Archduke of Stalgasin Hive
SPECIAL FEATURES
Designed by Geonosian Industries as well as Stalgasin Hive, the Geonosian "Hydra" Specialized Layered Armor Wall, otherwise known as the SLAW, is unique in that it is a form of specialied layered-alloy approach to materials - utilizing layers of alloys of laminasteel, phobium, and ferrocarbon, with a mixed layer of all three at the bottom. This material approach to the alloys means it can be utilized to make up a suitable armor material for armour. It's best utilized as a basis for the armour in question, with the alloy creating a distinctive gold-bronze hue to it due to the mixed components.
- A flexible material and metal, the "Hydra" Specialized Layered Armor Wall Alloy, otherwise known as the Geonosian Industries SLAW-Alloy, is a form of starship and vehicular armor alloy designed for the purpose of protecting starships and vehicles in combat. Uniquely designed to be a series of layered alloys stretched over a singular mixed alloy with layers in-between for a specialized subsystem, this makes it intriguingly unique - but also has its own downsides.
- SLAW is unique in that it is designed to dissipate large amounts of energy (though nothing like a concentrated singular point as a lightsaber, more-so laser cannons and energy weapons) across its surface.
- Likewise, kinetic ordnance and ion weapons find it difficult to pierce through this layered-alloy approach, making it extremely sturdy.
- Extremely flexible and lightweight, it's meant to be able to give without deforming or splintering, making vehicles and starcraft equipped with it much faster, as well as making it able to withstand kinetic stressors more easily.
- Uniquely, Geonosian SLAW is designed to be capable of being repaired easily so long as the bottom layer is not damaged - by fitting over armor sheets and "welding it" back into place, this allows the material to conduct easy repairs and logistics, though this does make it not as easily modular for other components.
- Geonosian SLAW is unique also with the property that it is heat and sonic resistant, due to its layered-alloy approach and flexible material.
- Alloy can be easily recolored with the mixing of different metals without compromising any of its features, making it suitable for aesthetic appearances.
- Only the Geonosians of Stalgasin Hive and Geonosian Industries knows how to make it in their special way, making it difficult to reproduce.
- The alloy itself is prone to being slightly more expensive comparatively to most starship and vehicular armor - while not terribly expensive, it is more expensive than most middle-grade armors.
- SLAW itself is designed to be layers of alloys stretched over a mixed alloy; this does create problems with the fact that it means construction of the hulls (though not forging) takes longer, a fair bit, for these vehicles and starships.
- Not being modular either, the SLAW has difficulties with modular parts due to its alloyed nature, making it better suited for designs without much flexibility.
- The subsystem (soon to be formally submitted and linked here) is capable of failing given enough duress from weaponry-based impacts.
- Electrical-based attacks, if sustained for modest periods of time, can eventually "leech" through the armor to start attacking subsystems or the crew if they're exposed to it, with any electrical reinforcement being only able to delay, not stop, this method of attack.
