Darik Plutan

Some 200,000 individuals have joined the GPRM, bringing its total amount of available companies to around 1300. These numbers will increase over the next few months as more Geonosians and off-world volunteers join the GPRM and further swell its numbers.

-60% Combat Soldiers
-20% Non-Combat (Engineers, Sappers, etc.)
-20% Political Officers, Commissars, and their support staff.
Description: The Geonosian People’s Revolutionary Militia (GPRM) was the brainchild of Darik Plutan in the weeks following the overthrow of the Geonosian Monarchy and the establishment of the new Geonosian Revolutionary Government (GRG). Darik sat down with several of the Rebel Alliance military leaders and military thinkers to come up with a new military branch that could not only serve the needs of the people of Geonosis to defend themselves from external invasion, but also provide them with the kind of manpower that the Alliance desperately needed to fill its void in ground forces. The units themselves are made up of native Geonosians, volunteers from the various Anarchist groups that came to Geonosis, and other volunteers from across the Rebel Alliance.
The GPRM is itself not very well trained or armed. Most of their weapons are cast-off weapons that they have purchased on the open market or that are already available. This means that their armories are never standardized, nor are they uniform across any of the various militia units serving across Geonosis. Training is largely ad hoc and pieced together from traditional military training programs, anarchist training programs, and a general desire to serve the greater good.
Furthermore, service in the GPRM is divided up between combat, non-combat, and political activities. Those serving in noncombat roles would, in traditional militaries, be serving in such roles as the Corps of Engineers or construction roles. The GPRM keeps them around to help with the various construction tasks that are required on Geonosis as the infrastructure of the planet is in desperate need of upgrading following years of neglect by foreign corporations. Those noncombat personnel are not of much use in a battle, but they can build a great bridge or a highway merge under fire if need be!
The third branch of the GPRM is the political branch, divided up between front-line political officers who indoctrinate the various Geonosian and other sentients serving in the GPRM with various propaganda tools (The Little Black Book, Collectivism, etc.), and those serving as political commissars in rear guard whose job it is to oversee the political activities of the front line political officers. While the political branch of the GPRM is itself technically answerable to the higher ups of the Alliance military and government, in reality it is answerable only to itself and the Selectivist Party and the Galactic Revolutionary Collectivist Party. There is a very real sense among political commissars and front line political officers that the GPRM will soon become the tool for true political indoctrination among the people of Geonosis in the months and years to come as they bring them towards true representative government.
Weapons: An ad hoc mixture of everything that they can find on the open market, black market, or in personal possession. As such, the weaponry is not standardized across any of the units and is dependent on the individual soldier to select and acquire their weapons. However, they do have general access to large amounts of land mines and grenades, both thermal detonators and other types of hand held explosives. Very limited access to light mortars/artillery, E-Web type repeating blasters, and slugthrowers of both the rifled and machine gun variety. Future attempts will be made to standardize weapons across all of the units to ease the supply chain.
Strengths:
-Revolutionary Zeal: The new GPRM is the product of the Geonosian Revolution and is lead by many who directly participated. As such, they have a fervent desire to prove themselves against any enemies that might come their way.
-Strength in Numbers: When they attack, the GPRM attacks in waves. There is never just one or two, there are always more behind them.
-Suicidal Courage: Their attacks could be considered either courageous, suicidal, or both. When the attack is commenced, they throw themselves at the front without consideration for their lives. They serve the cause and live and die by its needs.
Weaknesses:
-Poor Training: While Stormtroopers and most other military forces would give their forces months, if not years, of training, the GPRM gives their forces less than two months' training. Most of that training is spent in political seminars where they learn the goals and aspirations of Selectivism and Collectivism as applied to the peoples' lives and economic development. Practical military training lags while political training is emphasized.
-Cowardice among the Rear Line Political Commissars: While the average foot soldier has the courage of four or five soldiers, the political commissars from the rear lines are much more concerned with their lives than serving the cause. They won't stick in a battle unless they have to, and even then it's a rare occasion.
-Supply Issues: Although blasters are plentiful, the GPRM is still very new and as such has supply problems. Some units will have blasters but limited ammunition, some units will have ammunition but few blasters. It's a problem that will be solved eventually, but for right now the supply depots are a mess.
-Communications Problems: Because the GPRM is not from a single uniform background, they have to have a wide array of translators who can quickly move between languages. Getting orders translated back and forth takes time and time equals loss of effectiveness on the battlefield during heavy fire scenarios.
