Iona had landed on Traedaris a few days ago, dropped off by her 'Master' Kaia Starchaser Kaia Starchaser , for an information digging assignment. The pair had been working in the Tingel Arm and Kathol Outback, chasing shadows and following mysteries. The Bryn'adul were on their radar currently - in a sense. Their presence was still around these parts and there was a suspected issue with path engines and the destructive group. Iona had been dropped off to scour the physical libraries for information. Recorded folk tales. Short personal accounts. Technical specifications. Anything that could give them a leg up and information for their next assignment, for their next route.

However, one could not sit in libraries on small backwater worlds all day. She was young and did like to move around. Which meant she could stretch her legs and walk around the rocky island. Today she was drifting around the rocky cliffs. Fishing boats were moving in the distance. Many locals had set up long fishing poles to fish off the edge, looking quite sucessful.

Sharp eyes spotted a teenage girl about her age. She drifted closer, observing the girl with a basket half-way full of fish. She appeared reasonably successful.

"You're pretty good at that. I'd probably end up hooking myself."

Focus on the ripples. The subtle movements of the water. Reina hefted the harpoon aloft, waiting for the precise moment to throw. It was...nice to fish here. It was simple enough for her to find a place where she could just do what she was good at. Of course, she had a few fishing rods set up around the edge as well, secured down with knots and some rocks to make sure they weren't pulled off into the water. Multi-tasking was another thing she was proficient enough in.

"You're pretty good at that. I'd probably end up hooking myself."

The unfamiliar voice caused Reina's eyebrow to perk up for a moment though before she spoke, the girl lunged forward to spear her target. Letting the harpoon soar through the sky, before holding her hand out in concentration.

"It ain't that hard. Been doin' it since I was small. Before I could even walk."

At least. The fishing part was something she had been doing for years. And harpooning wasn't something new to her, but normally the harpoons would have something for her to grab on to pull back to shore. This time, she was...experimenting. Normally she'd use the Force instinctually. Without thinking about it and when she needed it. Now, she was attempting to use it intentionally, to hold the Harpoon and bring it back. A few beads of sweat from the effort building up as she tried to focus...Though with a sudden wave enveloping the harpoon, Reina's focus was broken and the tool alongside the fish it had speared were lost to the ocean

"Kark!"

Looking over the multi-line setup, Iona was extremely impressed. There was no way she could ever do such a thing. The teenager was struck by the skill it took - the constant attention it must take to maintain so many lines. Perhaps a family business? Or the teenager was a fish monger? One always found a way to make the impossible happen when they needed to support themselves in this lonely 'verse.

A small gasp as the harpoon was lost to the ocean waves. Instantly she felt bad. Probably distracted the other teenager from her job and now a valuable tool was lost.

"L-Let me buy you a new harpoon...I feel its my fault for asking so many questions. Its the least I could do for you." Iona immediately started to fish around in her pockets for credits. "How much do you think?"

Reina watched for a moment, tilting her head as she watched Iona starting to fish around for credits in her pocket. Shaking her head for a moment as the young girl had a little pout on her face.

"Nothin'. Skipper told me not to accept charity from people. I have to work for my living."

She could recall the Nautolan's voice freshly in the back of her mind as Reina folded her arms along her front as well, staring down Iona for a moment before the young fisherwoman shook her head and went straight over towards the fishing rods and started to well...check the lines. Making sure that there wasn't any that she needed to recast or fix.

"It ain't your fault anyway. It's mine, for listenin' to that damned fool. Telling me to try and use the Spirit to my advantage..."

The girl just started rambling to herself about how much of a stupid idea it is to try and control something to your own will. Of course, she was talking about the Force but it wasn't the way she viewed it. It was the Sea itself, as a spirit. Forever at her side, and her back, pushing her forward.

"Oh, no. Its not charity. Its just repayment for a hazard I caused. If I had never talked to you then you wouldn't have lost your equipment."

In her eyes, it was setting the wrong back to a right. Yes, the teenager would miss some fish and then also some credits, but if Iona didn't repay her today she was concerned the teenager wouldn't be able to fish longer than just a few hours. It was already hard enough in the Outer Rim, she didn't want to make things worse.

Stepping back as the other checked the lines, dark eyebrows furrowed.

"What's the Spirit? Like a ghost?"

"What? Ghost. Nah. It's...Most folk call it the Force or somethin'. I guess it fits. The Sea is a Force of its own. But I don't see it like that. It's always been the Spirit of the Sea for me. The wind at my back, pushing me forward."

Reina gave a dismissive wave of her hand. If Iona was going to pay for a Harpoon, Reina assumed she wouldn't be able to stop her. She was awful at accepting help anyway...Even after the incident on Keshi where she had gotten hurt in the Mandalorian raid...Urgh. She had to fight the urge to let out a groan at the memory. She had gotten herself hurt helping other people. And for what? Nothing.

Iona found what she felt was the appropriate amount of credits for a harpoon, plus ten percent, and outstretched her hand to the other teenage girl. Hopefully the redhead would take it. Not only did she feel terrible but it was her obligation as someone training to be a Warden. It was also just a part of her upbringing.

"Please take it. It's not charity, more me just tryin' to set things right. Just trying to do the right thing."

Listening to the other talk about the 'Spirit' which was the 'Force'. Made sense to her others had different names for the Force, especially in far flung places.

"You said 'old fool' is that your Master or something? Your teacher of the Spirit? I got stuck with my cousin for a teacher."

