Few if any are aware of Gat's upbringing. What is known of him is that he was born in the sprawling ecumenopolis of Skako. At least, he had to be, there aren't really Skakoans anywhere else. Even so he began education as an engineer before being taken on by the Techno Union as a R&D taskmaster and later sponsored to head his own subsidiary, the Technoid Manufactorum. A position he naturally excelled at to the point where he was elected by the board of the Techno Union as its Foreman in 858ABY. It was then that Gat Tambor began to emerge into the Galactic stage. His aims and ambitions have always been seen as nebulous but what is known is that regardless of whose pockets he lines or who employs his technology and products, he is forwarding his interests. It wasn't too long after his emergence that he was scouted by the newly resurgent IGBC who appointed him as a Chairman and via his influence, was able to help institute the IGBC credit in both the CIS and the Galactic Alliance. However, he later had a falling out with the leadership of the IGBC whom Gat had the impression were using him as a pawn for their own schemes and thus, he splintered and reconstructed the once vast and powerful Trade Federation.
The newly resurgent Trade Federation began its operations on the Braxant Run, serving the consumer base of both the newly formed New Imperial Order and the Galactic Alliance, the latter of which elected him to the Senator seat of Skako. A position which he used purely to expand the influence and economic ties of the Trade Federation into the organs of power in the Galactic Alliance. Concurrently, himself and Darth Avernus, a man which he considered a close friend and pupil, established the Imperial Board of Economic Directors which would lay out the planned, corporatist economy of the New Imperial Order as it waged war with the Sith Empire. In this, he was able to tie the then Empire to Trade Federation dependency, constructing a vast majority of its warfighting material whilst issuing its currency, the newly minted Trade Federation Credit. His ties with the Empire were profitable, constructing a vast network of infrastructure in the Braxant Run, however it proved short sighted and for once in Gat Tambor's life, his investment failed to return.
Upon the collapse of the Empire, the Trade Federation's influence depleted after decades of war profiteering from the Third Imperial Civil War and the subsequent Second Great Hyperspace War. In that time, Tambor resigned his seat as Viceroy of the Trade Federation, honing in on personal projects via the Techno Union and its subsidiaries. For all the blood on his hands in arming almost every side of Galaxy spanning conflicts, he lived in grateful solitude. However, there came an opportunity to re-emerge and realize the potential of his creation once more. With the backing of the Trade Federation's chairmen, he orchestrated a return to power, removing fellow Skakoan
