The Gladiator-class vessel is the latest interaction of the classic Imperial starship design. The vessel is designed to operate as an escort for larger vessels, Command vessel for smaller escort forces, or as a stand-alone patrol vessel.
Systems
Power for the Gladiator-class is provided by three Proton-8 reactors each encased in an ejectable Impervium shell. Redundant power transmission systems can adjust to operate off as few as one of the reactors at once when needed. Ten Hansen FeatherTouch Tractor Beam Projectors assist with launch and recovery of attack craft and in capturing operations when needed. Six external Docking Rings are equipped to allow docking with medium-sized vessels when needed. A full suite of sensors, Targeting, and com. systems give the Gladiator-class good tactical operations capabilities allowing it to act as a light command vessel if needed.
Complament
The Gladiator-class has an average hanger complement consisting of three attack craft squadrons. The centralized hanger can be accessed from either the forward hanger door or one of the flank hanger doors. Each door has a reinforced blast door that can be closed during battle to protect the vessel's hanger from boarding operations. The Gladiator-class has a small security force of two-hundred marines for protection from boarders and security purposes. A small cargo area amidships houses food and supplies for the crew and passengers for up to six months without resupply. Three thousand five hundred tons of additional cargo can be carried and stored in the cargo holds of the vessel. This includes any equipment needed for any of the various operations the Gladiator-class may be assigned.
Armament
The Gladiator is equipped with a light armament of mixed weapon systems. Designed as a patrol and escort vessel, the Gladiator has six dual heavy turbolaser turrets for engaging heavier vessels at standard and close range. These weapons can engage at longer ranges but are far less effective due to targeting limitations. Six quad turbolaser turrets aid the heavier weapon systems with their higher rate of fire standard range firepower. Ten missile batteries round out the offensive weapons equipped on the Gladiator-class. These weapon systems consist of a quad launcher which is retractable when not in use and for reloading. Twenty-four Duel large laser cannons make up the lions share of the Gladiator's defensive weapon systems. These give the vessel long-range firepower against smaller faster-moving attack craft. Six CIWS make up the remaining defensive weapon loadout of the Gladiator -class. These weapon systems offer point defense against attack craft and incoming projectiles.
Defense
The Gadiator-class has an above-average defensive suite which includes three IFW-76x Fortress Shield Projectors fr the main shield system. An additional Redundant Molecular Shield projectors aids in absorbing all forms of energy and funneling it into large capacitor banks to be used by the vessel systems and weapons. A Solar-Ray Shield Projector protects the vessel from harsh solar radiation and solar-based weapon systems. The Gladiator-class utilizes a Ferrofaraday Starship Frame which gives the vessel a hardened frame as well as acts to protect the internal systems of the vessel with its Agrinium mesh cage. Turadium Blast Doors, Bulkheads, Internal Walls give the internal structure hardened defense against boarders. This and additional defensive countermeasures work in unison to assist the crew with repelling boarders. An EWAR suite made up of mostly defensive systems aids in the defense of the vessel.
