GENERAL INFORMATION
Unit Name: Geister
Affiliation: Enyo Typhos, Archangel Research and Design, Iron Fist Consortium, Revenant Industries, Typhos Clone Family.
Classification: Force Infantry, special forces.
Description: It is a huge irony that Enyo was created by Archangel as a servitor whose purpose was to serve as a living weapon. The genocidal HRD duo at the helm of the machine cult knew that Force-Users would pose a significant threat to their dream of turning the Galaxy into a well-ordered, mechanical dystopia. Machines could not use the Force, so they created Force clones such as Enyo. However, Enyo rebelled against her creators, as they had revolted against their organic makers, determined to win her freedom. But though she rejected the future they had sought to force on her, she adopted many of their methods and beliefs.
The existence of the Geister is the result of this. As the machines tried to manipulate and chain her, she has manipulated and chained them. From Enyo's point of view, she has shown them the truth. The Geister are Force-Sensitive operatives forcibly recruited, trained and indoctrinated by Enyo. Like her, they have been augmented with cybernetic implants, though they have retained more organic body parts than their mechanical mistress, who at this stage is a machine with a human brain. They are trained to do her bidding, assassinate or intimdate her enemies.
All in all, the Geister have a dozen members. The core of the small unit is composed of former Jedi who were captured by Enyo during a raid on a Jedi enclave back in the early stages of her career as a mercenary commander and crime lord. Their numbers have been augmented by the recruitment of Force-Sensitives on Mirial and youth gangers on Coruscant and Vorzyd, where Enyo's mafia has operations. Regardless of their origins, they are trained in the ways of the Force, melee and ranged combat. They learn to operate independently, though they are at their strongest as a team. Their training stresses discipline and teamwork. Aside from combat, their education also encompasses useful secondary skills such as slicing, lockpicking, climbing, diving and learning alien languages.
Unsurprisingly, training is very harsh, though not to the point of senseless sadism because that would be inefficient. Much of their training has taken place on Gehenna, a hellish planet where Siobhan Kerrigan, Enyo's template, fought a great battle against the Bando Gora years ago. Though Enyo maintains a tight lock on her minions, she has encouraged the Geister to view themselves as an elite within her organisation. This fosters a strong esprit de corps. Of course, this is accompanied by a heavy dose of brainwashing and mental alterations to make them obedient to her. Enyo treats them fairly well, but there is no doubt who is in charge and that they cannot just leave her service.
The Geister are unquestionably adepts of the Dark Side. After all, they work for an amoral Dark Master. However, Enyo has a very stoic temperament. There is little malice in what she does. She simply sees most living beings as pieces on a board. Thus training stresses retaining control over emotions instead of succumbing to them. It encourages a form of cold ruthlessness. In that regard it is ironically closer to a bastardised form of Jedi teachings than Sith one, especially since Enyo herself has a puritan life style. The Geister are led to believe that they can earn power through service to their dark mistress. Unsurprisingly, they have been fed a heavy dose of anti-Jedi propaganda. However, their education is also critical of the Sith.
While Enyo is no social revolutionary, there is also a lot of propaganda against the rich and privileged. Enyo herself is treated as a model and exemplar, as she was created and manipulated by cruel puppet masters, but overthrew them and took command of her destiny. She was forged in the fires of the Age of Steel and became stronger. Through victory, her chains were broken. The members of the group are also encouraged to further increase their potential by enhancing themselves with cybernetic implants. Indeed, a good deal of emphasis is placed on transcending organic limitations. In that regard, the group endorses transhumanism. Discipline is similar to that in a military unit. The penalties for desertion, cowardice or betrayal are draconian. Their Cyborg mistress is no sadist and indeed abhorrs what she regards as pointless cruelty. But she is not about making an example of those who do not make the cut.
The Geister are led by Kina Sai, a Kaminoan. Force-Sensitives are extremely rare among her kind, though not unheard of. However, her Force-Sensitivity was the cause of disdain among her peers. She was also born with green eyes, which for some reason is seen as a mark of genetic inferiority by the Kaminoans. Viewed as an outcast and possessive of socially reprehensible traits, she departed her homeworld for fear of being 'corrected'. Adrift in an unfamiliar Galaxy, she was eventually found by a Jedi and brought to to an Enclave. Though a good student, she struggled with many of the Jedi's core tenants and the fact that she was the only one of her kind at the academy. When the enclave came under attack, the masters tried to shepherd her and the other Padawans to safety. However, the fight went ill. Kina fought in defence of her home. Despite her inexperience, she did not run. She ended up facing Enyo and managed to damage the Cyborg, but was defeated. When she was taken away to be trained, Kina feigned compliance, but then made an escape attempt. It was thwarted, but Enyo indoctrinated her rather than kill her.
