General Combat training [Open to all padawans highly recommended]

Catherine had set up the various things for the training today, from hand to hand to dealing with various ranged and melee situations. The Siths attack indicated war loomed overhead and the Padawans needed to get serious about things before one of them died. As she made sure all was ready with help from the temple guards she bowed to them as they went to usher in those joining either as instructors or as padawan students.

 

[Celestia Tremaine]

Celestia walked into the training room, wearing her new Jedi robes, which was black, and she had her training lightsaber at her belt. She felt it was a good idea to come, to improve her combat skills.

She intended to go to these classes every chance she got, even if she was to find her new master, seemed like a good way to improve and grow stronger.

She respectably returned Catherine's bow as she waited for the rest of the students and instructors to come. While she tried to hide it on the outside, inside, she was eager for the lessons to begin.

Wu was here at the academy with a chance to really work on things for themselves when she wanted to learn how to use a saber. Walking into the room with a small look on her face from behind her bangs though before staying there. THe short Jin padawan entered itno the room and she had a lot of training now learning Basic properly so she could speak and her time in the kitchens had been giving her a chance to really work and meet with a number of the other jedi padawans and masters or knights. Sticking around for herself though she wanted to see some of the parts that they were getting to learn. "Hello." Wu said it while she was looking at them both in there.

She noted only two but shrugged. "Alright then welcome Padawans. Today we'll be going over some dueling basics. And combat generalities. Not to be confused with the very basics of light saber combat. I expect you have drilled in those before. If not I refer you to the other instructors. Now what can you both tell me in terms of hand to hand combat and saber skills you have?"

Wu was looking at the woma and listenig as she thought about what she had been learning. The Jin had some skills in hand to hand and the short padawan compared to many had a lower center of gravity as well as her own self being small and able to move faster then some. She could think of a few good things that went with it and what she would be able to do in the long run as she spoke. "The Jin teach basic hand to hand combat and how to use a blade in case of danger. My master has also started teaching me the basics of shii-cho."

Entering the room as Cathrine started speaking she walked over. Having heard a combat lesson would be happening she thought she'd join in. Looking around the room and noticing a few more mats had been added she eyed them. They usually weren't brought out when there was exclusively lightsaber practice. Turning her attention back she answered the question. "Been hunting all my life."

 

[Jairdain]

Jera walked into yet another open class, this one about different forms of combat. She had very little training in weapons, just some basic knowledge of how to use a vibrosword and the Force.

The tutor was just speaking as she entered..."in terms of hand to hand combat and saber skills you have?"

The other two spoke first and Jera considered her answer. She places her hand on the hilt of her vibrosword.

"I can use this vibrosword well enough and what you call the Force."

It still sounds funny to her, "The Force".

"Though from what I can tell, that isn't something that should be used as a weapon."

She fell silent after speaking, waiting for the others or the lesson to begin.

Listening to each she nodded then, she got to Jairdain. Soja stepped toward her slowly. "really and who told you that?" She asked with a curious tone in her voice. "The force is what gives a jedi his or her power. Without it the jedi are little more than monks wielding a blade made out of a star." She spoke calmly but with conviction in her voice. "Your greatest tool and weapon and ally in all things should be the force." What were they teaching padawans now she wondered.

 

[Jairdain]

Jera considered her answer before speaking to Catherine. She briefly looked to the ground while thinking.

"What I mean is considered the Darkside to you."

In her culture, there is no dark or light, it just is. Some students were able to use lightening and other offensive powers, much better than what Jairdain could back then. Before they were all banished and sent away. She is no longer Jairdain though, she is Jera, young Jedi in training.

She looks up again at Catherine and continues her answer.

"You consider certain skills or abilities to be evil, dark or bad. Correct? However, they can be used constructively just the same."

Not sure if she should say more yet, Jera falls silent and places her hands behind her back, waiting for Catherine to either ask more or continue the lesson she had just started.

Wu looked at the other ones as the jedi knight was taking the time to listen to another one. It was a good way to make use of learning basic.... or at least making sure she was hearing the correct things from them so that she could try and figure out what they were saying here. Her hands were clasped in front of her here while she was looking at everything there. She was uncertain about parts of it when they were speaking though so she was moving around when they wanted to see.

She looked at Jairdain. "The use of the force to fight is not the dark side. The Dark side is the force as fueled by raw emotions that endanger you. Let me ask how do you feel here? Right now?" She asked.

Wu was looking at the other ones with her in the room now as the master was speaking to the padawan and answering the question. She really only had her skills in the force and with well the Jin. THey dind't have much in the way of force capabilities and information for themselves compared to the others.... but there were legends of mystics. So listening to all of them she was curious about all of it She wanted to learn about the jedi in many more ways so that she would be able to hopefully have something better and more interesting.

 

[Jairdain]

[member="Catherine Soja"] looked right at her and asked how she felt right then and there.

"At home."

It was the answer that came to Jairdain's mind first and what she said. Everything that had happened to her since joining the Jedi has made her feel welcome and at home. Like when she was little, until everybody got sick and died. That's when it all changed for her.

"I've always kept a control of my emotions in situations, they should never be allowed to control you."

Jairdain made it a statement about herself and how she was raised.

"However, there are times when emotion is needed, but those are very rare."

She nodded she was deviating off topic so she figured she woudl end it there. "Very well then, for now I'd like each of you to pair with somebody we'll start with basic hand to hand combat. Just a few quick drills then we move on to sabers." She didn't want to waste too much time now on a debate.

Wu was looking at the others who were there with her and the small Jin prepared for it. Getting a small chance to pair off with someone maybe but she was uncertain about who any of them were as she walked back around towards the teacher. She gave a nod of her head whille standing there with a small grin on her face for now, before she was holding the training blade in her hands.

 

[Sam Quin]

Another young padawan would walk into the room the smallest hints of a frown on his face for a few seconds before it was replaced with a neutral look as his eyes glanced at all the people in the room before he would bow his head quickly to the group before making his way over. He would be on the slim side for some one his height but the way he walked, the way he held himself was like that or some one that understood how to handle themselves. He didn't show weakness in the way he held himself nor was it arrogant or challenging

"I am sorry I am a bit late, I am still having a hard time finding my way around the Academy... I am not quite used to it yet" His voice would be like how he held himself, it showed no softness or weakness but it offered no challenge within it. "I understand hand to hand rather well and I have quite a bit of practice with the sword but I have never used a saber until I came here." His gaze looking to Catherine as he spoke

Listening to those here. She was still a bit lost on teaching sometimes. "If you all feel you are well enough off with hand to hand then. Would you rather go straight to saber combat?" She asked.
