Jace Trent

"I aim to misbehave...
On board the Defiance
En route to Ryloth
Crew for this Job: [member="Eliza Steele"] [member="Aden Dawson"] [member="Corvetta Salvo"] [member="Damon Riggs"]

The Defiance floated through hyperspace, ferrying her ragtag group of spacers to their next job. Captain Jace Trent walked through the lower cargo hold, making sure that the empty cargo containers were secure and tied down.
Hopefully, if this job went well, these containers would be full of crystals with adapted glitterstim, which he would deliver to Nar Shaddaa.
Jace wasn't a fan of the stuff himself, but a job was a job.

Satisfied that everything was secure, he entered the lift and took it up to the middle deck, and then took the forward lift up to the top deck.
He entered the crew's lounge where the others were and leaned against the wall. "20 minutes till we exit hyperspace. If ya have questions, now is the time to ask..."

The Corellian Rose (retired)
Eliza Steele had just finished prepping ion weapons for the crew on the end of the lounge table to use on the energy spiders they would no doubt encounter in the ryll mines when her partner [member="Jace Trent"] strolled into the general meeting place on the L4000 transport. The petite smuggler flashed the ruggedly handsome Captain one of her spirited Corellisi smiles, then sat back in the chair and finished off her caf that was now cold, and thought of the only question on her mind.

"So what's the plan after we land?"

Holding a Beskad in my hands, a weapon used by Mandalorians, I had an oiled rag that was being used to clean the blade. Even though it was made of Beskar, or Mandalorian Iron, it could tarnish if not cleaned. I stayed silent and I felt almost naked as I was not in my own ship. I had only bought it recently, but even without it, I already could feel homesick. I was glad that this was really only going to be a short, well relatively short, smuggling operation. I looked around seeing the other well known Smugglers and scoundrels that had done harder jobs than this.

Hearing the sounds of a lift, I looked to the man, [member="Jace Trent"], resident Captain of the Defiance the ship that we were using. As he said it would be almost time to go, I put the oiled rag away, and grabbed a clean on. Rubbing the excess oils off, I then put it on the sheath that was over my back. Grabbing the twin daggers from the table in front of me, I put them in the sheaths placed in my boots, and made sure that my two slugthrower pistols were still there. Loaded up with ten shots each, revolvers that were rather heavy. Training with a Beskad was alot worse than lifting a heavy gun and firing it.

I shook my head as I stood up, "Yeah, With this place, how many creatures will we have to deal with?"

and as on cue the voices finally spoke up in my mind,
"You might be fighting alot Aden"
"Thats a no brainer."
"Leave the kid alone, he just has a question"
"Zac just be quiet"
"Yes please."

I ignored them as I paid attention. I needed to, or I could lose my life.

Awkward, that one word described how it felt to not be sleeping in the captain's quarters. Riggs was too used it, commanding his own ship. This was the first job in a long time that saw him subordanate to someone else. Would it be a problem, no. The "retired" fleet captain knew how to behave in a chain of command. Riggs could take orders, and he could follow them perfectly. Besides this Jace fellow seemed like he was capable enough. His taste in women was good, but not for Riggs. The fledged turned smuggler had someone, or did, something like that. He still wasn't over her loss.

When call came over the ships comm, Riggs got out of his bunk like a good soldier, holstered his standard issue side arm, and threw his jacket over his shoulders. The spacer walked into the area where everyone was supposed to gather. It was time for details. Riggs wanted to know the plane, his role, and what to do if things went south. Contingency plans were big for him right now. A bit of the PTSD he had from losing his whole crew. Riggs wasn't going to see that happen again anytime soon.

"That's what I want to know," Riggs said pouring his own cup of caf which he usually drank black, but lately, since the battle, he drank with four creams.

He stood as if he was the captain. Old habits died hard.

Corvetta could not help but feel at home aboard the Defiance, even if it was not what she considered 'home' was supposed to feel like. Truly, she had never known the feeling at all. But here was a group of her kind--the purebred mutts who had the only rights to be known as spacers.

The spacer chick leaned against one of the empty crates in her trademark coat and goggles, a distant smile apparent on her face as she listened to all the questions. They were jumping ahead of the game. The name 'Ryloth' spelled as much trouble as did the word 'spice'. "First things first, guys," she spoke up, a smirk developing out of that smile as her gloved hands overlapped across her torso. "Who here knows how to dust Twi-land?" She raised her hand and glanced around the room.

