PHYSICAL INFORMATION

Breathes: Type I
Average height of adults: Males (1.85 meters), Females (1.65 meters)
Average length of adults: N/A
Skin color: Ghostly Pale

Distinctions:

They possess sharp, strong, dagger-like top canine teeth that can easily penetrate the flesh of their prey, subsequently draining the blood from their victims; added pressure and they can crush their windpipe, killing them via suffocation. Unlike other known vampire species such as the sanguinius-vampirika, the tera vampir, the energy vampire the garhoon can retract their canine teeth into their top gum lines; masking them from prying eyes.

While the males and females have different eye colours, it's during the process of the kill that they share a common trait; the eyes turn a milky white not only during the kill, but during the eating process as well.

They do not possess a true skeleton structure, instead have a network of hardened cartilage throughout the entire inner physical make-up. Though dense in nature, it's still slightly weaker than bone.

Races: N / A

Strengths:

Heightened Senses: The garhoon have increased hearing, sight, and smell, They possess nightvision, though it works through a technique known as echolocation.

Intelligence: The garhoon are extremely intelligent.

Healing: The garhoon have the uncanny ability to heal quickly, if given time to do so. However, despite their rapid healing process, extreme wounds or loss of blood can kill them as easily as any species.

Addictive Bite: They have the ability to turn prey into mindless husks, or slaves. An enzyme possessed by them can be transmitted into the bloodstream of victims. (**Note: Not for pvp purposes unless agreed upon**)

Weaknesses:

Ultra-Violet Ray Sickness: Natural light, such as the sun, extremely affects the species. In a short span of exposure, they become weak and sick. Prolonged exposure will kill them.

Fast Metabolism: The garhoon need to feed often due to their metabolism. Long term affects from improper feeding can lead to instant death, or in lighter cases weakened senses and failed healing.

Creation: The garhoon create others of their kind through a vicious and brutal ritual; where they practically consume several pounds of flesh and organs such as the heart and liver, whilst dispensing another type of enzyme from their bodies into the one they are seeking to change. However, those that undergo the transformation actually die; but when they are reborn their flesh heals, but the organs remain absent. Due to this ritual, the species has suffered greatly in terms of population, mainly so because the ritual's success rate is so low.

Actaeque Furore Mentis: When a garoon goes a period of time without feeding, their mind becomes frenzied, thus turning to a rampaging monster with no conscience. When this disease of the mind takes place, and no cure for it; the garoon dies within a two days.

CULTURE

Diet: Hematophagy, Raw Flesh (Blood Soaked)
Communication: Speech
Technology level: Galaxy Standard
Religion/Beliefs: N / A
General behavior:

The Garhoon are typically a anti-social species, interacting with other species, or their own, on a need-to-need basis. This doesn't mean they won't be seen working with others, they just choose their privacy due to their nature, such as feeding habits. It's rare to see a Garhoon away from their home planet. Garhoons are known to lead lives as scientists, doctors, inventors, and occasionally explorers (those that opt to leave their homeworld).

Most Garhoon, if not all, have no family life. Their "children" are usually created, rather than born in the traditional sense; lending to a lack of love and nurturing. The species can procreate and give natural birth, but it's rare to find a natural born Garhoon. However, "created" children are strictly taught by their "parents" on how to behave and act, the species cherishing education and knowledge. Because procreation is so uncommon, most do not seek mates, opting to have life partners, so the concept of love is not embraced properly, but has been replaced with a strong connection for one another. The species is not compatible with other species, so interbreeding never occurs; but they are known to take mates from other species.

By trait, Garhoons are a nocturnal species, only because of their weakness to natural ultra-violet rays; but will go out in the daylight if proper measures are taken, i.e. protective suits.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION

Around 3,987 BBY, the first explorers visiting the planet of Nam Chorios discovered the isolated species. The first encounter was met with violence. The planet hadv ery little in the ways of non-animal species, and the explorers brought to the view of the Garhoon a new food source. The explorers that survived, and fled, told stories of vampyre monsters on the planet. For a hundred years, the planet remained unmolested by the galaxy. Around 3,885 BBY, the first true settlers from the galaxy arrived, creating cities and settlements. The newcomers and the Garhoon avoided one another.

In 3,687 BBY, the Garhoon and the people of Nam Chorios began trading with one another. During this period, which the Garhoon referred to as The Golden Age, they began learn about technology. On promise they would refrain from "eating" the citizens, the species was allowed to attend universities; some taking jobs within the community.

From that time forward, the species lived but never truly flourished numerically because of their creation process and their failed need to procreate. Due to the location of the planet, it had been untouched by the events that shaped the galaxy, such as the Gulag Plague, the Hundred Year Darkness, and the Vong invasions.
