Name: Garithius Varosh Drook III Esq. To the most unrefined and base mind: Varosh the Hutt.
Loyalties: A Hutt of most discriminating tastes, he has for the moment sought employ with Firemane, though his true loyalties lie with the collective culture and wellbeing of the galaxy.
Role: Varosh is a most excellent mind when it comes to the application and design of technological items. He provides most reasonable consultation on such matters. Varosh is also a most noted expert in the fields of gastronomy, oenology and aesthetics. Varosh has an informal role as chief fashion advisor for Firemane too, to the great surprise of the two owners.
Development Threads: Varosh has not had the opportunity to engage in threads of a developmental nature, but should they be required they will be procured.
Age: 118.
Species: A most elegant and sophisticated Hutt.
Force Sensitivity: Varosh does not have skills with the Force.
Appearance: Of all the Hutts in the galaxy, Varosh is quite confident that he is the most elegant, well-dressed and refined of them all. In appearance Varosh has a typical honey-gold underbelly of his kind, tapering to a viridian green above. His eyes are small and are well proportioned with vermillion coloured irises. Varosh ensures his skin is kept smooth, unmarked and free of oil, as befits a being of good taste.
In clothing, Varosh differs from his less sophisticated kin in that he tends to wear not just attire, but well-tailored garments. Usually this involves an Prior Kardan shirt, Zamari jacket, Kalvos Cleen hat and gloves.
Personality: Varosh speaks in a calm, reasonable voice, as one would expect of a being of rationality and class. Unfortunately, this calm and wise tone can strike the less subtle as arrogant, rude and patronising. This is not the intention. If Varosh knows the answer to a problem or question he will not hesitate to share it, even if prudence might dictate a more moderate course.
Though he tends not to become enraged, the wanton and most grievous sins of his kin can weaken his patience. This in particular relates to their most repugnant attitudes towards chattel slavery, criminal enterprises and immoral actions. Varosh is always keen to overcome old and most antiquated notions about Hutts, though sadly the other Hutts are not so cooprerative!
Weapon of Choice: Varosh always carries on him a heavy blaster pistol concealed in his superbly tailored jacket. This weapon can be cunningly switched between standard blaster and ion bolts.
Wealth: Through his work as a fashion designer, style expert, celebrity chef and technical specialist, Varosh has amassed a considerable fortune. Much of this is invested in artwork, clothing and property.
Combat Function: Much to the surprise of those who feel that Hutts have no skills themselves, Varosh is not afraid to engage in combat. Varosh carries a heavy blaster pistol on his person and is prepared to use it in defence. He also has some limited skills with staff weapons such as force pikes, though generally regards melee weapons as uncivilised. Varosh however prefers not to fight and will usually make a wise tactical withdrawal where possible.

Garithius Varosh Drook III Esq., or more vulgarly, Varosh the Hutt, was born on Nar Shaddaa during the 400 Years Darkness. As a young Huttling he was brought up by the Drook clan to run many of the family’s business interests. At an early age though the Hutt displayed a talent for being independent minded and contrary to the usual norms and whims of Hutt culture. This manifested itself initially in creating technology from broken components, but soon moved into an appreciation for art and colour. When Varosh designed something – and he was most talented at this – he spent as much time with the colour and aesthetics as he did about function. For the more traditional Hutts, who preferred the usual patina of rust, grime and decay, the sight of an orange and blue war droid was most disconcerting. However, Varosh’s self-evident skill was enough to quell even the most critical of observers.
Later, at the dawn of the present galactic age Varosh was introduced to the concepts of fashion, morals and ideology emanating from the galactic core. Varosh saw that these ideas were most suited for himself and started to dress his employees and slaves in practical and fashionable outfits whilst wearing specially tailored clothing. This at last was too much for his clan and he was most unjustly exiled by the conservative and backward looking clan.
Alone in the galaxy, Varosh did not despair, but set to work using his enormous intellect productively. He found employment in the Republic which had at least one Hutt of culture and talent: [member="Popo"], then Chancellor. It is unclear whether the two met, but Varosh was clearly inspired by this most noble Hutt and began his own career.
Finding employment as a technical specialist, Varosh soon brought his talents to work. With the proceeds of his work he was finally able to realise his dreams to enjoy fashion, food and art.
Recently, the story of Varosh’s notable achievements came to the ears of Firemane Directors Siobhan Kerrigan and Tegaea Alcori. Though understandably reluctant to enlist a Hutt, on meeting Varosh they were convinced of his uniquely refined style and taste. It turned out that Varosh had been shopping for attire in the same establishment as Siobhan Kerrigan had! With Siobhan being as equally committed to the ideals of form, factor and taste as he, the two found much common ground. Being a Hutt who neither participated nor condoned the heinous crimes of some of his kin, but having some of their exceptional talent for engineering, he was contracted and retained by Firemane to work on their projects.
Varosh is a highly skilled and talented engineers, and a most refined and brilliant culturist. He is of course not a person who engages in the cut and thrust of combat, but prefers to let his devices do the combatting.
Intent: This NPC was created after seeing the picture above and the thought between myself and [member="Siobhan Kerrigan"] that Hutts get a raw deal in canon. They are almost always portrayed as lecherous, scheming, ruthless criminals, so why not have one who is a very cultured and skilful Hutt to balance them out? This writer was also inspired just a little by Doctor Oggurobb from The Old Republic. This character also provides someone to pontificate in development threads, and to offer fashion advice to Siobhan and Tegaea. And clearly, having a Hutt give fashion advice is what the galaxy needs!
