  Gar Shale is a Mando'a warrior from the Rishi Enclave. Being a second son, he was given more freedom by his parents to pursue his interests. While his eldest brother, Duran, was groomed to be the next in line, Algernon was allowed to focus on the art of warfare, fighting, whaling, and fleeting. However, it becomes apparent quickly that Gar was not a very sharp kid, and excelled more on the physical and intrapersonal fields instead of tactical. He spent his early 20s winning tournaments, organizing whaling trips, and womanizing. It was also at this time he developed his drinking habits.
  
  That was before he marry Amena Kader , when he was 29. While it was a political marriage between two family at first, the two developed into a functional couple soon after, the belligerent, content, and mighty husband and the cunning, ambitious, and brilliant wife, the tower and the sharpshooter. Gar and Ailyn have a child, Venko Shale. Gar is a complex father figure, on one hand stern and tough on his children, yet on the other hand enabling their destructive behaviors as long as it doesn't tarnish the family reputation.
