DESCRIPTION
With the Galactic Foreign Legion coming of age and having gained battlefield experience with their current weaponry the higher ups in the Legion decided it was a good time to interview Legionnaires on their thoughts on the weapon and conducted tests on their weapons and possible replacements.

The first weapon they look at was the standard sidearm of the Legion, the CP-01. They started with the interviews, taking fifty Legionnaires from each of the Legion's ten battalions. Instead of going into the interviews with preset questions, and therefore preconceived notions, the interviewers simply asked the Legionnaires to give their honest opinions of the pistol.

In all the Legionnaires described the pistol 'as a decent pistol but not exactly what they needed'. When asked what they meant by this they said that the round fired by the CP-01 wasn't strong enough for the fights they usually found themselves in. When asked how they solved this problem many admitted to having personally purchased another Hekler'Kok product, the FP-01. The interviewers found that the Legionnaires liked the FP-01 due to its reliability, simplicity and durability as well as its much higher stopping power compared to the CP-01.

With the interviews concluded tests began to be ran on some already designed pistols as well as a few prototypes. The pistols tested was the CP-01, FP-01 and modified versions of both of them. Thousands of rounds were fired in several different environments under a multitude of conditions and in the end the modified version of the FP-01 won out as it meet and exceeded the three main parameters the test: stopping power, reliability and accuracy.

This new FP-01, officially dubbed the Legion Combat Pistol Mark I by the Legion Armorers, is an up-gunned version chambered in the much larger 11.43x23mm cartridge, known galaxy-wide for its stopping power.

Besides this much of the FP-01 materials were exchanged were exchanged for lighter yet more durable materials, such as all metallic components being replaced with Hekler'Kok's patented Titanium-Alusteel Alloy, except the barrel which was replaced with heavier Quadanium Steel to help with recoil. The inside of said barrel was lined with Chromium to reduce wear and tear over time. The grips were made of Plastoid to reduce weight and finally the entirety of the pistol was coated in CeramiCoat to reduce external wear and tear.

Many of the features from the original FP-01 were kept while a few new ones were added. The ambidextrous grip and thumb safety were retained while the slide and magazine release were extended and made reversible to make them easier to manipulate and better accommodate the specific user, respectively. The rear slide serrations stayed while more serrations were added to the front, the pistols grips were also given a more aggressive texturing allow for a more firm grip.

With the original features kept and a few even enhanced the armorers began working adding in features suggested in the interviews and tests. A beveled magazine well makes reload smoother and therefore faster. Luminous night sights were added to give better accuracy in low light conditions. An accessory rails allows for the mounting of accessories such as flashlights and laser sights. A heavy barrel increases accuracy by reducing muzzle climb while lastly the barrel can be swapped with a threaded one for use with suppressors.

With the pistols designing finished the first production batch was made and issued to the Legion's 1st Regiment, the most experienced unit and as such thought most capable of testing the new sidearm. Almost as soon as it was deployed the Legionnaires began giving the weapon glowing reviews and their stamp of approval. With this fielding testing concluded the rest of the Legion was equipped with their new sidearm.

Very nicely made and deadly firearm! I found two issues:
  • Rate of Fire: Slow; this slow rating is low, please fix it.
  • And your ratings is a bit underpowered (-1), if you want you can edit.
