DESCRIPTION
At its core, the Gatecrasher is a section of laser gate emitter turned sideways to emit its beam parallel to the ground. It looks like, and is, spare parts mated to a heatsinked power cell bracket. It's apex outlaw tech jury-rigging, and it works like a charm - if what you want is a flat-plane equivalent of a disruptor.
It's immensely useful for cutting a hallway full of enemies in half at the waist. Three to five careful shots from the right range will carve a door through most walls. It's also good at degrading cover, though its low fire rate often lets the enemy find new cover between blasts. It's certainly not versatile enough to be a go-to primary weapon, but if you happen to get stuck somewhere that has a lot of laser gates, making a Gatecrasher might be an option. That's assuming you know the knack of it.
- Intent: An improvised ranged weapon.
- Canon Link: N/A
- Permissions: N/A
- Primary Source: Laser gate/electron wall. "The barriers were strong enough to easily block a lightsaber strike and would vaporize any matter that touched them. However, the generators were unable to keep up the immense energy needed to power the gates, and so they would cycle on and off approximately every five minutes. Each gate remained open for only around ten seconds before cycling on again."

SPECIAL FEATURES
- Fires a sustained horizontal cutting plane across a 15-degree arc (plus or minus five degrees with significant tinkering).
STRENGTHS
- Disintegrates a flat plane through virtually anything, comparable to a good-quality disruptor that isn't set to disintegrate the entire target. Absolutely excellent at, say, cutting a lot of armored battle droids in half.
- Wide, flat-plane cutting blast is impossible to block with a lightsaber unless at extremely close range.
- Negligible recoil.
WEAKNESSES
- Indiscriminate and imprecise damage guaranteed; fire arc cannot be adjusted without significant tinkering.
- Short range.
- Low rate of fire.
- Loud and visible.
- Depletes power cells quickly.
- Requires two hands unless you're a Wookiee or comparably strong.
DESCRIPTION
"It was all I could think about: ripping half a laser gate emitter off the wall and cutting those droids in half. And not just the droids, but every corrupt maniacal schutta who put me there. Sanorge, Benson, Cerensp. Suffice it to say I had unresolved feelings. So I made the dang thing and it turned out to be a top-notch salvage-and-breach cutter. That helped a bit." - Jerec Asyr, about his imprisonment in the Iniquitous Sanitorium