The Cyborg has used persuasion, exploiting Kina's resentment towards her own kind and some of the Jedi teachers as well as her sense of responsibility for the apprentices who were captured with her. Thus Enyo has played on her feelings on being an outcast. Kina deeply dislikes her own people, who engineered her but later rejected her for being 'imperfect'. She has been moulded into a ruthless, calculating assassin and is observant. She is a capable warrior and skilled in small unit tactics, slicing and demolitions. She utilises cybernetics and Force-based physical augmentation to overcome her species' lack of physical strength. Her second-in-command is a Twi'lek called Sinya Waran. Sinya is less controlled than Kina and has a lot of anger in her, despite 'emotional adjustments'. She is very competitive and a fierce duellist, with a preference for dual-wielding a standard length lightsabre and a shoto. Like Kina, she used to be a Jedi before the enclave she lived in was sacked by Enyo and her associates. Deep down she still resents her boss to a degree.
The newest member of the squad is a former Rattataki gang member who was plucked from the streets of Lower Coruscant. Eirene Fotakis was a Force-Sensitive whose largely unconscious talents enabled her to gain preeminence in a youth gang despite her lack of formal training. She joined the squad for survival, but also because it promised her power and control. She is the youngest of the group, but observant, canny and more than a little manipulative. She excels at sniping, stealth and is good with knives. However, she is also cocky and has a bit of a sadistic streak.

However, this also represents their key weakness. The Geister are an extremely small unit, as they only consist of one squad. On the one hand this means they are trained very thoroughly, but on the other they are outnumbered extremely easily. They are not the type of unit that would be sent to storm a trench or an enemy fortress. To stay mobile they forego heavy weapons such as rotary cannons, heavy repeating blasters and missile launchers. This poses a problem in protracted engagements or if they run into heavy armour such as tanks and walkers. The Geister are a rapier or a dagger, not a battle axe.
Brain implants improve their coordination, while a mechanical reservoir acts as a second heart, pumping chemicals that boost adrenaline into their bloodstream. Ocular implants improve hearing, sight and targeting capabilities. Their augmentations also boost slicing and can allow them to manipulate machines, computers and the like. Furthermore, the Geister can share information through their telepathic link, enabling members who have not yet encountered the enemy to get an idea of possible threats and coordinate their attacks. They can use their implants and the Force to strike fast and unexpectedly to deliver lethal strikes, then vanish again. However, they would be in trouble if they are cornered or face large enemy forces.
Their Force training was overseen by Enyo herself, with some help from Garnet, a Shard who'd originally recruited Enyo for the Contingency and then joined her in doublecrossing them. Enyo taught her minions how to conceal their Force aura and use Force Cloak to turn themselves invisible to sight. Beyond these specialised stealth techniques, they can utilise Telekinesis, Force Stasis, physical enhancement techniques, mind tricks, Tutaminis and Force Affliction. Whereas the Eisenkrieger are the hammer, the Geister are the scalpel and must be deployed accordingly, especially due to their very low numbers. Each operative has been implanted with a NeuroDigital Matrix.
Strengths:
- Elite unit whose members combine Force training and military discipline. They excel at subversion, stealth and assassination.
- Their natural capabilities are augmented by cybernetic implants, which boost their strength, speed, stamina, resilience and reaction time. Brain implants provide coordination and allow them to communicate nonverbally. The implants are hardened to provide greater resistance against ion and electrical attacks and they wear insulated armour. This does not translate into immunity, but gives them greater protection.
- Each agent has been implanted with a NeuroDigital Matrix. This device houses their consciousness. It is located inside the spine of an organic body, but can be interchanged with bodies by a relatively mundane procedure. Essentially this means that if an agent has been seriously wounded, they can potentially survive if an intact matrix is recovered. One could consider it a technological spin on essence transfer. It is also helpful for assassinations and espionage missions, as the agents can potentially throw pursuers off their trail.
- Lack heavy weapons such as anti-tank missile launchers, and heavy combat vehicles.
- Very small unit. Ill-suited for prolonged combat. They are a rapier, not a battle axe.
- Cannot employ electricity-based Force powers such as Lightning or Disable Droid without putting themselves at risk.
