As part of a new Modernization Program for the Directorate’s Imperial Navy , Yorkell Industries and Carrier Drive Yards began making plans for new vessels to be utilized by the Directorate in which would give the Directorate new Modern Ships capable of rivaling those of the Galactic Alliance and to replace older models considered obsolete by the Board of Directors. Amongst the First Vessels designed for this Modernization Program was the Glory-Class Star Destroyer , designated to replace the Praetorian-Class Star Destroyers obtained by the Directorate from Aurora Industries and to be able to rival the Redeemer-Class Star Defender mainly utilized by the Galactic Alliance.