Jace Trent

"I aim to misbehave...
Jace listened intently as the others stated asked their questions. He paused a moment, then looking to [member="Corvetta Salvo"] "Well, I'll be bringing her in. We are gonna be scraping dirt so make sure you hold on, but we should be able to dodge the radar."
ext he looked at [member="Damon Riggs"] and [member="Aden Dawson"] "Hopefully none, but what I hope for and what plays out are never the same thing. So be ready. I do have a crate of ion rifles down there, so each of you grab one. Blasters won't do any good."
Finally his eyes fell on [member="Eliza Steele"] and rested there a second before he addressed everyone.

"The plan is, once we touch down, we haul ass into the mine, grab the crystals and get out. That's the simple version. If those spiders show up, kill em, or throw your fusion lantern away from you, as they are attracted to lights. Also, make sure you wear you breathers down there, don't want you getting high and karking things up."
He looked at everyone and softened a bit "Look, I know that each of us are a Captain of our own ships, so it's gotta be a bit awkward not giving the orders. Sure, we are on board the Defiance so I call the shots. But you are all capable folk, and once we get down there, do what you do best. I aint looking to boss anyone around. I just have one order...." He paused as his face hardened again "You get back on the Defiance alive, or so help me, when I find you in hell I'll kill ya again!"

The Corellian Rose (retired)
Eliza drank in [member="Jace Trent"]'s gaze as he briefly looked at her. No words needed to be spoken between them as they were of the same mind set, then the dark-eyed brunette listened attentively to what the Corellian Captain had to say was the group's game plan.

The spirited Corellisi hated spiders so this would be interesting. Some of her fear of the arachnids was because of what her father went through dealing with them while serving his time in prison on Kessel. The stories Remy Steele shared with his daughter after he was freed sent chills down her spine.

"Well then let's get to cranking on that plan," Eliza said with a nod, then pushed back from her chair to make her way towards the cockpit of the L4000 transport.

The voices in my head were silent as the Captain spoke, and with that, I nodded my head as we would be heading out soon. Sitting back down as this was clear that some of us were in awkward places, but that meant nothing now. We were doing this to get some money, and well. as we would be delivering stuff like this, I decided to ask the question that was probably on all of our minds.

"Alright, What if we wanted some of these crystals ourselves, or even the Silk? Does all of what we get go to the contact, or do we get some for a profit?

[member="Jace Trent"], [member="Eliza Steele"], [member="Corvetta Salvo"], [member="Damon Riggs"],

Riggs listened to the speech, he had given thousands like it. He made a grand speech the day his entire crew was lost. Speeches didn't mean a thing, but the ex-officer wasn't about to burst the captains bubble. Showboating is all it was, well that and making sure the objectives were clear. There was only one Riggs really cared about, and that was the make it back alive apart. He nodded at that.

"Forget the extra cargo," he said forgetting for a moment it wasn't his call to make. "We get in, we get the stuff, we get out, and that's it. We can decide what to do with any extra if we get that far."

He had spoken, he might as well finish the thought. Though he did nod an apology to [member="Jace Trent"]. Simply put, Riggs was there to ensure everyone made it out alive, even if he didn't. The Coruscanti had motivation though. He took the job to get credits for a trip to Taanab. Riggs was getting out alive.

[member="Aden Dawson"][member="Eliza Steele"][member="Corvetta Salvo"]

Corvetta was about to head back to her project in the engine room when [member="Aden Dawson"] and [member="Damon Riggs"] spoke up. "I'd just leave it up to time," she suggested. She was rather open-minded about grabbing a few extra kilograms for themselves, but she really wanted to play things on the safe side this run. "We could keep an eye on the ticker and see if we can afford to make another stash trip. As for me, though, I'm fine dustin' outta Twi-land fast as possible. The weather is nasty."

Turning to head back to her project in the engine room, Corvetta paused as another thought crossed her mind. "Hey, uh... who's gonna monitor the comms while we're lugging?"

[member="Jace Trent"] [member="Eliza Steele"]

Jace Trent

"I aim to misbehave...
Jace pondered the request for a moment, then responded.
"The safety of everyone comes first, then the job second. After that, then you can worry about lining your own pockets. Find a way to not become an obstacle to the first two, and I won't care about the latter." [member="Aden Dawson"] [member="Damon Riggs"]
Then he responded to [member="Corvetta Salvo"] "Eliza's bucket of bolts will remain on board, so he will monitor comms."
He winked at [member="Eliza Steele"]. He had never been a fan of droids, but Leeboo had grown on him, he just couldn't let the droid know that.