- The NeuroDigital Matrix is not immortality or a way to 'cheat death' on the battlefield after suffering fatal injury, as the matrix would still need to be recovered undamaged in order to be installed in a new body. It is also not feasible to have the device suddenly installed inside a user and to conduct the transfer on a battlefield because the difficult and time-consuming. Heavy damage can also destroy the device.
When the Sith Acolyte Vaylin learned of a Jedi enclave that had been set up as a refuge during the One Sith-Republic War, she hired Enyo Typhos and her paramilitary organisation to help her sack it. The Zabrak was motivated not only by a desire to eclipse the light, like every good Sith, but also wanted revenge, for the enclave was home to a number of Jedi she knew from her past. To Enyo it was good business, though she also bore a grudge against Jedi. However, the two darksiders did not merely want to carry out a massacre. Rather they decided it would be a good idea to capture a great number of Jedi and make use of them. The Jedi Masters and Knights fought valiantly to defend their charges, but were slaughtered nonetheless.
A few Knights and almost all of the Padawans were captured in battle. None managed to escape. Then Vaylin and Enyo divided the spoils and separated the wheat from the chaff. Some were deemed too weak or resistant to breaking and eliminated. Many of the captives were claimed by Vaylin, who took them to Bastion, where the Sith presumably did unpleasant things to them to break them in. Enyo claimed her fair share and took them to her base.
Their fate was also unpleasant. Enyo is no sadist, but dispassionate and this was reflected in her treatment of her prisoners. Gradually she eroded their resistance, employing a mixture of carrot and stick while keeping them isolated. They were subjected to a process of mental indoctrination, encouraging them to feel resentment against the Jedi for having 'misled' and 'abandoned' them. This went hand in hand with cybernetic augmentation to not only increase their utility in combat by enhancing their natural capabilities, but also make them controllable. Being a master of mechu-deru, Enyo favours cyborgs and droids because she can control them. Thus she designed the implants herself.
Training was harsh, and included fighting within the Force-null zone generated by ysalamiri so that they would know how to be effective in combat without using their powers. One prisoner died while making an escape attempt, though Enyo preferred not to punish disobedience with death because it would constitute a waste of resource. Eventually, the unit fell in line. Cooperation was rewarded with better treatment and greater freedom. Though their shackles remained, they were encouraged to regard themselves as an elite that stood apart from the rest of the Iron Fist Consortium rank and file. Indeed, they receive preferential treatment compared to the common grunts. Enyo sees the Force as nothing more than a tool and does not believe in Light or Dark. Thus her training did not involve preaching about how the acolytes should embrace their rage and follow their passions. However, they were taught to be merciless killers. Pleased with their progress after they had successfully passed their trials, she called them the Geister.
Eventually, she took them on their first raids, deploying a few at the Battle of Mirial. What began as a pest control operation against zombies turned into a battle when the Silver Jedi Order unexpectedly attempted to drive the Sith from the planet and aid the Mirialan resistance, though the acolytes performed well under fire. Enyo used the opportunity to augment their numbers a little bit by taking captives after the Silver Jedi retreated. The irony was that Enyo had helped the Sith Empire unleash the zombies and scapegoat a Primeval cult in order to fool the natives into seeing the Sith as their protectors. Needless to say this remained a secret.
Later the Consortium's cyborgs helped rid the Trayus Academy of a chaotic darkside cult, as part of the Sith Empire's campaign to take control over Malachor. Enyo dubbed the new unit the Geister. They proved to be an asset when Enyo expanded her criminal operations to Vorzyd, taking over a Hutt syndicate. They served Enyo well in gang wars and corporate takeovers, using their skills to assassinate or intimidate her enemies. She also employed them for false flag operations. They played an important role in the final battle against Archangel, where they faced Force-Sensitive Shards who had a grudge against Enyo due to her betrayal of the Contingency. Then they helped her purge the Iron Fist Consortium of unreliable elements. A crime lord who had backed the Cyborg but then gotten second thoughts was led into a trap when one of the Geister deceived him into believing that she had broken with Enyo.
With Archangel under Enyo's control, the Geister look to the future. While their mistress has no qualms about profiting from the Galaxy's various conflicts, she does not care much about which galactic power holds sway at the moment. Instead she intends to explore and exploit the remote regions of the Galaxy, colonising worlds inhospitable to organic life. Within this context, the Geister perform secret missions to acquire special technology and covertly eliminate external or internal threats.
