SETTING INFORMATION
- Space Station Name: Gilad Pellaeon War College and Officer's Academy
- Station Model: Golan Star Fortress
- Classification: Space Station Military Academy
- Location: Corellian Sector
- Affiliation: The Galactic Alliance
- Population: Heavy
- Demographics: 90% Citizens of the Galactic Alliance; 2% Transient Workers; 8% Other
- Accessibility: The academy was located a short (less than 1 hour) hyperspace jump away from the Corellian System, located near a naturally forming asteroid belt. While the asteroid belt could be difficult to maneuver if one was to attempt to sneak, it was very lightly patrolled. With the coordinates of the station, which were accessible on the HoloNet, one could jump to the location with no issues. Proper identification would be required at docking request but the War College sectors were typically easy to gain access to and nearly open to all civilians as they did take students from other galactic governments as long as they weren't nations that were enemies of the Galactic Alliance. The Officer's Academy was much more difficult to enter, requiring a military code cylinder or a pre-approved student visa code cylinder. This was due to the sensitive nature of the topics often discussed behind these walls as well as the experimental technologies being tested and researched by Galactic Alliance EnDiv. For students of the War College and the Officer's Academy, there were shuttles available for rent that had rudimentary hyperdrive that could take you to Corellia and back.
- Traffic: Medium
- Description: The Gilad Pellaeon Officer's Academy was one of the premier military academies in Galactic Alliance space. Though a private institution, many of its facilities were utilized by the Galactic Alliance navy for their officer's training program. The main use of the academy was as a co-ed military school which offered standard university courses while including a strong military component. Students of the War College were expected to pass frequent fitness tests, participate in extra-curricular sports activities, and spend a minimum of one year, usually their senior year, aboard a military vessel fulfilling the task that was assigned to them which usually coincided with their chosen major. For the Alliance, this education would put graduates on the fast track in their military career with graduates being offered the officer rank of Lieutenant upon successful completion of their coursework with some other local defense forces such as Kuat going so far as to even give graduates full command of smaller ships like patrol corvettes or gunships. Some students used this education to pursue their own careers in large trans-galactic shipping companies as well.
Based out of a heavily modified Golan Star Fortress, the War College offered plenty of space for classrooms, laboratories, dorms, officer quarters, shopping, simulators and recreational areas. Pets were allowed on the station and were frequent companies of students making furry and scaley critters a common sight in the station's park. A small handful of restaurants and cantinas were also available on sight. Several of the hangars once dedicated to carrying fighters had been modified to hold corvettes and other small capital ships for bulk transport of goods and students. The station ran on Corellian local time and thus its semesters were also based around Corellia's seasons.
Apart from the station, a single FarStar-Type Corellian carrier served as part of the attached flight school, offering students and officers in training the opportunity to practice maneuvers in real fighters with a real capital ship. The vessel was donated by the recently elected Diktat of Corellia. Other donated items included a collection of ancient battle droids from the Clone Wars era from the senator of Coruscant and a Constance-Class Patrol ship from the Lord Regent of Kuat, both of which were used for courses and internship opportunities. Funding from the Galactic Alliance and donations like these made the Gilad Pellaeon Maritime Officer's Academy into a shining star of military schooling and maritime training.
POINTS OF INTEREST
- War College: The war college offered a more civilian-esque local compared to the Galactic Alliance's Officer Academy sector. Classrooms, labs, and sims were mostly located here along with dorms, shops etc.
- Hangars: The hangars of the academy's space station housed freighters, corvettes, and a few squadrons of starfighters for defense purposes. There were also hangars converted for classes and workshops that dealt with the maintenance and management of starfighters.
- Simulation Library: Several of these were located throughout the station. They allowed officers in training and students to simulate fleet battles from any number of positions be it from the bridge, as part of a gun crew, engineering, etc.
- Natasi Daala Park: Bloodfin Park, named after Gilad Pellaeon's last command, was a lush artificial park built near the center of the station. It was accessible from both the War College and the Officer's Academies and took up two decks. Ponds, thickets, and gardens were meticulously maintained by advanced weather and atmosphere manipulation technology, not unsimilar to that used on planets like Coruscant. This was done to give students who couldn't return home or rather didn't want to return home during long breaks the opportunity to explore every season of Corellia. In the center of the park was a metal statue depicting The Bloodfin flying above Gilad Pellaeon flanked by Natasi Daala. The statue has been a point of contention in the academy due to some Neo-Palpatininan Imperials spray painting "#DaalaDidNothingWrong" beneath the beautiful statue. Prior to his death, Jedi Knight
Lanik Dawnstar
was an avid supporter of removing Daala from the statue.
SECURITY: High
With the academy being partly funded by the Galactic Alliance and several key research resources being located on the station, a small force of Galactic Alliance marines were stationed in the Galactic Alliance zones. As for space, the station was always defended by a pair of Negotiator-Class light cruisers and a Golan Fighter Platform. The station itself was a Golan Star Fortress which provided enough firepower on its own to take on most small flotillas on its own, holding them off until a fleet could arrive to defend it. The two vessels donated to the War College, while considered training vessels, were fully operational vessels and could also partake in any defensive maneuvers required.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION
Originally established sometime after 800ABY, the Gilad Pellaeon Officer's Academy, or GPA, was constructed by CorSec with funding from several large companies including Corellian Engineering Corporation and Tendrando Arms. Built as a premier naval officer's academy it was named after a prominent historical figure from Corellia's past. The founder of the Imperial Remnant lost to the annals of time, Gilad Pellaeon despite his mysterious history, had left his mark on the Galaxy with several classes of warships named in his honor and a multitude of schools. During this time Corellia was searching for heroes and figures again in their history as rumblings for independence began in the New Republic. The academy was the first step in that direction, granting them an elite and state of the art school to train their loyal Defense Force officers.
Many of these officers however went on to serve the Republic, quickly growing its fame, but siphoning all of Corellia's talent to the Republic. Eventually, the board of directors caved to intergalactic pressures and began admitting students from across the Galaxy, becoming a premier military academy for the Republic. Its halls would become a great source of learning, research, tactical development, and military history. Despite hosting students from across the Galaxy, it was still staffed heavily by Corellians though, and would pump out some of the best Corellian Admirals in recent history.
After the New Republic fell, the GPA once again fell under Corellian Jurisdiction. The small fleet of dated warships kept there as training vessels for up and coming officers played a pivotal role in the liberation of Corellia as students mutinied against their teachers and mentors to fly headlong into battle. The founding of the Corellian Confederation saw the Gilad Pellaeon Officer's Academy churn out several classes of fine Corellian Officers. Over the decades it has been continually updated with the latest technologies, state of the art simulators, more up to date vessels, and expert teachers. Eventually, the academy would be brought under the jurisdiction of the reconstituted Galactic Alliance where a fierce rivalry would develop between them and the military Academy on Anaxes.