He stood up from his leaning position from the wall "Alright kids, strap in, we're about to leave hyperspace"
He turned around and took the lift down to the middle deck and entered the cockpit and took his seat. He slipped on the comm headset and lovingly caressed the yoke. He was ready....

Looking to the man who had spoken up, I nodded my head. I knew that we would have to have safety first. I'm not going to line my pockets before finishing the mission. Either I get a few credits from the stuff I collect for myself, and get in deep poodoo for not doing the mission, or do the mission, and use the money to get other things. It was just logic. I only looked at the man and had a few thoughts of mine become mimicked by the voices in my head. Even Zac was worried.

"That guy might not be the best to be around."
"He's still stuck on Captain mode. Watch for him trying to control the situation."
"Oh I have a bad feeling about this one Aden."
"Haden keep an eye on everybody. But watch out for the Riggs captain."
"I would more so watch out for the Salvo girl."
"How about you all just shut it and have aden watch his ass for everyone. As a smuggler anything can happen."

I shook my head as though i was clearing my thoughts as we were told that we would soon be leaving the hyperspace. I grabbed everything of mine, and put it on my body, and then sat down in the seat. Standing up on a ship would not be so good. I could fall over and smack the crap out of my head. And truly I was scared and nervous. I knew that Smugglers and Pirates were different, but how different could they be? I mean all it takes is one smuggler going on a killing spree and they would be considered a pirate. Pulling on my jacket, I looked at my belt as it had loops for an arrangement of slugthrower bullets. as well as a clip for speed loading should I be in a tight spot.

with a revolver that was powerful enough to be considered a heavy blaster pistol, And it seemed that nobody here or there would be wearing armor, I knew that if I missed one wrong shot, or even messed up, I could shoot one of our own, but I could also easily kill those who may try and take us over. I only hoped that we would not have to face Pirates. Today I did not want to even think about playing Hero.

EDIT: I guess that I went in the wrong order? Sorry there Eli!

The Corellian Rose (retired)
"Be careful what you call a bucket of bolts, Captain Trent, as I am keeping this one flying," smirked a masculine mechanical voice from the hatchway, then the quirky LE series repair droid scooted down the corridor towards the engine room.

Eliza giggled at Leebo's remark, then followed [member="Jace Trent"] to the cockpit and took her place beside him at the controls. It would take him flying and her calling out the particulars to get them landed on Ryloth real quiet like…. Now the fun would begin!

((Kinda loose posting order, no worries [member="Aden Dawson"]))

[member="Corvetta Salvo"] [member="Damon Riggs"]

Riggs nodded and just went back to his seat. They were about to drop out of hyperspace, and Riggs wanted to be strapped in for that. Smaller ships jerked more than the larger ones. This job was going to be interesting. The spiders weren't an issue for Damon. He had seen so much combat that this would be a cake walk. Then again, he saw most of that from his ship. Get in and get out, that was his plan, and that's what he was going to do.

Eyes closed, Riggs did himself best to prepare himself mentally for what was going to happen. He felt like a cadet all over again facing his first combat situation. Funny how doing something new could make him feel that way. At the same time he felt like he had done this a million times. Riggs did know one thing, it was that this was no combat mission. Sure the spiders were there, and they would have to be careful because of that, but Riggs was there to make sure that happened. One way to deal with guilt of losing a crew was to make sure this one made it out alive.

Riggs still had his caf, and he started to drink it in his seat. The beauty of being a spacer was he had learned to drink hot beverages even when dropping out of hyperspace. The retired captain was a pro. He looked to the others who were still in the lounge and toasted with his mug.

"Here's to a safe landing!"

Corvetta busied herself in the engine room, face smeared like a tribal warrior with streaks of grease painted down her face. She giggled and made a face at herself when she saw her wild reflection on one of the few shiny elements of Defiant's machinery.

Shaking spray can of binding substance, the spacer girl removed the casing to the alluvial dampers and mentally marked key points inside the filtering. Clicking her tongue as she identified optimal points, Corvetta began spraying the bottle's liquids until they collected and solidified about the vents and injectors.

Satisfied with her work of clogging up the dampers, she replaced the containing components and refastened the screws to the unit. She hoped Jace would not take too much notice of the choke in the thrusters as they approached Ryloth. She would undo the damage later on when they were leaving atmosphere. Tossing the now-empty can aside, she ignored the ruckus and headed back out to hang by the main lift and wait for everyone else. They might find her oily stripes as entertaining as she had.

