- Strong as Steel: The upgraded Vardium Steel plating allows for a much higher defensive rating than the Nemean it was based on. While this is not meant to replace the Nemean, it is vastly superior as a set of armor.
- Ammo for Days: The Manticore, like it's older brother the Nemean, is designed with the heavy needs of GADF soldiers in mind.
- Marathon: The Manticore was designed not for your average soldier, but for shock troops and marines, men who would be getting into the thick of combat. Thus, the Manticore was designed to augment it's user, allowing them to lift more, run faster, and generally be a better soldier.
- Rated for Space: The Manticore, much like the Nemean, was designed for both space combat, and boarding actions. Allowing the user to not only walk around in a vacuum, but maneuver freely with the help of repulsor boots and micro thrusters in their gloves.
- Moral Boost: Those using the Manticore Armor are recognized as the elite of their squads, allowing for a clear distinction between ranks, and a sense of trust in those using it.
- Not For Grunts: The Manticore was designed as a middle ground between the Nemean, and the existing Marauder power suit. Thus, it's design was built with top of the line ground troops. If your average soldier were to put this on, they would quickly find themselves out of breath and unable to move.
- Oh God, the Acid: While the Manticore is designed to protect against most things, acid is not one of them.
- Disruptor Destructor: As with most armor, the Manticore isn't designed to deal with Disruptor blasts.
- Lightning Rod: The Manticore isn't exactly designed to take on high voltage attacks.
After the War Games on Christophis, the GADF commissioned a new set of mid range armor for assault forces, hoping to find a way to give their higher end troops the chance to have better protection, and allowing them the freedom to be seen as elite soldiers. Designed with the heavy plates and exoskeleton as the base, the GADF's new Manticore armor has all the utility of the Nemean armor that came before it, but with the added protection to keep it viable as a new standard for shock trooper armor.
