Special Features: Scaled to fit a Herglic, this piece is truly massive. Massive frame, massive rounds, massive recoil. No mere mortal could handle this weapon.
Strengths:
- The .45-70 is a big damn bullet, with everything that entails. It delivers an impressive kinetic load to the target, and can potentially put a spiced up wookiee down with a single shot.
- Since it's scaled to fit the customer, he'll likely find it comfortable to use, which is nice.
- Custom low velocity gas rounds feature a a hollowpoint into which a small, pill-sized gas canister can be inserted. The lower velocity means that the canister will survive until impact, at which point it will release a pressurized spray of whatever agent the customer desires.
- Though the .45-70 Government has excellent stopping power, it's not designed for armor penetration. It'll certainly let whatever it hits know it's been winged, with the potential to cause severe injuries just by making the armor smack into the meatsack within, but it will have trouble punching through anything more than light cloth armor.
- Though the weapon is perfectly scaled to fit the customer, anyone else that tries to use it is likely to find it comically oversized.
Description: When a giant, bipedal whale asks you to build him a weapon, the only solution is to build one whale of a gun. With that in mind, Rusty picked the biggest round he could feasibly squeeze into a pistol and built a gun around it. The weapon is designed to make use of the .45-70, a somewhat primitive round that none the less packs an impressive punch.
The design itself is simple and robust. The only thing really extraordinary about it is the size. Herglics are massive compared to the average or even well above average humanoid, and the frame was tailored to suit the customer. Even a wookiee would find it comically huge, and that's saying something. That size, however, mitigates some of the fearsome recoil, though the customer assures Rusty that he won't find it bothersome in the least.
One of the special requests for this weapon was a round that was capable of working with Forcebreaker gas. Though Rusty has no access to the gas in question, he was able to design a general purpose gas round. The round is a low density, low velocity hollowpoint. The hollow pocket is designed in such a way that special gas canisters, about the size of a medicine capsule, can be secured and inserted easily. The compressed gas canisters shatter on impact, spewing a goodly amount of whatever agent the customer desires out at the target. In order to cycle the rounds properly, the customer must switch the weapon to gas mode, accomplished by a flick of a switch. Firing gas rounds in normal mode will cause the weapon to fail to cycle properly. Firing normal rounds in gas mode will cause extensive damage. In order to distribute a meaningful amount of gas, the customer will likely need to fire several rounds into the target.