With a grumble, Reina took the credits, stuffing them into her pocket for now. She might use them. Who knows? She certainly didn't though Reina couldn't help but roll her eyes at one of Iona's comments.

"Barely a point in doing the "right thing". It ends up getting you shot. Or stabbed. Or both. Or it ends up with you stabbing someone."

The lass focused on the fishing rods for a moment before stopping. Blinking to herself as Iona asked if the old fool she mentioned was her master? She narrowed her eyes to herself, staring off at the water, giving a shake of her head.

"Ain't got a master. The old fool is some guy who started talkin' to me when I was on Coruscant. Ran some army or somethin'. Wanted to be my teacher. But an army ain't my thing. He said I needed to "learn how to use The Force" or somethin'. And I told him I don't want to use it. I want to help it. And I want it to help me. The Spirit is there for everyone. And to use it solely for my own wishes...It ain't right. At least...That's what my crew used to think."

"I don't plan on stabbing anyone. I'd only attack in a true life and death situation. The Galaxy already has too much violence inside of it."

Listening to Reina Daival Reina Daival ,Iona nodded along. Who was she to decide who got to use the Force in a way they saw fit or not? Seemed like an interesting philosophy and if it worked for the other teenager, then she herself could stand to learn a little from it.

"I don't think there is really a right or wrong. Sounds like you've got your path figured out on how the Spirit will be in your life. A pretty cool thing if you ask me."

By now she was realizing she had never introduced herself. Poor manners in her opinion on her part.

Hand stuck out in greeting.

"Iona Starchaser. Sorry I didn't say my name sooner. You live out here?"

Her eyebrow raised when Iona said there was too much violence in the world and she had to fight the urge to roll her eyes as she finished fiddling around with the fishing rods.

"Sometimes ye don't get a choice. I know I didn't.."

The sudden appearance of a hand being held out to Reina caused her eyes to go down to Iona's hand for a moment before Reina raised her hand to give the Mirialan a firm handshake

"Reina Daival. And no. I just go where the fishing is. Stayed on Coruscant for a wee bit. Went to Keshi as well. But that place ended up with me gettin shot, stabbed and killin some bucket-head. Think the old man I saved said they were called Mangolorians or somethin'? Wasn't taught 'bout weird metal head people."

Reina mumbled to herself for a little bit, grumbling at the same time. Fishing was simple. Fishing was easy. To an extent. But fighting? The Galaxy at large? It was confusing.

"No, sometimes there isn't a choice. I'm just sayin' one shouldn't be adding to the heap if they don't got to. Just my two credits. I don't expect anyone to agree or see my point, its okay."

Iona was aware she grew up in an interesting and very small enclave of the Jedi out in the Levantine Sanctum. Very much a fringe group with fringe ideas. Yet it didn't deter her. She wanted to know what made others tick. What drove them and their philosophies. She had been learning quite a bit.

"Pleasure to meet you Reina."

Mangolorians?

"Oh, the folks who wear buckets on their heads. Yeah, they seem weird to me. Never met one. Saw one walking around a spaceport though. While you go planet to planet searching for fish, I go planet to planet looking for lost items. Artifacts. Technology. Helping refugees."

"Eh. If you have a point or not, it's not my place to say. I don't know much about the Galaxy. There's more knowledgeable and sagely people than me, I suppose"

Reina waved her hand dismissively. The more and more she spent away from her crew, the only people she could consider the family, the more she realised just how alone she was in the galaxy. How little she knew when it came to dealing with people. None of that was important though. It was something she'd have to learn in time. The crew and the ship were gone now so.

"Keshi coulda used you then. There were a few refugees who were hurt I think. I bailed as soon as I could...Getting shot and stabbed to rescue an old man just ain't it for me."

Why would she want to get hurt for people she didn't know? For strangers? It made no sense. Even if the memory of saving someone did make her smile slightly, the lass shook the smile off her face rather simply before turning her attention back to the water.

Listening to the trouble on Keishi, Iona nodded. She had no clue what was occuring on the planet and thats why, as a spacer and trainee Warden, it was important to make connections. Listen to others. Find out what was going on in their corner of the universe. It would all assist her in the end.

"Keishi huh? I may have to go there next and find out more then. See if they still need any help...maybe not, but who knows!"

Iona rubbed the back of her neck.

"I should probably leave you alone. Wasted a lot of your time...and equipment...already. Hope you catch a lot though, you seem really good at it."

"'ere I thought all you Jedi were connected...You are a Jedi, right? You have a familiar...smell. Like the Spirit."

It was part of the way sensing the Force worked for her. Some people might have gotten visual signs or auditory signs. For Reina, it was olfactory or physical signs. A gentle breeze along the back of her neck or the scent of a seabreeze. Though she shook her head, focusing on the fishing lines.

"I'd 'ope I was good at this. Been fishin' before I could walk. If you need to get goin' you should though. There's people out in the Galaxy that need your 'elp I suppose. I dunno."

Iona held up an arm. She promptly sniffed her underarms, making sure she had applied deodorant today. Nothing smelly. Odd because the teenager girl stated she smelled familiar. Maybe it was the hygiene products. Maybe her shampoo. Yet Iona wasn't going to inquire what exactly that 'familiar smell' was.

"No one really needs me. I'm not important."

The Mirilan paused, thinking.

"Do you want to go on an adventure in the future? My cousin and I could always use another hand."
