- Droid repair bay: Every Cyclonus class Heavy Destroyer features a droid repair bay, for maintaining the various droids who run the ship.
- Advanced Sensor Jammer: These ships also feature an advanced sensor jammer specifically designed to mask all communications coming to and from the ship using massive amounts of false signals, most of which are advertisements for Glolmark Corporation products.
- Deceptive: With low weapons and defenses, the Cyclonus class may seem like an easy target, but this is far from the truth. These ships are very fast, and can unleash several squadrons of starfighters before any opposition has much time to react.
- Long Lasting: Cyclonus class ships are built to last, and can outlive many similar ships. They are also known to fare surprisingly well against more modernized heavy destroyers.
- Weak Weapons: Due to regulations on privately militaries, the Cyclonus class has weaker weapons than similarly sized ships.
- Weakly Armored: Due to several not very strategic budget cuts by the Glolmark Corporation during the design process, the Cyclonus class ended up with weaker armor and shields than originally envisioned. This means that these ships mostly rely on their fighter squadrons to defend them.
Cyclonus class Heavy Destroyers were the largest and most powerful starships designed and manufactured by the Glolmark Corporation. They formed the bulk of the subjugation fleets that the greedy corporation used in its colonization of the Unknown Regions when the corporation was at the height of its power. Most of the colonized planets with valuable resources would have at least one of these ships placed in permanent orbit. These orbiting ships were usually where the appointed manager of a colonized planet would govern from.
When mass slave revolts against the corporation started, the Cyclonus class was used for battle against actual organized resistance for the first time, and found to be worse than expected in combat. As a result, these ships were mostly used as carriers or cargo transports during the revolution. A few of these ships were captured by revolutionary forces, and others were captured by space pirates taking advantage of the chaos.
In the end, the Cyclonus class Heavy Destroyers failed to defeat the revolutionaries, and as the former colonies gained independence one by one, the Glolmark Corporation declared bankruptcy. The Incom FreiTek Corporation has begun producing highly convincing knock-off versions of the Cyclonus class, which are for all intents and purposes the same ships as the Glolmark versions.
A few notable examples of Cyclonus class Heavy Destroyers:
- The Cyclonus: The first ship of the Cyclonus class, and the personal flagship of the Glolmark Corporation’s CEO. While it is known that this ship definitely participated in attempting to quell the revolution, it is unknown what exactly happened to it. It is rumored to have been taken to a secret location far away from the Unknown Regions, and is being used to restart the corporation, but this is just a rumor of course. This ship was captained by a female Pau’an named Nelona Willgrip.
- The Galavar: This ship was used to colonize the planet Zodasia. It was involved in the Battle of Fadratov’s Folly, which was named after Arthomir Fadratov, the infamously incompetent male human who was the captain of this ship. Thanks to his overly aggressive tactics, the battle was a complete victory for the revolutionaries, and Fadratov was taken as a prisoner. This ship ended up being captured by the revolutionaries, and later stolen by space pirates. It is unknown who currently owns this ship, except that it no longer belongs to the space pirates who last stole it.
- The Monstructor: This ship was used to colonize the planet Osseriton. During the revolution, it was involved in the Battle of Fadratov’s Folly on the planet Zodasia. During the battle, it was incapacitated by a massive ion bomb, and ended up drifting out into space, where it was eventually found, repaired and extensively modified by the Pyke Syndicate, and renamed the Quasar. The captain of this ship was a Crolute named Luntar Grift, who abandoned his ship when it was disabled by the ion bomb, and was subsequently taken prisoner by the revolutionaries.
- The Trannis: This ship was used to colonize the planet Ahch-To. It was infamous for orbitally bombarding several ancient Jedi temples in an attempt to scare the native population into submission. During the revolution, it was destroyed by revolutionary saboteurs, and the island where it crashed was declared a planetary monument after Ahch-To regained independence. The ship’s captain was a male Mon Calamari named Akrad Brakar, who was taken prisoner by the revolutionaries after his ship crashed.
- The Octus: This ship was used to colonize the planet Sarvchi. It was used relatively little during the revolution, and was most noticeable for being tricked into firing on Glolmark Corporation forces during a battle on Sarvchi’s surface. This ship was eventually commandeered by space pirates, and ended up in the hands of the Incom FreiTek Corporation under suspicious circumstances. Incom FreiTek then reverse engineered the ship to create highly convincing knock-off versions of the Cyclonus class, which are still being built and sold today. This ship’s captain was a female Devaronian named Ulritara Jandav, who was killed when her ship was commandeered by space pirates.
- The Jhiaxus: This ship was used to colonize the planet Copero. It saw significant usage in battle early on in the revolution, until it was destroyed in a battle against a fleet sent by the Galactic Alliance to assist the revolutionaries. Its captain was a male human named Simon Repinarm, who died when the ship was destroyed. The ship’s destruction proved that the Cyclonus class was not suited to direct combat against more dedicated military ships.