Jace Trent

"I aim to misbehave...
The Defiance came out of hyperspace and Jace put her to work. The Maka Eekai transport groaned as Jace shot the throttle forward and she rocketed toward Ryloth. The Defiance hit atmosphere at full speed and punched through.
Once the Defiance broke atmosphere, Jace pulled back on the throttle and forced her into a high speed free fall. The Defiance plummeted towards the surface. The reduced engine signature lowered the chance of her showing up on radar, and the speed of her free fall made her difficult to track.
Jace rested his hand on the repulsors controls and activated them at the exact moment causing her to stabilize mere meters from the ground. Next he eased the throttle forward and the Defiance scraped along the surface towards their plotted destination.
No hails popped up on the comm and no escort vessels were coming their way.

They had arrived. The Defiance rested next to a opening the led straight into the mine. It was time to suit up and go into the mine.

The Corellian Rose (retired)
Eliza didn't mind riding the roller coaster that [member="Jace Trent"] had put the Defiance crew on as he brought the L4000 transport down through Ryloth's rough atmosphere and then to their destination ground side.

"Beautiful piece of flying there, cowboy," the petite smuggler said flashing a lopsided grin his way as she released her crash webbing and rose from the co-pilot's seat. Steele grabbed her gear, then made for the lift that would take them down to the main cargo hold where the loading ramp was and the others would meet them for entry into the mine together.

"Don't worry… Leeboo will monitor things and let us know if something comes up, and if I scream just ignore me. If I swear something fierce, I mean business."

Gods why does it always have to be spiders?! Eliza mused sourly as she slipped into her suit.

When the lift doors opened, she walked out and gave a head nod to the rest of the group. "Y'all ready 'cause I'm itching to get this over with."

[member="Corvetta Salvo"] [member="Damon Riggs"] [member="Aden Dawson"]

Right, Trent decided to toss the crew around. Good thing he had been strapped in, though the record of no spills was still in hold. A nice drink of caf was enjoyed after ship landed. The restraints were released, and Riggs moved to get his suit on right away. The sooner the job was done, the sooner Riggs got paid. The sooner Riggs was paid, the sooner he was off to Taanab.

He grabbed one of the rifles Eliza had been prepping before they dropped out of hyperspace. Looking it over, the weapon was pretty straight forward. Riggs didn't care about taking any extra for himself, so he was satisfied with taking point. His job could be very simple. Kill as many spiders as possible.

"Let's just get it done," Riggs said coming down he ramp.

[member="Eliza Steele"][member="Jace Trent"][member="Corvetta Salvo"][member="Aden Dawson"]

Corvetta was not too fond of invading a spider's web, herself. But everyone else was doing it and it paid a lot of money. Besides, everything would be alright since she had her lucky cargo pants on, even if they were worn underneath an environmental suit. Having removed her jacket, she zipped up the heavy outerwear and strapped on a breather before gracelessly picking up one of those special guns. She was totally a pro.

The freighter girl hopped down the ramp and into the shadows of the cavern. She had decided not to remove her 'warpaint' before suiting up, therefore her face was concealed in the shadowy tunnels. She peered deeper into the cave, shivering a bit. This hole was home to giant arachnids--stuff of legends, except real. Looking to [member="Damon Riggs"], [member="Eliza Steele"], and then back at the fearless Captain [member="Jace Trent"], Frakkin' Snazzy Salvo considered that they might be weak in numbers. She feared they were missing something--or someone. Hopefully the spiders were all tucked in bed at the moment.

Accompanied by a hiss of static, Corvetta spoke through her oxygen mask as she fiddled with her ion rifle. "Just Eff-Why-Eye: I don't know how to use this thing."

[member="Aden Dawson"]

Jace Trent

"I aim to misbehave...
Jace strapped on an ion rifle and retrieved a breather from the crate. He opened an adjacent crate and pulled out a fusion lantern.
"Take some of these, rumor has it that these things are sensitive to light. If we can avoid a shooting match with the critters, it would make things a hell of a lot easier. If you run into any creepy crawly's, throw the lantern away from you and pray that it attracts the damn things"
He looked around at the able bodied crew. They were more than capable, there was no reason that they could all get out in one piece.
Leeboo and [member="Aden Dawson"] were to remain on the Defiance while the rest of them entered the mine.

Taking point, Jace led the way down the ramp, fitting his comm headset and his breather over his head as he did. His boots hit the rough surface of Ryloth and he peered inside the mouth of the cave. He clicked on his lantern and turned back to look up at the others who were hopefully descending after him.
"Well, lets get this done"
