop of his wife and a massive business loan later, Makai came in possession of the rainbow gem mine. Not touched in over thirty-five years, the mine entrance and tunnels had to be carefully rebuilt and brought up to modern standards.
While it does not produce the most product in comparison to his non-Rainbow gem mine, due to the rare nature it is more than enough to make the mine profitable. Geological surveys indicate at the current rate of production, this rainbow gem mine can easily be in production for another seventy to eighty years.
